FRANKLIN, Ruby
On Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Brockville General Hospital; the former Ruby Sargent at the age of 88 years. Beloved wife of the late William Edward Franklin. Loving mother of Robert Franklin and his wife Nancy of Brockville and dear grandmother of Andrew and Laura Franklin. Mrs. Franklin was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers and is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Roselawn Tribute Centre located within Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, on Tuesday, August 15th from 1:00 until the time of the Service in the Roselawn Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with interment following. In remembrance, donations to the Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged. Entrusted to the care of Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville.

HUBBARD, Calvin “Cal”
Born: February 11, 1921
Waterbury, Connecticut
Peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Friday, August 11, 2006 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Merial (nee Flewelling). Cherished father of Leverett (Mary) of Crystal Rock, Nancy McHugh (John) of Cambridge, Scott (Joan) of Prescott, Brad (Heather) of Spencerville and Natalie Bootes (Todd) of Fort Myers, Florida. Dear Pappy of Matthew (Kim) and Kelly (Ryan Gillis) Hubbard, Emily, Calvin and Molly McHugh, Rebecca and Lesley (Josh Kirkby) Hubbard, Kirk and Neil Hubbard and great-grandfather of Alexis Hubbard.
Friends may call at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, 416 Dibble Street West, Prescott from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. A Private family service will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. For those wishing the family would appreciate donations to the United Way, The Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

MACDONALD, John H.
Peacefully at Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (Perth Site) on Saturday, August 12, 2006. John MacDonald, formerly of Newboro in his 91st years. Beloved husband of the Late Lola De Bruyn. Predeceased by his parents, Melbourne and Lena MacDonald.
The family will receive friends at the Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main Street, Elgin on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment Emmanuel Anglican Cemetery, Portland. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Emmanuel Anglican Cemetery Fund, Portland or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

MACKIE, Nellie Reg’d Nurse

Peacefully with her family by her side, on Friday August 11, 2006 at the Kingston General Hospital. Nellie Mackie of Lansdowne, aged 85 years. Beloved daughter of the late Dr. James Mackie and his wife Mary Ellen Whelan Mackie. Dear aunt of James Morrison of Brockville, Robert Morrison and his wife Judy of RR3, Yarker and Mary Ellen Bouthoorn and her husband Piet of RR1, Belmont. Also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a brother Jim Mackie and a sister MaryLou Morrison, a nephew Mackie Morrison and a niece Cheryl Faith Morrison.
At Nellie’s request there will be no visitation or service. A private family interment will be in Union Cemetery. Lansdowne at a later date. In memoriams to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Barclay Funeral Home, 1033 Prince Street, Lansdowne entrusted with the arrangements.

ROONEY, Julia Ann

We announce with great sadness the passing of Julia Ann Rooney with her family by her side at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Daughter of the late Edward Rooney and the late Roseanna Savor. Much loved sister of Catherine Burns of Ottawa and Patrick Rooney (Nancy) of Richmond BC. Best friend and cherished cousin of Lilian Laushway of Ottawa. Julia is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her brothers Francis “Frank” of Iroquois and Lawrence “Doc”. The family wishes to thank the many caring medical professionals who supported Julia over the past several months. We are truly thankful!
Friends may call at McEvoy - Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday (time to be confirmed) at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 20 Grant Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Interment St. Mark’s Cemetery, Prescott. Donations to the Ottawa Hospital, University of Ottawa Heart Institute or charity of choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Peacefully at Maple View Lodge, Athens on Saturday, August 12, 2006. Victor Szanyi of Portland in his 80th years. Beloved friend, companion and husband of Sylvia Graham. Dear father of Robert (Dixie) of New Jersey, Ronald (Gail) of Virginia, Richard of New York. Dear brother of William of Mississippi, Rose Dmytryck of Pennsylvania, Margaret (Bernard) Hendershot of New Jersey. Predeceased by brothers, Joseph, John, Steve and Alexander. Fondly remembered by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by step son, Greg (Kathleen) Graham of Portland and step granddaughter, Michailia.
A Memorial Service will be held in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Newboyne on Saturday morning September 16, 2006 at 11 o’clock. Inurnment Philipsville Baptist Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Newboyne or the Westport Lions Club Mobility Van would be appreciated by the family. At the Brockville General Hospital on Saturday, August 12, 2006. Dorothy Winnifred Armitage age 89 of Rosedale Retirement Centre, Brockville. Beloved widow of Claude Thomas. Dear mother of Ronald Thomas (Arlaine) of Ottawa, Joan Ellacott (Tom) of Brockville, Gary Thomas of Guelph and Bill Thomas (Debbie) of Brockville. Loving grandmother of Shannon, Michael, Leanne, Laurie and Jeff, great-grandmother of Jessica, Alexandra, Zoe, Nicole, Alexander and Taylor. Predeceased by a sister and three brothers, Marjorie Fifield, Harold, Donald, and Jack Armitage. Also predeceased by her parents The Rev. Frank and Ida Armitage of Brockville.
Relatives and friends will be received at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, on Tuesday, August 15th, from 1 to 2 p.m. A private Family Service will follow in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment Glen Elbe Cemetery. BAYNHAM, William “Bill”
Peacefully, at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital Geriatric Ward on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the age of 83. Loving father of Shirley Flegg (John). Grandfather of Diana Keeler (Troy) and Ivy Flegg (Kevin). Great-grandfather of six. Dear friend of Liz Snowden (Dave) and Heather Murdock (Faye). Also survived by sister Kathleen. Predeceased by daughter Marion, mother Cora, sisters Phyllis and Irene and brothers Kenny, Richard and Charlie.

Dear father of Tarra Brunette of Nova Scotia, Andy Elliott (Wanda) of Brockville, Susan Elliott of Brockville, Tylor and Travis Elliott at home. Cherished grandfather of Natasha, Katie-Lynn and Harley. Brother of Art Elliott and David Elliott (Sharon), all of Brockville. Son-in-law of Barbara and James Lake of Brockville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Gwendolyn Elliott, by his first wife Stephanie Fournier, by his brothers Richard and Gary Elliott and by a brother-in-law David Lake.

SHEPPARD, Edith
Entered into rest at the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital on July 19, 2006, Edith Margaret Sheppard, in her 74th year. Beloved daughter of the late Frank and Florence Sheppard. Dear sister of Eric Sheppard. Also survived by her cousins Mary McCaffrey, Peter Girard and Beth Girard (Peter Markle). Predeceased by her brother in infancy William.
