Formerly of Hamilton, Ontario, resident of Bridlewood Manor, Brockville, in her 87th year. She died peacefully in her sleep at the Brockville General Hospital on Tuesday, December 7, 2004. Loving mother of Marilee Taylor (Bruce) of Brockville and David Stevens (Margaret) of Winnipeg, MB. Grandmother to Neta Taylor-Post (John) of Canton, NY, Jeremy Stevens (Linsea) of River Hills, MB, Emily Stevens (Greg) of Winnipeg, MB, and great-grandmother of John (Jack) Post. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law Thelma Haverty of Vulcan, AB, and Beth Milligan of Oakville, ON. She had a special relationship with her niece Helen Doyle of Balboa Island, CA. Irene was predeceased by her parents Mary and William Haverty as well as siblings Marie, Edward, Kathleen and Bud, and by a stepdaughter Heather in 2004. Irene, R.N., graduated from Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital in 1941, married Harry (Skip) Stevens, February 1942 (predeceased 1960). In 1974 she married Edward J. (Tod) Wilson (predeceased 1996). She was founding and Life Time Member of the Macassa Bay Yacht Club. Irene loved life, always smiling and positive, she was a caring and good friend to everyone who knew her.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday, December 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Irene’s life will be held in the Chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. with a gathering to follow in the Irvine Reception Centre. Following cremation at Roselawn Crematorium, interment will take place at St. Jude’s Cemetery, Oakville. In remembrance, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice will be appreciated by her family.

Suddenly on Wednesday, October 20, 2004. Clinton Lorne Bennett, age 78 years, of Rock Springs, born in Detroit, Michigan on March 13, 1926. Married Frances Gunness in Rock Springs United Church on July 2nd, 1949. Survived by his wife Frances, two children, Marilyn Ann Irish (Fred) of RR 2, Addison and Daniel Lorne Bennett (Diane) of Kemptville. Loving grandfather of David (Anik), Jenny (Joe), Jessica and Rebecca and one great-grandson Xander. Dear brother of Ray Bennett (Lorna) of Frankville and Dick Bennett (Lois) of Barhaven. Also survived by four sisters-in-law, Gwen Gunness of Jasper, Eileen Gilroy of Athens, Betty Tarlington of Brockville and Erma Ferguson (Arthur) of Jasper. Sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by one brother Vernon and wife Barbara of Richmond, also his parents Adam and Lena and his stepmother Vera. Also predeceased by sisters-in-law Lula Townsend, Elva Clark and brothers-in-law Willie, Cecil, Jamie and Raymond Gunness, also Waldo Gilroy, Jerry Townsend, Howard Tarlington and Jack Clarke.
Friends will be received at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, on Thursday, October 21st, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, October 23rd, at 11 a.m. Interment Greenbank Cemetery. Dear grandmother of Edward Kirkby, Tammy Crowder, Kathy Bernier, Marla McConachie, Scott Downing, Ben Lyons, Sarah Lyons, and 10 great-grandchildren. HEDER, Mary Anderson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Anderson Heder, peacefully on Saturday August 7, 2004 at St. Vincent de Paul Hospital with family by her side, after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Dora (Richardson) Anderson. Survived by her four children and three grandchildren: Susan Smith and sons Matthew and Tyler (Cardinal); Judith (Ottawa); Martha and daughter Naomi (Toronto) and John (Toronto). Also survived by her older sister Jean (Edward) Hutton and family of Monmouth, Wales, her cousin Peter (Kathleen) Richardson and family of Ashley Heath, Dorset, England, her cousin David (Connie) Anderson and family of Fleet, Hampshire, England, as well as other Anderson and Richardson relatives in northern England. Born and raised in Durham, England, Mary emigrated to Canada in her early twenties. An intrepid and adventuresome woman ahead of her time she first taught for two years in the Okanogan Valley in B.C. Next she taught at the Grenfell Mission School in St. Anthony on the northern tip of Newfoundland for two years, then on to New York City for a year. Coming back to Toronto she taught English at the Bishop Strachan School. Before starting her family she resided in Munich Germany for two years teaching English and traveling extensively. Upon her return to Canada she briefly taught at Brock University before focusing her considerable energies on raising her family. Mary’s warm and friendly presence as well as her love of life, intelligence, joy humour, wisdom, compassion, and loyalty to her children will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
At Mary’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. After cremation she wished her family and friends to gather together to remember her life. To fulfill that wish, her family invite her friends and neighbours to a celebration of her life at the Brockville Rowing Club on Saturday September 11th at 11 am. In memoriam donations may be made to P.C.C.C. – Hospice of Providence at 42 Garden Street, Brockville, Ontario K6V 2C3 as well as at the memorial service.
