McDOWALL, Jean Patricia

Passed away peacefully at the age of 63 on Monday, January 19th, 2009 at the Lakeridge Health, Oshawa, after a courageous two and a half year struggle with cancer.

She was a beautiful and loving person whose absence is, and will be, deeply felt. Jean is predeceased by her father, Cyril Lawrence Bowser and leaves behind her most precious gifts, her children, Cheryl and Wayne McDowall, and Heather Ali (McDowall). Also left behind to cherish the fondest of memories is her beloved mother, Nora Bowser LePage (Hanley), her loving step-father, John LePage, her wonderful brothers, Larry and Bob Bowser, and her many cousins in Montreal and London, and nieces and nephews. Over the years Jean was blessed with good friends in Montreal, Toronto, London and Oshawa.

A Memorial Service for Jean will be held at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, Ontario on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations to The Terry Fox Foundation or to the Princess Margaret Hospital would be appreciated. Visitation 1 hour prior to Service.

WEED, Peter Alwin

Passed away at his home with his family by his side on Monday, January 19th, 2009 in his 55th year.

Dearly loved husband and best friend of Delia. Much loved Dad to Christina and her husband Matthew John, Brian Weed, Melissa Grech, Katie Weed, Rebecca and her husband Brandon Nickerson and Natalie Weed. Grandfather of Paige and Hailey. Loved son of Paul and his wife Jeanne, predeceased by his mother Jennie. Loved brother of Beverley and her husband Lloyd Hodgson, Gail and her husband William Knaggs, Joanne and her husband Robert Smith. Son-in-law of Thomas and Netta Cryan and brother-in-law of Patricia (Paul), Gerry and his wife Lorrie, Thomas, Maureen (Lisa) and the late Iain. Fondly remembered by his loyal friends Kerry Buker and Dennis Timbrell. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Peter was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario and the Conservative Party of Canada. He also served as an Immigration and Refugee Board Member.

Visitation will take place at MEMORIAL CHAPEL BROOKLIN, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 130 Watford St. Brooklin on Saturday, January 24th at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.

If desired memorial donations to the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

CANNON, Margaret Elizabeth

Margaret Cannon passed away peacefully in her 100th year at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa, Ontario on January 18, 2009.

She was born April 4, 1909 to parents Arthur and Esther Farley in Toronto, Ontario and married her beloved husband, Herbert Cannon (deceased in 1977) in 1934. She is the beloved mother of son Jim (Leslie) Cannon and daughters Joan (Dean) Haley and Carol (Gerry) Brown; beloved grandmother to Shelley (Miro) Krmec, Janet Haley (Jeremy Winchester), Barbara (Dale) Ehrhart, Katherine (Ronen) Hebdon, Anatole Cannon, Jaime Cannon; and beloved great-grandmother to Matthew Krmec, Marilyn Krmec, Rachel Ehrhart, Sarah Hebdon, Nicole Ehrhart and Dylan Hebdon.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Christ Memorial Anglican Church, Hillcroft and Mary St., Oshawa, Ontario at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Margaret to Christ Memorial Anglican Church or to a charity of your choice.

FOGAL, Larry Richard "Gus"
(Retired General Motors Employee)

Passed away at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, January 18, 2009 in his 68th year.

Larry, husband of Barbara. Loving father of Kim and her husband Barry Twilt, Rick and his wife Mary. Dear grandfather of Shelby and Clay. Loved brother of Frona, Bob, Ron, Kathy, Barry and the late Frances. Sadly missed by his friend Grace Filipe.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation. Donations to the Humane Society of Durham Region may be made through the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL 4 Division Street, Bowmanville.

GILHOOLY, Michael Jay

It is with sadness we announce Michael’s passing in Bowmanville on Sunday, January 18, 2009 in his 57th year.

Michael leaves his three children to mourn his passing, Kathleen (Tyson) of Goose Bay, Newfoundland/Labrador. Conor (Christa) of Peterborough, and Lauren and their mother Patty Seaton of Bowmanville. Dear son of the late Helen Jeanette and Donald Joseph Gilhooly. Also leaving to mourn, Michael’s brother, Jeff (Mil) of St. John’s, Newfoundland, his aunts Betty Forsey and Marie Dunlop, step mother Beryl Gilhooly and her daughter Heather McCaffery (Jim) as well as many cousins and friends and his two critters Napoleon and Bonaparte.

Friends may pay their respects at the MORRIS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4 Division St., Bowmanville on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 10 – 11 a.m. Funeral service in the MORRIS CHAPEL on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. Cremation at Bowmanville Crematorium. INNES, Elsie Helen (nee Pereman)
(1919 - 2009)

Passed away at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa.

Dearly loved wife of Clarence (Tommy) Thompson, and the late W. Earl Innes. Much loved mother of Judy and her husband Ron Sinclair of Huntsville, and Jane and her husband John Delorme of Port Perry. Loved Grandmother of Debbie, Jeff, Heather, Bonnie and their families and Melinda Delorme. Predeceased by her brother Gordon and sisters Maxine and Marion.

Private family services will take place at a later date, with interment at GROVESIDE CEMETERY, Brooklin. In memory of Elsie, memorial donations to the R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Center Oshawa, Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or Durham Community Care.

Peacefully with her loving family at her side on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 76.

June, beloved wife of the late Albert Holdaway (1996). Loved mother of Robin Elliott, Mark Holdaway and his wife Dawn, Wayne Holdaway and his wife Christine and the late Brian Holdaway and his wife Diane Holdaway. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren John and Jeff, Jane, Cheryl and John Jr., Daniel and Shawn, and Courtney, Caitlyn and Justin, and great-grandchildren Noah, Seheirra, Holly, Justin, Sarah, Josh and Justin. Many thanks to Dr. Kingsman and Claire, Drs. Ross and Chu, Kidney Care Clinic, Joan and Leonard Rogers, Bernice Rahm, and all her church family.

McMILLAN, Elaine E.

Suddenly but peacefully, with her husband at her side, at her residence in Wilmot Creek on Sunday, January 18, 2009, in her 85th year.

Loving wife and best friend for 57 years of Robert (Bob). Proud and dear mother of Janis and her husband John Miller of Brampton, MaryLynn and her husband Richard Stevens of Ajax, and Philip George McMillan and his wife Lynn of Whitby. Sadly missed by grandchildren Bryan and Graham Miller, Shane and Kyle Stevens, Cerene McMillan, and great-grandson Brody Miller. Sister of the late Doreen Dunlop.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Val on Sunday, January 18th, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.

Beloved wife of the late Ted Miller, dear mother of John Miller and his wife Joan Chave. Loving grandmother of Jason and Debra and Janet and Shawn. Great-grandmother to Travis, Madison and Jacob. Dear aunt to Donna Metcalf and Phillip Miller.

Brother of Sally Kitchen and husband Joe, Joan Brown and husband Danny, Shirley Thompson and husband Danny, all of England, and the late Tony and Joe Astley. Brother-in-law of Betty and Ken Roocroft and of Ada Ormesher. Remembered by family in England.
