Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Saturday, January 17th, 2009 in her 81st year.
The Lord took unto himself our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. We know she is saved and free of sorrow and pain. We will miss her and hope to see her again. Beloved wife of the late Gerrit Jan for 55 years. Dear mother of John and his wife Reta, Janet and her husband Ron Ashby, Irene and her husband Clarence VanderLaan, Linda and her husband Ron Touw, Wilma and her husband John Barink, Raymond and his wife Margaret, Marianne and her husband Michael Kassay and the late Harvey. Mother in law to Jackie and her husband Stuart Bootsma. Sister of Femmie, Nies, Willem, Ge, Harm, Hillie, and the late Hennie, Arend and Albert. Sister in law of Egbert, Diny, Jan and the late Zwaantje and Gerrit. She will be truly missed by her 36 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Marie after a brief illness at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, January 17th in her 70th year.
Beloved wife of Frederick. Loving mum of Carolann (Stephen) and Steven (Tammy). Devoted granny to Alexander, Kevin, Gabrielle, and her four-legged one, Tiko. Predeceased by her son Graeme, mother and father Alice and James, brothers Jim and Harry, sisters Amy and Mary. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Beannie and Flora, her life long best friend and cousin Mary, and her niece Fiona, all of Dundee, Scotland. Fondly remember by all her nieces and nephews in Scotland and Canada. Marie was an avid gardener, reader and cook. She touched many lives with her easy going personality and great sense of humour. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
A service was held at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL. Cremation has taken place. Charitable donations made in Marie's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated by her family.

Passed away on January 17, 2009, peacefully surrounded by her family at Centennial Place in Millbrook, in her 89th year.
Phyllis, wife of the late Earl Morton (1987) and the late Arnold Guerin (1965). Dear mother of Marlene and her husband Doug Cumming of Peterborough, Gail and her husband Dave Spence of Bowmanville, and Len Guerin and his wife Kate of Peterborough. Sadly missed by grandchildren Terry, Allan, Scott, Kelli, Nadine, Chris, Tanya, Adam, Kyle, and Matt, and many great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings, Carl and his wife Ruth Williamson of Peterborough, Russ and his wife Greta Williamson of Lindsay, and Florence and her husband Bill Stevens of Peterborough.
A funeral service will be held at ST. GEORGE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH (Braidwood and Roger Neilson Way) on Thursday, January 22, at 1:00 p.m., with visiting in the church for one hour prior to the service.

BASTEDO, Edgar Frank (Ted)
Peacefully at the Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Friday, January 16, 2009 in his 92nd year.
Beloved husband of Martha (Patty), Loving father of daughters Anne Bastedo (Rick Lane), Jane Weston (Caspar) and Grandchildren Lucy and Rory and son John (Lynn) and Grandchildren Kati, Peter and Laura. Pre-deceased by Wife Patricia (Sylvester), sisters Dorothy Cavers, Jean-Anne Bastedo and Brother Don Bastedo. Fondly remembered by Patty’s Children Joanne, Susan, George, Perrin, Stephen, and families.
Special thanks to the Doctors and Nursing staff of the critical care unit at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, September 12, 1917, served with the Manitoba Dragoons in WW2 as a lieutenant Colonel. Following the War, resumed practicing Law in Oshawa until Retirement. Served as Commander of 11 Armored (Ontario) Regiment with rank of lieutenant-colonel 1948-1951. Served as executive member of several community services and organizations, including Ontario Law Association, Oshawa Hospital Board and Foundation, Rotary Club, Red Cross, VON, Oshawa Chamber of Commerce Oshawa Golf Club and Oshawa City Council and was a generous supporter of the Oshawa arts community.
Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 23, 2009, at 1 p.m. in Northminster United Church, reception to follow at the Armories Officers Mess.
