McGARRY, James Allen

Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Devoted husband of Eileen for 43 years. Loving father of Mike and Shaun (Paula). Cherished grandfather (Gaga) of Liam. Dear brother of Don (Helen), Pat (Pauline), Jack (Paula), Eileen, Vern and Mary. James will be fondly remembered by Joyce and Bob Shearer and family and by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by first wife Shirley. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff in CCU at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Friday, January 16th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. A Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, January 17th at 1:00 P.M. Cremation to follow at a later date.

PLISCHEWSKY, Christina Luba

Passed away at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 in her 47th year.

Dearly loved wife of Peter of Whitby. Dearly loved mother of Pete, Michael and Stephen all at home. Cherished daughter of Andy and Mary Soroka of Wasaga Beach. Dear sister of Sonia, Oksana, Helena and Ivan. Remembered by Paul and his wife Mary of Brooklin. Always loved by her nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Memorial Chapel Brooklin, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Service in the chapel Monday afternoon January 19th, at 2:00 p.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery Cemetery, Whitby.

If desired memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated the family .

POWER, Isabelle Marie

Suddenly at home in Oshawa, on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at the age of 73.

Beloved mother of Anita Power, Kimberley Power (Stephen Smith), Walter Power (Carol Montauti) and Sean Power (Pam). Devoted “Nana” to Justin, Jessica, Daniel, Sean (Nicole), Ashley, Melinda, Jake, Ryan, Kyle and Great Grandma to Ben. Dear sister of Mary McCormick, Carl Parrott (Lorna), Reginia Collins, Elizabeth “Betty” Bushnik (Neil), Kevin Parrott (Gabrielle), Doris Rose, Patricia Kennedy (Francis) and the late William and Thomas. Will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and Monday, January 19, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until Celebration of Isabelle’s Life at 11:00 a.m.

SIBEON, Thomas

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Rough Valley Health System, Ajax, ON. Loving husband of Virginia Carrigan. Cherished father of Tom (Linda) and Sheree Stewart. Beloved grandfather of Stephanie, Ricky, Christopher, Ryan, Ryan, Charlene and four great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Bill (Faylenore), Jack (Sharon), Bob (Debbie), and Mary-Lou. Tommy will also be sadly missed by Christy and Terry and family, and friends.

Age 75 years. Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday, January 14, 2009.

Beloved husband of Eileen (nee Joans). Dear father of Denise (Ed) Stec, Cathy (Wolf) Paus, Janny (Kent) Stephens, Lisa (Rob) Meggett. Loving grandfather of Brooke (Ryan), Nicole (Jeremey), Rachel, Jessica, Kayla, Emily, Olivia and great-grandfather of Jacob and Ella. Dear brother of Marge (Joe) Piper, the late Muriel Walker and brother-in-law of Tom. Predeceased by his parents Upton & Verna Stephens. Survived by his step-father Russel (Doreen) Hepburn. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and relatives.

A Private Family Service will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville. Cremation. Memorial Donations may be made to The Lung Association.

TAYLOR, Estella "Grace"

At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in her 85th year.

Grace, beloved wife of the late Douglas Ronald Taylor. Loved mother of Rickie Donovan and her husband Desmond, Loraine Taylor and Larry Taylor and his wife Christine. Dear grandmother of Sara, Megan, Kevin, Tracey and great-grandmother of Emma Kate and Dylan. Dear sister of Marie Morrison.

Friends may pay their respects at ST. JOHN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 11 Temperance St., Bowmanville on Saturday, January 17, 2009 from 12 – 1 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Cremation at Bowmanville Crematorium.

TERRY, Catherine Lorna

Peacefully at Hillsdale Estates Oshawa on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in her 92nd year.

Catherine, beloved wife of the late Herbert John Terry (1991). Dear mother of Robert & his wife Sharon of Brantford, Herb & his wife Miriam of Oshawa, and Mark of Toronto. Loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the People Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 8 p.m. Memorial donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated. Visitation Friday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m.

He was born on December 22, 1960 in Oshawa, Ontario. Loved son of Marjorie, Peter (deceased Dec. 20/08) brother of Glenn (Nancy) and Larry (Cathy). Cherished uncle of Sharyl, Matthew and Brennan. Tom will be sadly missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cremation to be arranged by ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, with a memorial service to be held later this spring.

At Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in his 77th year.

Francis, beloved husband of Joyce (nee: Jones). Loved father of Melanie and her husband David Sharpe, Nancy and her husband Chul Lee and John Cowan. Loving grandfather of Alisha, Candice, Christina, Justin, Victoria, Bryce and Dakota. Dear brother of Glenda and her husband Lawrence Sherwin, Ronald and his wife Betty Cowan and the late Madeline May and Beverly Cowan. Dear brother-in-law of Bob May and Dianna Cowan.

GERMAINE, Carter Donald

Age 57 years. Suddenly on Tuesday, January 13, 2009.

Beloved husband of Jackie for 35 years. Dear father of Carter John and Ryan Donald. Dear brother of Muriel & Gerry Plourde and predeceased by his sister Gail Brown. Dear brother-in-law of Debbie Anderson and Teresa Desormeaux. Loving uncle of Michelle & Rob Neil, Michael & Terry Brown. He will be sadly missed by his family, many nieces & nephews, good friends Diane & Lloyd Hatfield and everyone who knew him. Carter was best known for his sense of humour, love of music, his enjoyment of a good game of horseshoes & his favourite pastime, The Toronto Argonauts!

Visitation will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Sunday, January 18th, 2009 from 12 – 2 pm. Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to The Durham Region Cancer Centre.

McLAUGHLIN, Edith Evelyn

Peacefully, on January 13, 2009 at the Marnwood Life Care Center in Bowmanville, at age 83.

Edith (nee Murphy) of Blackstock, beloved wife of the late Roy McLaughlin. Loving mother of Donna and her husband David Kyte, Denis McLaughlin and his wife Jo, and Deb and her husband Ron Vice all of Blackstock. Loved grandmother of Karen, Jason, Susan, Steven, Aaron, Brad, Emily, Rachel, Sean and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family of Edith McLaughlin will receive friends at the Blackstock United Church on Sunday, January 18th from 12 – 2 p.m. A Service to Celebrate Edith’s life will be held in the Church at 2 p.m. with Reverend Linda Saffrey officiating with a reception to follow in the Christian Education Room. Interment Cartwright Union Cemetery in the Spring.

If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque through the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) to the Blackstock United Church Memorial Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
