Passed away after a long and courageous battle with leukemia, on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 67 years.
Beloved son of Dolly Johnston (nee Scheels) and the late Lloyd Francis Johnston. Cherished Companion of Dorothy May Wessbecher. Loving father of Billie-Jean Welsh (Daryl) of Calgary, Alberta and the late Bobbi-Jean Johnston. Survived by brothers Glenn Johnston (Sharon) of Oshawa, William Johnston (Betty) of Kitchener, Gerald Johnston (Connie) of Russell and sisters Barbara Michaud (Gerald) of Arnprior, Sandra Johnston of Arnprior. Linda Johnston (Bob Diotte) of Arnprior and the late Judith Johnston of Castleford. Proud poppa of grandchildren Shea and Seth of Oshawa and Micaela, Brody and Matthew of Calgary. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues and acquaintances.
Most recently Bob was an NSO at Darlington Nuclear Station, Bowmanville, Ontario and President of the UPGWA and the SPFPC Union.
A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 373 Simcoe St. S., Oshawa, Ontario on Saturday March 6th at 9:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the Armouries-Officers Mess, 53 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa, Ontario.

Serene and peaceful! Katharina left us on Friday, February 26th, following a brief illness.
Her journey continues, her legacy remains. A young Katharina left Horodnytchia, Ukraine arriving to Canada via Germany, in 1948, with her husband Stefan Senyk (deceased). Mike Dutczak and Jakiem Krochmal, husbands, also predeceased Katharina. She leaves behind a loving and devoted family: Walter Senyk (Laurie), Olga Senyk, Natalie Howe (Doug) and Sylvia Weeks (Doug). Baba’s grandchildren lived, learned, loved and shared her life: Katrina, Janna, Stefan, Amy, Timothy and Matthew.
Katharina enjoyed a full and active life in Oshawa. She was a member of St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League. Katharina lovingly catered so many weddings and for Oshawa’s Fiesta Week. She also operated the popular Ukrainian Cuisine business on Bloor Street East, Oshawa
