BUDD, Joan Marie

A tiny angel came into our home August 30, 1947 with medical caution that she may be with us for only 2 years.

Her tenacious spirit finally tired February 18, 2010, age 62. Predeceased by very proud and loving parents Patrick and Alice, brother Ken and uncle Wally were devoted to Joanie and tireless in their efforts to motivate and nurture her. Survived by loving sister Shirley (Bill), aunt to Kerry-Lynn (Dan) and Kym (Neil). Great-nieces Siena and Capri have lost their music, dance and colouring buddy, but through Auntie Joanie have learned patience and compassion for people living with disabilities.

Joanie's long journey was assisted through love and support from her special best friend and mentor Betty and her caring family: Cam, Ruth, Community Living Ajax, Pickering and Whitby and Sheila and Rev. Conkey. We wish to extend thanks to Ken's surviving wife Elaine and her family in support of Joanie. Many friends spoke for Joanie when she could not.

Her final journey was supported by caring nurses and staff at Guildwood Extendicare, where a celebration of her life with family and friends will take place in spring. Rest in peace with Dad, Mom, Ken, Uncle Wally and Archie.

Memorial donations can be made to Community Living Ajax, Pickering and Whitby or Sleeping Children Around the World.
