TANOUYE, Kimiye (nee Ogawa) - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful but untimely passing of Kimiye (Kim) Tanouye on May 30, 2000 in her seventy-sixth year. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Richard H. (Jim) Tanouye. Precious mother of sons Rick (Beamsville), Tom (Kit) Beamsville, Art (Jennifer) Welland, Jim (Maureen) St. Catharines, daughters Sheila Duerden (Keith) Welland and Janice Gamble (Gerry) St. Catharines, brother Ed Ogawa (Yukie) Welland, and brother-in-law Sam Nakagawa, Welland. She was also the cherished grandmother of Michael, Christopher, Jesse and Lori Bree Duerden, Jeremy and Geoffrey Gamble, Vanessa and Rebecca Tanouye, Alexander and Hilary Tanouye, Granthin and Brittany Tanouye and many nieces and nephews. Kimiye was predeceased by her father, Tokusaburo Ogawa (1939), her mother, Kiyo Ogawa (1977), her sister Jeanne Nakagawa (1998), and her infant son Richard (1948). Born in Mission City, British Columbia on September 11, 1924, she moved to Welland with her family in 1958. After several years working in family businesses, Kimiye joined the staff of the Welland County General Hospital where she was a valued employee for many years in the Dietary Department. She was also a member of Wesley United Church and the Hamilton chapter of the Canadian Japanese Cultural Centre. According to Kimiye's wishes, cremation has taken place, followed by a private family memorial service at Dixon Funeral Home and interment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In celebration of Mom's generous spirit, donations may be made to the Welland County General Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

VEENEMAN, Janet - "And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die" (John 11:26) After a struggle with cancer, Janet passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2000, at the age of 47 years. Dear wife of John Veeneman, loving mother of James, Christina (T.W.) and Jonathan. Survived by her parents Jantje and Rudy Huften of Orillia, her brothers John and Mardy Huften, Fred and Suzanne Huften, sisters Joyce and Mark Shelswell, Linda and George Oudyk; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Janet worked as a registered nurse in the I.C.U. Ward for many years at the St. Catharines General Hospital and a member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church. The family will receive friends at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 278 Parnell Road, St. Catharines, on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. and Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in Convenant Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Niagara Lake Shore cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. FOXWELL, Samuel David - Peacefully on February 28, 2000 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, in his 73rd year. Dear husband of June Cupolo Foxwell; loving father of Karen Patterson (Gord), Charles Foxwell (Bonnie), and Debbie Foxwell; step-father to David Cupolo, Kelli Anzovino (Joe); dear Poppy to Sam Foxwell (Maria), Earl and Candace Foxwell, Bryan Patterson, Denise Hamilton (Don), and Gene and Charles Foxwell. He will always be remembered as "Sammy" by Bianca, Dakota, Sonny, and Jillian Anzovino. Sam is predeceased by his first wife Rachel (1990) and by his son David (1999). His family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 11:00 o'clock. Interment will follow at Victoria Lawn cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. GASPICH, Joseph - In his 82nd year, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 28, 2000, at the St. Catharines General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Ilene, daughters Debbie Gaspich, Linda (Tom) Greenough and Jodi (Derek) Chapman, granddaughter Madison Greenough, and brother Thomas Gaspich. Joe arrived in Canada in 1928 from Draganic, Croatia, and settled in Niagara-on-the-Lake. A Veteran of World War II, Joe retired from General Motors in 1974 and grape growing in 1997. Mr. Gaspich is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street. A service to celebrate his life will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment at Victoria Lawn cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Lung Association or a charity of your choice.

Beloved husband of Jo-Ann (nee Hunt) Troyan. Loving father of Susan Troyan and her husband Scott Millar of Waterdown, Paul Troyan and his friend Esther of Calgary, Phillip Troyan of Toronto and the late William Joseph Troyan. Cherished playmate of Kokoko. Dear brother of Patricia Beckett of Ajax and Jim Troyan and his wife Barbara of St. Catharines. Brother-in-law of Patti and Lorne Zwaresh of Thornwood, New York and Peter Hunt of St. Catharines. He will be remembered by his Aunt Rose, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Bob was a retired employee after 32 years service with the Ministry of Finance in the Government of Ontario. He was an active member of Holy Rosary Parish and their Men's Club, member of the Old Boy's Lacrosse Association, St. Catharines and a volunteer with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. Family and friends will miss Bob's warm sense of humour , his love and knowledge of sports, his gentle manner and his devotion to those he loved. The family would like to thank all those who have shared their support and love with the Troyan's through Bob's ill health. WILSON, Clifford Hartley - Born March 30, 1914 in Palermo, Ontario, passed away at the Hotel Dieu Hospital on Sunday, February 20, 2000. Cliff is the devoted and loving father of Christine Wilson of Trumansburg, New York. He moved to St. Catharines with his family in 1922. During his life, Cliff worked at a butcher, served in WWII as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, was a long time employee of the Canadian National Railways and brought joy to everyone he met. He was predeceased by his wife Doraine in 1998, by his father William, his mother Clara Harrington, by his brothers Bert, Harv, Jack and Gord, and by many dear friends. He is survived by a brother Bob of St. Catharines. During his battle with cancer he was supported and encouraged by family and friends, especially Diane, Bob and Caleb Smith, Phyllis Wilson, Lilian Wilson, Pam and Bert Verwey, Michele and Brian Fisher, and Diane Fiander. A Memorial Service honouring Cliff will be held at the St. Catharines Rowing Alumni Clubhouse, Henley Island, on Saturday, March 4, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to make a gift in memory of Cliff should do so to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Dear nephew of Lena Kozachenko of Toronto. Bill was born in Thorold and had worked at General Motors, St. Catharines before moving to Los Angeles, California in 1961 where he worked for Sears-Roebuck until returning to St. Catharines in 1979. The family wish to thank Dr. E. F. Minkarious, Dr. W. Gruber, Dr. R. L. Mackett, Dr. A. P. Broski and the Intensive Care Staff at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Cath-arines for the care and concern they had for Bill. Bill is resting at the KARL A. Sadly missed by his "Love" Nellie of 42 years. Loving father of Tom and his wife Evelyn, Betty and her husband Richard Kruitbosch, Peter and his wife Ruth, Patricia and her fiance Brian Warren. Dear Opa to David, Holly, Briana, Rachel, Nathan, Katie, Stephanie and Tim. Oldest brother to Evelyn (Dick) Teeuwsen, Gertie (Charlie) Koopman, Grace (John) Bakker, George (Grace) Miedema and Fred (Lorna) Miedema. Sidney was a supervisor at General Motors for 46 years. He was very active in church life and served as an elder at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church. He also enjoyed serving on the Board of Shalom Manor. The family will receive friends at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 301 Scott St., St. Catharines on Thursday, March 2, 7-9 p.m., Friday, March 3, 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, March 4, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Shalom Manor would be appreciated by the family. TAYLOR, Joseph (Arthur) - On Wednesday, March 1, 2000, A. Joseph Taylor passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 73. Joseph is the loving husband of Jean (nee Leeman) of St. Davids for over 50 years. Dear father of Joseph (Becky) of Oakville, Robert (Marnee) of Waterloo, Lynn (Dan Mines) of St. Davids and Stephen (Lynn) of St. Catharines. He is survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, his sister Jean of St. Thomas and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Joseph was employed at General Motors and retired from the Engineering and Maintenance Department after 36 years of service. He was also a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society and Holy Name Society. Joseph is at the MORSE AND SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. The family will receive their friends at the Morse and Son Chapel from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Vigil for Mr. Taylor will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 3 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at Our Lady of the Scapular Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Niagara Lakeshore cemetery , Niagara-on-the-Lake. In memory of Joseph, donations may be made to the Learning Disability Association of Canada, Palliative Care or to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
