Charles Lowe Thomson Of Oshawa, Ontario, passed away on October 25, 2000, at Lakeridge Hospital, Oshawa. Charles was born in Greenock, Scotland, the son of the late Hugh and Margaret Thomson. He had lived in Oshawa for 2 years and previously in Kingston for 42 years. Charles was a custodian at the post office and had been retired for 16 years, he had also worked at the Kingston Shipyards and the Ontario Hospital. Charles was married for 51 years to Helen (Cameron). He attended St. Mungo's School in Greenock, Scotland. Charles was a Lifetime Member of #560 Legion. He enjoyed soccer, darts and shuffleboard. He is survived by his wife Helen, children Patricia, James, Andrew, Jay and Kim, his brother Joe Thomson, Greenock, Scotland and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Helen Regimbald and seven brothers. The funeral was held on October 30, 2000. Pallbearers were James Thomson, Andy Thomson, Jay Thomson, Paul Treneer, Chris Treneer and Dave Treneer. Interment St. Mary's cemetery.020707

Apprenticeship: Odessa Auto Services, February 8, 1952. Business: Bud Young's Garage, Odessa. Recreation: Driver and owner of stock cars and thoroughbred race horses. Trustee of Hunting Camp #24. Ralph John (Jack) Purvis Of Kingston passed away at home on December 18, 2000. He was 67. Jack was born in Glenvale, Ontario, the son of the late John and Jessie Purvis, and had lived in the Kingston area for 44 years. Jack attended Glenvale Public School and Sydenham High School. He was a Firefighter with the Kingston Fire Department for 12 years and worked for Parks & Recreation before retirement in 1981. Jack attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Kingston and Lakeview Gospel Assembly, Verona. He was a former member of the Kingston Professional Firefighters' Association, and active member of the CCB Friendship Club, Kingston. From 1969-1976 he organized bus trips to Kathryn Kuhlman Services in Canada and the U.S. He enjoyed music, spending time at the cottage and visiting friends. Though disabled since 1965 he maintained a sense of humour and had an inner strength and fortitude to continue working to provide for his family. He gained much satisfaction in helping others in whatever way he could, and although we miss him, we trust one day to meet again. Jack is survived by his wife June, son Jack and wife Christine, daughter Jo-Ann Klieber and husband Frank, grandson Frank Klieber, granddaughters Kelsey Klieber, Carrie and Courtney Purvis. Father and mother-in-law James and Minnie Hegadorn, brothers-in-law Kenneth Hartman, David Hegadorn and friend Karin McVicker, Rev. Walter Hegadorn, sisters-in-law Joan Purvis, Carol Hegadorn and June Hegadorn, also many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis Hartman and brother James R. Purvis. The funeral was held on December 21, 2000 with Pastor David Spurrell officiating. Interment Christ Church cemetery. 051905

Spencer Murton Caird Of Godfrey passed away after a short illness on January 5, 2001. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Caird was born at Leland in Storrington Township where he attended Leland Public School but has lived in Godfrey for most of his adult life. He was a veteran of WWII (2nd Anti-Tank Unit). For 24 1/2 years he worked as a plumber with DND. He also worked for the road crew for the county of Frontenac and farmed his own land. Mr. Caird retired about 20 years ago. His special interests included playing cards, bingo, attending family gatherings, fishing, country music and lending a helping hand to neighbours and friends. Mr. Caird is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, 9 months, Sylvia Knott; daughter Norma Knox (Dale); son, Randy Green (Judy); stepsons Michael Knott (Karen), Kevin Knott (Susie); stepdaughter, Linda Buchan (Kevin); brothers, Raymond (Ola) and Chester; sisters Marion Robson, Blanche Clark, and Iva Lake; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Maude Caird (nee Convery) and brothers Fred, Carmen, Clifton and Lorne. The funeral was held January 9, 2001 with Rev. Elaine Smith officiating. Following cremation, inurnment took place at Glenhaven cemetery , Glenburnie. 091642

Francis Johnston beloved wife of Marion Bush. Dear stepfather of Gail Spencer (Bill), John Little (Kathy), and Debra Drysdale (Bill). Will be missed by six grandchildren. Dear brother of Gertrude Kenehan, and brother-in-law of Carl Barr. Predeceased by his parents Francis and Mary Johnston, his sister Janet Barr, his brother William, sister-in-law Ferne Johnston, and brother -in-law Gerald Kenehan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
