She had been, for over twenty years, a dedicated and creative member of the staff of Sarnia-Lambton Centre for Children and Youth. She played a vital role in the creation and development of mental health services for children and their families in the community including the Lochiel Drop In Centre and The House By The Side of the Road. Elizabeth was elected to 'Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges', 1971 in recognition of outstanding merit and and accomplishments as a student at Lambton College. She was awarded the Early Childhood Education Award for contributions to the field, The Canada 125th Anniversary Medal for extraordinary contributions to the Sarnia area in promoting good citizenship and the needs of children, the 1994 YMCA Canada Peace Medal for outstanding contributions as a peacemaker and selected to the Mayor's Honour list 1995' for her contributions to the community.
