Beloved husband and loving companion for almost 54 years of Dorothy (nee Myers). Dearest father of John and wife Barbara, Ruthven; Richard, Richmond Hill and the late Wendy Lue (1976). Dear grandfather of Pamela and fiance Jeremy Wigfield, Michael and Gregory. Loving brother of Walter and Joyce Baker, Bowden, Alta. and brother-in-law of Gwen Baker, Surrey, B.C. and Vivian Baker, Wadena, Sask. Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Lucy Baker, brothers, Raymond and Roy (Bill), sister, Grace McKenzie, brothers-in-law, Alfred and Robert Myers and sister-in-law, Lila Cronk. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and good friends. Sidney was a longtime employee of Bikoe Pest Control in Toronto and the York County Seperate School Board. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. #84 Leamington and an avid golfer and member of Orchard View Golf Club. Sidney was also the world's biggest Toronto Blue Jay fan. Jean was a member of Leamington United Church, Leamington U.C.W., Leamington-Mersea Historical Society, Leamington Half Century Centre and past member of the Leamington Lawn Bowling Club. She was retired from the Burlington Board of Education as a teacher of elementary and music in 1972. She was also a past member of St. Giles United Church, Hamilton, serving as secretary of the Official Board and 30 years as member of the choir. Dear Oma to 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Predeceased by one grand daughter (1983). Grant, John Beloved husband of Avril and father of Adrian and Julia, died at Met Hospital on Monday, August 5, 2002 after a valiant 4 year fight against Multiple Myeloma. John was born in Hull, UK on June 28, 1944 and married Avril on July 23, 1966. Dearly loved son of Joyce and Les, brother of Howard (Barbara), son in law of Iris Wilkinson and the late Teddy (1991). Friend to many, especially Gambit, his "buddy". John and Avril emigrated to Canada in 1970. The family lived in Toronto and Fralick's Beach, Port Perry, before finally settling in Leamington, Ontario in 1984. Until his illness, John worked most of his life as a mould maker. He was a gourmet chef, loved his garden, but most of all, his family and his early morning walks on the beach at Point Pelee with Gambit. John's family would like to thank the staff of 4 North and the Medical Day Care at Met Hospital for their patience and loving care of "Sir Grant", Dr. Curtis and Pam at Windsor Cancer Centre, Dr. Jim Gorrell and staff, emergency staff at Leamington Hospital, and the many home-care nurses. Thanks to Dr. Keith Stewart and staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, where John had 2 stem cell transplants. To our friends, thank you all for your love and support. John will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Please no flowers. Donations to the McCarty Cancer Foundation (keep up the fight guys) or 4 North Oncology Unit, Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus. At John's request, there will be no visitation.
