DUNN – DR. JOHN ROBERT “AKELA” At home in his garden on July 14, 2002 DR. JOHN ROBERT DUNN, age 72. Beloved husband of Phyllis Audrey (Lowham) for over 46 years. Loving father of Christopher (Blanche) Dunn, Ottawa, Naomi Dunn, London, Malcolm Dunn, Sarnia, and Robert (Ruth) Dunn, Corunna. Cherished grandfather of Sheila (Dave) Spence, Teresa (Steve) Boyd, Paul Clark, Jonathan Dunn, Krystal Dunn, Rachanne Dunn, and Rayneata Dunn. Great-grandfather of Jordan Dunn, and Talia Spence. Predeceased by sister Jean Hixon and parents Herbert and Maud Dunn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, and brothers and sister-in-law. John was active in Cub Scouts with 49 years service; 39 of those years as Akela at the 23rd St. Bartholomew’s Cub Pack. He was an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Sarnia, and of the Diocese of Huron. John was a retiree of Polysar after 30 years as a research chemist. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church.. Reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation with interment Beechwood cemetery , Ottawa, at a later date. AMBROISE - At London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus, on Friday, September 13, 2002, ANNE MARIE (MacDONALD) AMBROISE, of Sarnia. Beloved wife of the late Maurice Ambroise (1971). Cherished mother of Rick, Susan and her husband Kevin Fisher, Dan and Denise. Loving grandmother of Andrew, Karen, Kelly, Mike, Kendra, Devon and Patrick. Sister of Denise and Pat Connolly and Mike and Joan MacDonald. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday where prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 1011 Oak Ave., Sarnia. Grandfather of Michelle Van Dyk and her husband Jeremie, Jacqueline and Paul Benoit and Jeffrey and Danielle McRae. Great-grandfather of Devyn Benoit-Wilson and Joshua Benoit-Wilson and Ava Van Dyk. Brother of Lionel Coulombe, Marie-Rose Martel and Clemence Marcil. Predeceased by brothers Adrian, Lucien, Alphonse, Amadee, Fidelis and Bernadin and sisters Valeda Dupuis and Sister Bertha Coulombe. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Fields, George

FIELDS - After a brief fight with cancer on Monday, June 10, 2002. GEORGE (FOGGY) FIELDS, age 84 of Sarnia. Husband of the late Dorothy (1998). Dear father of Mark and Linda, Brights Grove, Debbie Beckerton and Jim Woodward, Corunna and Donna Fields, Sarnia. Poppa of Paul Fields, Tanya Fields, Angela Beckerton and Scott Tokley. Great Poppa of Nikolas and Brandon. Brother-in-law of Fred and Doris Sooley, Mississauga, John and Shirley Sooley, New Brunswick and Faye Kent, Sarnia. Son-in-law of Lydia Goulding, Sarnia. Also survived by several nieces & nephews and his special family; George, Anne, Louise and Joan Malnachuk. Predeceased by son Wayne (1948), in laws Lloyd and Mim Kent and special family Ella and Danny Malnachuk. George was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association (Sarnia Branch) He served Canada in W.W. II on board the H.M.C.S. Lethbridge protecting convoys in the North Atlantic. He came to Sarnia in 1975 to work at the Sarnia Jail as a Corrections Officer. He worked at Burwash Industrial Farm near Sudbury from 1946 until it's closing in 1974. After retirement in 1982, he continued his public service as a worker/volunteer at the Provincial Courthouse. He was an avid card player and almost every Sunday he could be seen playing in a tournament somewhere in Sarnia. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 where the Royal Canadian Naval Association will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Funeral Service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with The Rev. Dr. Don Lockett officiating. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada, 401 St. Clair St., Point Edward, N7V 1P2, or the charity of your choice.

James, Frances Madeline

Date of Death: July 19th 2002
JAMES - FRANCES MADELINE (GRACE) JAMES, in her 98th year, died Friday, July 19th, 2002 at home with her family. Surviving are her daughter Jane Hunter, husband Don, children Mark, wife Megan and son Callum, Scott, wife Kathleen and daughter Montana, Jennifer Klaudi, husband Fred and sons Matthew and Easton. Also survived by son David, wife Mary, son Jeffrey and wife Sheri and son Bradley. She was predeceased by her husband John Paul James, her sisters Miss Alice Grace, Mrs. Marguerite Sinclair, Mrs. Bessie Walker, Mrs. Pauline Beattie, Mrs. Lieuellen Davidson, brother Mr. Charles Grace. Frances was a graduate of the Ontario Ladies College in Household Science, a devoted member of St. George's Anglican Church, St. Martha's Auxiliary and Sunday School Teacher for 30 years. She was also a member of the Honourable Alexander Vidal Chapter I.O.D.E. There will be a private family service followed by a memorial celebration on Saturday, July 27 at 11 a.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, followed by a reception at the Parish House. Arrangements by McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Directors (344-3131).

Jaremek, Frank

JAREMEK - At his residence on June 21, 2002, FRANK JAREMEK, age 79, of Sarnia. Dear brother of Jan Jaremek and his wife Feliksa of Sarnia, Regina Knapiak, Lonia Biala, Leokadia Jakubowska of Poland. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Agnes (1992) and son Stefan (1974), sister Helena Ciesielska and brother Tadeusz Jaremek. Frank served in the Polish Army during World War II. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 and Polish Combatants Association. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Branch 62 Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a memorial service 7 p.m. Tuesday and parish prayers will be offered at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Church 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. JENNINGS - At Sarnia General Hospital, Palliative Care on August 15, 2002, WILLIAM JENNINGS, age 86, of Sarnia. Cherished father of Diane Bending & husband David, Sarnia. Loving grandfather of Kelly Bowman & husband Kenneth, Stephanie Pearsall & husband David, Michael Bending all of Guelph, Robert Yorke & wife Gillian McKenzie-Yorke, Kitchener and Ward Yorke & wife Melanie, Waterloo. Dear great-grandfather of Joshua, Jacob, Lucas & Hannah Pearsall, Megan, Kenny & Maxwell Bowman and Mitchell Yorke. Predeceased by his wife Edith (1987), brother Fred Jennings and sisters Rose Burke and May Miller. Bill was a veteran of W.W.II, serving in England with the Royal Canadian Army. He was an active Life Member of the Sarnia Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow. Bill was a volunteer driver for the C.N.I.B. for many years. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel with the Rev. Evelyn McLachlan officiating. Interment Lakeview cemetery. After a courageous struggle with lung cancer, Andrew James Kapala died at home Thursday evening, June 20, 2002 in the arms of his loving wife and companion of 62 years, Margaret (Guzi) Kapala. Dear father of 3 daughters, Shirley (Lloyd) Andrew of Petrolia, Nancy Kapala of Sarnia, and Carol (Barry) Lockhart of Port Colborne. Caring grandfather of Michael (Sharon) Mestancik of Brockville, Cindy (Paul) Vanderhoeden of Owen Sound, Steven (Joseé) Mestancik of Sarnia and Megan Lockhart of Port Colborne. Loving great-grandfather of Natalie and Daniel Mestancik, Kara, Taylor and Reneé Vanderhoeden and Shane, Corey and Mitchell Mestancik. Dear brother of Daniel (Helen) Kapala of Sarnia and William 'Bill' (Doreen) Kapala of Miller Lake. Brother-in-law of Helen (Jack) Wilkinson, Frank (Margaret Wheeler) Guzi. Predeceased by his parents Daniel (1972) and Elizabeth (Roman) Kapala (1961), brother and sister-in-law James (1977) and Elizabeth Guzi. Uncle Andy to many nieces and nephews. Resting at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, where visitation will take place Sunday evening 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, June 24 at Sacred Heart Church. Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to V.O.N., 1705 London Line, Sarnia N7W 1B2 or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
