Ross Elizabeth Patricia, at her home in Port Dover on Monday, February 3, 2003 in her 69th year. Predeceased by her husband Robert "Bob" Ross. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Vance and Dianne Mummery of Simcoe, John & Heather Mummery of Delhi, Diana and Brian Dougherty, Dorothea and Bob Doherty and Leola and Ed LaForme all of Port Dover. Dear sister of Francis McFall, Elizabeth and Jim Runyan and Marianne and Raul Rio. Predeceased by a brother Thomas McFall. Dearly loved Grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Ross is at the THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (583-1530) for visitation on Wednesday (today) 7-9 pm. HEWER, Anna Marie Caley - passed away peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, January 17, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Anna's involvement in her community included participating in the development of organized Figure Skating in Port Dover. She was an active member of the Simcoe Little Theatre and a member of the Norfolk General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Anna also enjoyed horses and English Style riding. She received her D1 certificate from the Canadian Pony Club (Rundale Farms). Her parents James and Sabrina Caley and her sister Doris Yerex of Port Dover predeceased her. She is survived by her loving husband John Frederick Hewer, sons Mark, Kevin, Dean and wife Melodie, grandchildren Paisley Michelle, Sean Ward, Trevor John, Sean David; and great grandchildren Chad Andrew and Adam Riley. A service of memorial and life remembrance will take place at the THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover, ON (519) 583-1530 on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 1 pm. Rev. John Cruickshank and Rev. Malcolm Muth officiating. Interment will follow at the Port Dover cemetery. LONG, Middleton, Alexander "Mid" - of Port Dover on Monday, April 7, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton in the love and comfort of his family. Mid, in his 74th year, was a loving husband and best friend of Shirley (Stilwell). Son of the late Craig and Elsie Long. Much loved and proud father of Gary of Guelph, Roger and his wife Glenda of Keewatin and Cindy Macaulay and her partner Cameron Houston of Port Dover. Papa Mid was the cherished grandfather of Cassidy and Kaytee Long. Will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Joseph of Port Stanley, Frances Smith of Port Dover, Phoebe Chapman of Port Stanley, Alfred and his wife Irene of Port Dover, Charlie of Port Dover, Thelma Partridge of Simcoe, Robert and his wife Jean of Port Dover, Peggy Trembley and her husband Norman of Port Dover, and Fred Sr. and his wife Bernice of Port Dover. Predeceased by a brother James and a sister Mabel Diggins and brothers-in-law Dorien, Douglas and Harold. Also survived by brother and sister-in-laws, Robert Wilson, Helen and Lloyd Dunbar, and Kenneth and Joan Stilwell. Predeceased by sister-in-law Ruth Wilson and his mother and father-in-law Harley and Gertrude Stilwell. Will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Mid was born and raised in Port Dover. He served as Treasurer of the City of Nanticoke until his retirement, Clerk-Treasurer of the Town of Port Dover prior to Regionalization, a member of Grace United Church and also a member and Past President of the Port Dover Kinsmen. A Memorial and Remembrance Service for Mid will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Church. Rev. Brian Elder officiating. Cremation has taken place. BILLARD, Ray Wilson, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 in his 69th year. Ray, devoted husband and soul mate of Joan (Richardson) Billard. Dear father and step-father of Paul Billard of North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Mark Pozarycki of Guelph, Helena Wilkinson (Don) of Port Dover, Teresa Gottschalk (Tom) of Brampton and Susan Johnson of Shelburne. Loving grandfather of 7 grandchildren; Jennifer (Gary), Jeffery (Alison), Troy, Nicole, Talon, Sasha (Steve) and Stevie, and 4 great grandchildren; Tori, Colin, Ethan and Braeden. Lovingly remembered by his brothers Jack (Shirley) of North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Hank (Gayle) of Cambridge and sister Phyllis (John) Morrison of Port Dover. Ray will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Wilson and Julia Ann Billard. Born in Newfoundland, Ray was a native of North Sydney, Nova Scotia before coming to Ontario in 1976. He was a 20 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, last a member of the Hugh Allen Branch 158, Port Dover, he was an avid dart and euchre player. He was also a collector of old western movies, beginning with silent films. Beloved and devoted wife of John. Loving mother of Lee Anne Ventoso and her husband Joe, Tyler and his girlfriend Amy Spragg. Cherished grandmother of Claire Victoria. Dearly loved sister of Paulette Porter. Aunt Betty Anne will be sadly missed by her nephews, Colin Porter and his wife Anne Marie and her special grand neice Kayla, and Aaron Porter and his wife Robin. Predeceased by her parents James Long and Willanna Sullivan and her brother-in-law Rick Porter. Betty Anne will be fondly remembered by all that knew her for her loving smile and kind, gentle spirit. Smith, Marvin Douglas, of Delhi, suddenly on Friday, July 18, 2003 in his 67th year. Beloved son of Frances "Fannie" Smith and the late Dorien. Loved companion of Diane. Loving father of Dorian of St. Thomas and Laura Lee of Delhi, also survived by children, Roger, Scott, Barb and Colleen and several grandchildren all of British Columbia. Dear bother and brother-in-law to Gene and Kathy, Harley and Sylvia all of St. Thomas, Terry & Betty of Normandale, Russell and Marjorie of Brantford, Monty and Annette of Delhi and Janice Stokes of St. Thomas. Marvin will be lovingly remembered by his many, many nieces and nephews. Marvin was employed at Delhi District High School for many years as custodian. He was an avid fisherman and loved to garden, as well as spending many hours playing his guitar and enjoying music. PHILLIPS, Joseph Freeman of St. Patrick Street, Port Dover, peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital, on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 in his 81st year. Joe, beloved husband of Irene (Noble) Phillips, dear father of Edward Phillips, Joanne Novinka and her husband David and Diane Lampman and her husband Brian, loving grandfather of 5 grandchildren; Michael, Leslie, Robin, Philip and Derek, and 1 great grandson; Nicholas. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Bill and his wife Mary, sister Lois Phillips and sister-in-law Lois Snider as well as his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Francis L. and Stella Mae (Brock) Phillips, brothers Charles and Gordon "Bolt" Phillips and sister Lily Giles. Joe served with the Royal Canadian Army, Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders during W.W. II. Prior to his retirement in 1976 he was employed with the American Can, Simcoe and was a 50 year member and Past President of the Hugh Allen Branch No. 158, R.C.L., Pt. Dover. In keeping with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Get Together will be held at the Hugh Allen Branch No. 158, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Dover on Saturday, July 12th, 2003 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Cancer Society would be kindly acknowledge by the family.
