ROBERTS, Barbara Joyce (nee Moon) Loving wife of the late Len Roberts, caring mother of Gary (Cheryl) and Alan (Janine) and extremely devoted (but active) grandmother of Geoffrey, Erica, Jeremy, and Dillon. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 21st, 2003. Barbara was a member of City View Tennis Club since late the 60's and enjoyed years of fun and friendship. Since 1993 she also enjoyed being a member and serving on the board of the Widow Support Group, and was a dedicated volunteer with numerous organizations including Children at Rish (Autism), Crystal Bay Special Education Centre and the CHEO Foundation. In 2001, her friends at CHEO recognized her support by making her a member of the Order of the Good Bear. In January 2002, she was diagnosed with cancer and yet Barbara soldiered on with "a stiff upper lip" displaying grace, dignity and courage. Barbara enjoyed another year and a half of living life to the fullest. Special thanks to Dr. Mimeault, her private nurse Gigi and especially Dr. Louis Coulombe for Nanny's outstanding care. The family will receive friends at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore Drive and Baseline Road) Nepean on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Cancer Society.
