DANYLIW - At Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital, Petrolia on November 16, 2002, Thomas Danyliw, age 88, of Wyoming. Husband of the late Maria Ann (Paczkowski) Danyliw. Dear father of Fred Paczkowskyj and grandfather of George, Peter and Carmen, all of Chicago. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina Street, Sarnia 7-9 pm Friday with Panachyda at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Saturday at St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church by Fr. Edward Yarema. Dear father of Onorio and his wife Joanne, Sherwood Park, Alta, and Luigi and his wife Maria, Sarnia. Grandmother of David and Vanessa, Christopher and Delia, Steven and Sarah, Laura and Giuseppe, Melissa and Gina. Sister of Francesca, Candida and Belardino, Italy and Sister Ermelinda, New York. Predeceased by brothers Archangelo, Luigi and Vincenzo. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Church. CORNER - Peacefully with his family at his side, at Sarnia General Hospital on Saturday, March 8, 2003 EDWARD 'ERIC' CORNER, age 90 of Sarnia. Beloved husband of the late Ida Mae (Dampier) (1997). Dear father of Nora (Bob) Boucher, Sarnia, Ann Randall, Sarnia, Rick (Karen) Corner, R.R #1 Wyoming, and Peggy (Brent) Scobie, Orangeville. Loving grandfather of Julie (Andrew) Levine, Owings Mills, Maryland, Craig (Paula) Boucher, Sarnia, Kristin Boucher, Sarnia, Brad Corner (Fianc e Jean White), Hamilton, Stephen and Michael Randall, St. Albert, AB., Ryan and Jeff Corner, R.R. #1 Wyoming, Erica and Curtis Scobie, Orangeville. Also surviving are sister-in-law Gertie Corner, nephews Bob and David Corner, Thunder Bay. Special daughter-in-law Trudy (Percival)(Corner) Smith, Sarnia, brothers-in-law John (Collena) Dampier, Alfred (Cookie) Dampier, Nipigon and their children and grandchildren, as well as 4 great-granddaughters. Predeceased by parents Edward and Margaret (Humphrey) Corner, son Rod (1981), brothers Sydney (1938) and Douglas (1992) and sisters Marguerite Christie (1993) and Agnes Corner (1914). Educated at Drew School and Fort William C.I., North Bay Normal School (1930-1931) and the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 1953, Eric taught elementary school in Slate River and Ghost River, Continuation school in Nipigon and Brownsville and secondary school in Sarnia. (SCITS, Northern, Central and St. Clair). After 42 years of teaching, he retired in 1973 as Head of Guidance at St. Clair. He was an active member of Dunlop United Church since 1953. He had served as Clerk of Session, envelope steward, treasurer, and more recently as an assistant to the Secretary. He was a member of the Retired Teachers of Ontario, the Sarnia Pensioners Bowling League and D.E.B.T. Bridge Club. At Eric's request his body was donated to medical science. A memorial service will be held at Dunlop United Church (Rosedale Ave., Sarnia) on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd, Sarnia, N7T 4Y1 or The Canadian Cancer Society, 118 Victoria St., Sarnia, N7T 5W8. Allen, Gladys Ina Marie

ALLEN, GLADYS INA MARIE (nee BURGE) - passed away peacefully and with great dignity on Friday, February 7, 2003 in her 87th year. Predeceased by her husband Wilfred Wright Allen, parents John Emil and Emma Burge, sisters Evelyn Slater and Mildred VanHorne and brother Roy Burge. Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her children Mary Patricia (Trish) and Linda (Michael Ledgett). Her wisdom and strength will continue to inspire her much cherished grandchildren Katherine, Kristin and Paul (Catherine Angus) and great grandson Patrick, her eleven nieces and nephews, many extended family members and friends and the scores of students she guided through the mysteries of mathematics. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2003 at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina Street, Sarnia. Funeral Service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at 1 p.m. Interment Lakeview cemetery. Dear mother of Ann Marie & Michael Yorke, Toronto, and mother-in-law of Ann Haines, Sarnia. Grandma to Christopher, Ken, and Rebecca. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Paul, parents Mary & Alex McLellan; sister and brothers Beatrice, Harold, Allan, John, Arnold and granddaughter Katherine. O'Donnell, Constance

Date of Death: March 25th 2003
O'DONNELL - Constance (Connie) Mary (nee Hinds), November 21, 1910 - March 25, 2003, in Sarnia General Hospital after a short illness. Predeceased by her husband A. J. (Lefty) O'Donnell, and two brothers. Connie will be missed by her children Rosemary (Dr. W. Don Hewson), Deborah and Dr. Michael O'Donnell (Dr. Anne Woods), Hamilton and grandchildren Carly Hewson and Caitlin O'Donnell; her sister Florence McBean,R.N., St. Catherines; nieces Terry McBean and Mary Gris, nephews Robert McBean and Bill McCann and their families; and longtime family friends Ted Lockwood, Jean Walker, Carol Brown, and Ron and Sheila Payne. Connie was a renaissance woman, courageous, compassionate, generous to neighbours and friends and with a sense of honour. Others drew on her experience, knowledge and pragmatic advice. She graduated from the University of Toronto (St. Michael's College) with a BA and MA in classics, teaching these subjects before becoming one of the first women school inspectors in Edmonton, Alta. Connie was involved with the Girl Guides and Brownies in Edmonton and Mississauga, Amnesty International, the Catholic Women's League, the University Women's Club, St. Michael's College, the Scarborough Foreign Missions, and the Canadian Wildlife Federation. She had a life-long interest and involvement in educational matters. She also supported agencies dealing with street children and promoting the ordination of women priests. She enjoyed travels in North America, Europe and parts of Asia, was an avid reader with broad interests, a tennis player, skier and golfer in her younger years and proud of her roots in Simcoe County (Barrie) Ont. Her physician Dr Richard Cheong, gave Connie wonderful care and, along with the nurses and staff of Sarnia General Hospital, did much to ensure her comfort and dignity in her last days. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St. Friday 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 1465 Lecaron, Sarnia, Cremation to follow. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Lambton Hospital Foundation, 89 Norman St., Sarnia N7T 6S3.
