SOWINSKI - A man of wisdom and hope has joined our Lord at the card playing table on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at Sarnia General Hospital. JOSEPH A. SOWINSKI, of Sarnia born 82 years ago on November 19, 1920 in Brethor County (near New Liskeard) Ontario. Devoted husband (58 years) of Jenny (Ptasnick). Exemplary father of Walter and his wife Sandi, Kitchener, Dennis & wife Mary Ann, Dean & friend Barb, Cathy Tomkins & husband Ray and Johanne Fillion & husband Laurie, all of Sarnia. Loving grandfather of Lisa & Kevin Dochstader, Christopher ( Rosemarie) & Randy Tomkins, Jason & Michelle Sowinski, Sandra Heim, Maureen Padden, Jennifer, Cheryl, John- Paul and Amanda Fillion, Kendra, Trevor, Katelyn and Joel Sowinski. Great grandfather of Kingsley, Sydney, Keirsten, Jennifer and Samantha. Great-great grandfather of Kayin and Lenaya. Brother of Anastasia Gorecki, Helen Chynces, Agatha (Guy) Gosselin, Kay (Ken) Jackson, Paul (Florence) Sowinski, Sarnia, Theresa Sarcevich, Ottawa and Peter (Peggy) Sowinski, New Liskeard. Predeceased by his precious daughter Christina Dochstader (1986) and his parents Brunoslaw and Anna (Smaglinski). Mr. Sowinski proudly served his country during WWII with the Highland Light Infantry. He was a loyal retiree of Lambton College as a 4th Class Engineer. He was a dedicated volunteer of St. Vincent de Paul (Past President), previous member of the Legion of Mary, church usher and a member 3rd Degree, Knights of Columbus (Council 11164). Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday where prayers will be offered at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict's Church (Oak & Lansdowne). Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd, N7T 4Y1.

Gignac, Yvette Elodie

GIGNAC On Tuesday, January 14, 2003, after a lengthy illness. YVETTE ELODIE (CLOUTIER) GIGNAC, age 87 passed away peacefully at St. Joseph s Hospital 4th C.C. Yvette Gignac was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Paul Gignac (1988). She is survived by Rita and Tony Straatman, Helen and Robert LaCroix, Laura and Kinaar Rutherford, Donald Gignac, Gilbert and Beverly Gignac (Ajax), and Irene and Herb Sponer (Toronto). Yvette is survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Dr. Lynn Straatman and husband Dr. Stephane Flibotte, (Vancouver), Paul Straatman (Toronto), Mark and Sara Straatman (London), Cheryl Straatman, Keith LaCroix and fiancee Rhonda Gillesby, Craig LaCroix, Lori Gignac, Michelle Gignac, Andrea Gignac, Amanda Rutherford (London), Lance Rutherford, Chantell Gignac (Ajax), Allison Gignac (Ajax) and Adam Gignac (Ajax). Yvette has 1 surviving sister Regina Menard (Clericy, Quebec). Two brothers Leo and John Cloutier predeceased Yvette. Yvette was a member of the Catholic Women s League. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter s Church with Fr. Zbigniew Sawicki, celebrant. Cremation to follow. Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. Dear father of George and wife Evelyn, Irene, Stan, John, Henry and his wife Renee. Loving grandfather of Amanda, Cyrus, Dezriee, and Jazzmine. Dear brother of Regina Knapiak, Lonia Biala, Leokadia Jakubowska of Poland. Predeceased by his parents, Stanley & Helena, sister Helena Ciesielska and brothers Tadeusz and Frank Jaremek. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia 7-9 p.m. Friday where prayers will be offered at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Church 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003. Predeceased by husband Michael (2002) & daughter-in-law Patricia (Luther) Lukasiewicz. Loving mother of Ellen & Franz Brunath (Florida), Michael Lukasiewicz (Sarnia), and Gerry & Donna Lukasiewicz (London). Cherished Oma, she also leaves behind grandchildren & great grandchildren, Rudy Brunath (Florida), Franz-Erich & Heather Brunath (Florida), Jeff, Kyle & Karli Lukasiewicz (Sarnia), Jennifer Lukasiewicz (Sarnia), Arthur, Erin & Teegan Lukasiewicz (Sarnia), Theresa Lukasiewicz, Scott & Joshua Patterson (Sarnia). Predeceased by her parents, Albert & Klara Binkle. Thank you to the nurses of Palliative Care and Dr. Yoshida. Cremation has taken place. Loving husband of Jean (McLean) McIntyre. Dear father of Jean Marie Riberdy and her husband Rick, Windsor, Anne McIntyre Lacroix and her husband Gabe, Sarnia, and Wilfred Thomas McIntyre, Sarnia. Cherished papa of Brian and Branden Riberdy, Sheena, Jordan, and Brittany Lacroix, and Jessica McIntyre. Brother of Jessie McIntyre, Mary Burchell, Hughie McIntyre and Joseph McIntyre. Also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Buddy, Johnny, Normie and James, sisters Catherine and Gertrude and parents Angus and Catherine (McIssac) McIntyre. Wilfred worked at Prestolite for over 23 years and with the Sarnia Separate School Board for over 15 years. Sister of Ralph and Jeannie Snow, Florida, George and Sharon Snow, Bill and Glenda Snow and Elroy Snow, all of Toronto and Yvonne Yacynuk and husband Ted. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. OWENS - Suddenly, on January 22, 2003 WILLIAM GORDON 'BILL' OWENS, age 63 of Wilkesport. Loving husband of Kathleen (Goldring) for 36 years. Cherished father of Gordon, Aurora and Ken, Hamilton. Brother of Lloyd Owens and his wife Ruth, Wheatley, and Betty and her husband Les Begarnie, Sarnia. Brother-in-law of Betty and Eric Manning, Victoria, B.C.. Predeceased by parents Gordon and Elsie Owens. Also survived by many aunts, cousins, and nieces, nephews and one uncle. Bill was an active member of Central United Church and was a retiree of Ethyl Corporation with over 30 years service. After retirement, Bill enjoyed running a farm that included horses, lamas, and many other animals. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held Friday January 24th 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at Central United Church (Brock and George Sts., Sarnia).
