At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Public General campus on Thursday, March 29, 2001, Barbara Hundt, 73, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Dr. John J. Hundt (1990). Born in Toronto in 1928, daughter of the late Kate (Thompson) and John A. Puffer, Barb worked for Bell Canada. She also worked as a vet assistant, a home maker, and was a member of St. Joseph's Hospital Guild, of St. Joseph's Church and the Maple City Centre for Older Adults. Dear mother of John and Ramona Hundt of Chatham, Deborah Elston and Blair of Chatham and Jim and Marian Hundt also of Chatham. Cherished grandmother of Hans Hundt, Byron and Richard Hundt and Megen and Morgan Elston. Dear sister of Alan Puffer and his wife Laura of Dearborn, Mich. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and by good friend Ken Durfy. Predeceased by a daughter Catherine Allen (1987), twin grandchildren Jonathon Andrew and Catherine Anne in 1998. Friends and relatives were received at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Monday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Parish prayers were said at 7:30 p.m. on April 1. Burial was in St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to the St. Joseph's Church Restoration Fund or the Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Gordon (Sam), 98 years, on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the Meadow Park Nursing Home. Dear son of the late George Marlatt and the former Carrie Thomas. Beloved husband of over 72 years of Reta. Dear father of Mrs. Irwin (Shirley) Webster of Rondeau Park, Mrs. Robert (Brenda Joyce) Read, and Mrs. Neal (Marlene) Hendrie, both of Raleigh Township. Survived by one brother and one sister. Predeceased by six brothers and one sister. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Marlatt was employed with Union Gas, retiring in 1967. Friends called at the Alexander Funeral Home, 245 Wellington St. West, from where the funeral service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Jensen of Park Street United Church officiating. Interment was in Botany cemetery. At Victoria Residence in Chatham on Friday, March 30, 2001, Clara Julia Teahen, in her 100th year, wife of the late John J. Teahen (1969). Born in London in 1901, daughter of the late Clara (Herres) and William Groom, she lived in Chatham for over 75 years. After a life time of guidance and love, she leaves a son, Jack and his wife Doris of Grand Bend, daughters Doris Reader of Chatham, Mary Lou and her husband Kenneth Gibb of London, and Joan and her husband Leo Clement of Chatham; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Groom of London. At her request, there was no visitation at the funeral home. A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on Monday, April 2, 2001 at St. Joseph's Church. Burial took place in St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to the St. Joseph's Church Restoration Fund would be appreciated.

Suddenly at his home in Harwich Township on Tuesday, March 27, 2001, Maurice Eugene, Zimmer, age 58. Born in Chatham on July 4, 1942, son of the late Marion (Edwards) and Eugene Zimmer, he lived and farmed all his life in Harwich. He will be sadly missed by his uncle, Milton Edwards, by cousins Carolyn and Connie Edwards, Veronica Tanguay, Ruthanne Spence, Mary Ellen Smith, Charlie Zimmer, Mary Marchand, and Eileen Bray; and best friend and executor Mike Birkby. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South, from where the funeral service was conducted on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at 11 a.m. with Fr.
