BATE, SARAH JEAN peacefully at the Georgetown Hospital on Monday, November 10, 2003; in her 87th year. Jean Bate (nee, McKenzie) of Georgetown & formerly of Orillia is now reunited with her beloved husband, the late Ralph Bate (November 25, 1996). Jean is survived by her two daughters Carolyn, Marilyn and their families. The late Mrs. Jean Bate will rest at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia on Friday morning, November 14th from 10 o'clock until 12 Noon. Then to the Bethel Baptist Church, 300 Coldwater Rd., W., Orillia for Funeral Service Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment :- St. Andrew's - St. James' cemetery , Orillia. Dear father of Paul Beattie and his wife Norma and Bruce Beattie and his wife Elizabeth all of Owen Sound. Lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren, Angela and her husband David Sibbald, Curtis, Andrea and Michelle. Brother of Ariel Patterson of Guelph. Beckett, Elmer C. Peacefully, at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Monday, September 8, 2003. Elmer Beckett of R.R. #2, Kemble in his 96th year. Husband of the late Wilma (nee Edmonstone). Loving father of Bill and his wife Muriel, Stan and his wife June and Lorraine and her husband Jim Rutherford all of Kemble and Dianne and her husband Dave Carlson of Markdale. Sadly missed by ten grandchildren Richard, Rodger, Jo-Anne, Jeff, John, Derek, Kyla, Keri, Steven and Lisa and ten great grandchildren. Predeceased by a sister Dorothy Coture. Elmer was a 4th generation member of the Beckett Family Fiddlers, a 50 year member of North Star Masonic Lodge, a member of the Kemble Church Choir for over 76 years and a member of the Kemble and District Lion’s Club. A long time farmer, Elmer was one of the first farm agents for Co-Operators Insurance. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock with Rev. BIGEC - At her residence, Thursday, October 30, 2003, BRANKA BIGEC, age 45 has gone to be with the Lord. Beloved wife of Marijan Bigec and loving, devoted mother to Nicholas and Daniel, both at home. Branka was a caring and dedicated woman to her family and to all of those around her. Branka put the needs of those surrounding her before her own. She was a hard working woman who built and established a well respected reputation as a chef at Sumac Lodge. She will be missed by all those around her. Branka’s memory will be cherished. She is also survived by her parents Ivan and Katica Ilinic, sister Barbara and her husband Branko, brother Zeljko and his wife Marica, all of Croatia. Several nieces and nephews, also of Croatia are survived. Special “dad” to Sharon Reed (Bob) of Lakewood, Colorado. Beloved step-father of Mark Manchester (Jesse) of Toronto and Christine Wozniak (Peter) of Pefferlaw. Loved grampa of John, Chandra, Barbara and three great-grandchildren. Also “special grandpa” to Kelly, Kim, and John and two great-grands of U. S. A. Loved grandpa to six step-grandchildren Emma, Marie, Lucy, Jack, Janice and Laura. Survived by sister Phyllis Pergolas of Haliburton. Predeceased by sisters Alma, Gladys and Lois. Tom was employed by Imperial Tobacco Ltd. in sales for nearly fifty years. His special talent as a honky tank piano player and volunteer will be missed. Step-father of Deb Kirkland and husband Tom, Bright’s Grove, Warren Reynolds and wife Holly, Pickering, ON. Grandpa and special friend to Katie, Michael, and Annie Kirkland, and Chesley and Joshua Reynolds. Brother of Paula (Al) Bates, Toronto, Patrick (Sondra) Bradley, Ottawa, Dick (Sally) Bradley, Bloomfield Hills, MI. Brother-in-law of Janet (Ian) Hobbs, Midland, ON, Ruth (Barry) Maddigan, Sarnia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Paul (1983) and Goldie (1973), step-mother Dorothy (2000), and a special aunt Grace (2000). Drew was a retired teacher with the Lambton County Board of Education having taught at SCITS and St. Clair for 33 years. He was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Althouse College, past chair for fundraising of the local branch of the Canadian Cancer Society, served on the Parks and Recreation Board and the Committee of Adjustment for the City of Sarnia, was a volunteer for Victim Services and Boy Scouts of Canada. Drew was an active member of the Sarnia Yacht Club for many years and sailing was his first love. He was an active member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club and a local Ham radio operator.
