McCARTHY, Johanna Maria (Annie)
March 16, 1946 - May 10, 2007

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Johanna (Annie) McCarthy, daughter, sister and aunt. Predeceased by her father Vincent McCarthy, she leaves to mourn her mother Maryan, siblings Margaret, Helen (Ken), John (Cindy), and Bill (Debbie) plus many nieces and nephews. Annie has been slowly slipping away from us for the last 8 to 10 years. Annie was an artist. She found beauty in everything, be it nature, music, visual art or people. She expressed her artistic side in the medium of textiles where she created unique designs in clothing and wall art. Her workmanship was flawless. Annie was also a voracious reader and her subjects were varied. One subject which fascinated her was culture. She satisfied that curiosity by traveling widely, through Europe, the Middle East, and many countries in the Far East. But she had a passion for India. She loved the people, the culture, and the cuisine. She spent several years in India overall, much of that time in Goa. Annie's home base was the Beaches area of Toronto's east end where she lived for about 20 years before her health forced her to return to 'frigid Manitoba' 4 _ years ago. She spent the last three years at St Norbert Personal Care Home where she was tended lovingly by the staff. For that they have the heartfelt thanks of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will be held in Pinawa, MB at a later date. A reception in Annie's memory will be held in the Learning Centre at Deer Lodge Centre on Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, on Sunday, May 13, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sobering Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB Toll Free 1-877-776-2220
