BAKER, Sharon Betty

At Deep River and District Hospital on Saturday, December 20, 2008. Sharon Baker age 64 years. Beloved wife of Wayne Baker of R.R.#1, Deep River. Loving mother of Cynthia of Ottawa and Richard Baker and his wife Stacey of Deep River. Cherished grandmother of Alyssa and Riley Baker. Cherished godmother of Makenna Coote. Dear sister of Larry McAuley and his wife Marsha of Windsor, June Semple and her husband Robert, Hilda Hewitt (the late Donald Hewitt) and Neirdre McAuley all of Chalk River, Jill Prest (the late Richard Prest) of Surrey, B.C. and Gail Still of Brampton. Predeceased by three sisters Joyce McMahon, Lavina Law and Grace Tourangeau. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service was conducted in the Chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. In memoriam donations to the Deep River and District Hospital would be gratefully appreciated.

STEWART, Winnie (Clace)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Winnie Stewart (Clace). Winnie died peacefully at the Deep River District Hospital on December 9th, 2008. Winnie leaves behind her loving, caring husband, partner and soul mate Al Stewart. Al and Winnie shared thirty wonderful years together. Their love and kindness toward each other was a rare and special thing. Winnie was born March 28th, 1939 in Sioux Lookout, Ontario where she would spend many years before retiring in Stonecliffe, Ontario. Winnie loved to cook, go fishing, pick blueberries and entertain people with her humour. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Doug and Sherri Clace (Caledon East), daughter Barb Clace (Bolton), brother Bob Clace (Sioux Lookout), sister Lillian Sayers (Sioux Lookout), step-daughter Pat Starratt (Ignace), stepson Glenn Stewart (Sioux Lookout) and seven grandchildren Cody and Kayla Clace, Tyler and Justin Hodgeson, Jenna Hoppe, Ryder and Darby Starratt also two great grandchildren Ava and Sierra Hoppe. A very special thank you to the Medical Staff at the Deep River Hospital, who took care of her with tenderness and compassion during all her stays in hospital and in particular her final journey and to Dr. Tom Greenfield who always had time for a friend. Cremation, a graveside service will be held at a later date. If friends so desire a donation may be made to the Deep River Hospital Foundation through the Valley Funeral Home. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

MCDONNELL, Dr. Francis Roland Nicholas
P. Eng, M.A.Sc Phd

On Tuesday, December 9, 2008 age 68. Son of the late Mervin and Rita McDonnell. Survived by his wife Margaret, his three children Russell ( Ulya Jensen ), Angela ( Brad Koskie ), and Erin (Geoff Postle) and grandchildren Jack, Sydney and Jessica. Born in Ottawa, Frank attended Royal Military College (class of '63). He spent four years in the RCAF during which time he met his beloved wife while on a posting in Churchill, Manitoba. He then received his doctorate in engineering from the University of Manchester. Frank spent 26 years with Atomic Energy of Canada in Deep River, Pinawa and Ottawa in various senior management roles. During this time he formed many wonderful friendships that endured over the years. Frank was an avid and gifted athlete. He played varsity football and basketball at RMC and was heavily involved in coaching his children's activities over the years. Running was one of his favourite activities and he participated in dozens of races in the Ottawa area over the years. During his retirement, he worked as a career counsellor, an activity he found both satisfying and rewarding. He was often called upon by friends and colleagues for his trusted guidance and advice. A loving husband and caring father who will be sadly missed. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, Ottawa. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Ottawa on Saturday, December 13, 2008. KELLY-LIMA, Tya

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Tya Kelly-Lima of Petawawa, Ontario, formerly of Deep River, on Wednesday November 26, 2008. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Herberto Lima, step-daughter, Kassandra, her parents, Doris and Clement Kelly of Deep River, mother in-law, Val Lima, Portugal and father in law, Jose Lima, British Columbia, dear brothers Jamie Kelly (Kate) of Barrie, Ontario and Bradley Traverse of Manganese Mines, Nova Scotia, brothers in law, Paul (Janina), Jeorge (Xenia), Chris (Robin) of Ottawa, Ontario. Tya was loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She will be greatly missed and always remembered by those she touched.

Suddenly at Deep River on Thursday, December 4, 2008, Patrick Kelly age 84 years. Beloved husband of the late Janet Crozier Kelly (nee Graham). Dear brother of Dorothy Brown of Calgary, Alberta, Frances Wald of Carstairs, Alberta, and Yvonne Campbell of Penticton, B.C. Predeceased by two sisters Grace Harris and Gladys Lyslo and three brother Clifford, Roy and Art Smith. Friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be conducted in the Deep River Community Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment of cremated remains will be in the Deep River Community cemetery. MIRAULT, Gertrude Alice

Suddenly at Deep River on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Gertrude Mirault age 72 years. Beloved wife of the late Wilbert Mirault. Loving mother of Deborah (Debbie) Seigel and her husband Peter of Pembroke and Ross Mirault and his wife Kim of Chalk River. Cherished grandmother of Christopher and Joel Seigel and Scott and Becky Mirault. Loving sister of Carmel Green (the late Emis Green) of Deep River, Teresa Lance and her husband Irving of Deep River, Marjorie Racine and her husband Marcel of Rapides des Joachims and Diane Stewart (the late Bill Stewart) of Deep River. Friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Chalk River on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Followed by cremation. Interment of cremated remains will be in St. Anthony Parish cemetery , Chalk River. WATSON, Margaret Elizabeth (nee Hall)
1924 – 2009

It is with great sadness that following an extended period of failing health Margaret Elizabeth Watson (nee Hall) passed away in the evening of Monday June 1st 2009 at Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke, Ontario at the age of 84 years. Margaret, Marg as she was known to everyone, was born in Calgary, Alberta on 19th of July 1924. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Vern who passed away in 1999. Marg spent much of her adult life bringing up her 4 sons in Deep River, Ontario before moving to Pembroke with Vern after he retired from Atomic Energy of Canada. She was very saddened by the loss of her youngest son, Ken and his wife, Mary, who were both killed in a tragic, single engine plane accident just 12 months ago on the 24th of May 2008. Margaret is survived by Tom, Wanda and grandchildren Matthew, Christine and Benjamin in New Zealand; Rick, Fran and granddaughters Julie and Carrie in Ottawa, Ontario and Whistler, BC; and Don, Katharine and granddaughter Heather in Nanaimo, BC. She also leaves 4 lovely great-grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes, Margaret will be cremated. Her ashes will be placed to rest with Vern, Ken and Mary in a private ceremony. The family would like to extend their very sincere appreciation and thanks to all the staff at Miramichi Lodge, in particular the wonderful supportive staff on 2A. At the Deep River and District Hospital on Monday, May 25, 2009. Terry Roach age 69 years. Dear brother of Michael Roach and his wife Nancy of Dauphin, Manitoba and David Roach and his wife Elaine of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also survived by a sister-in-law Theresa Roach of Deep River. COUETTE, Ann Mae

At the Deep River and District Hospital on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Ann Couette age 71 years. Beloved wife of Elphege Couette of Deep River and by first marriage the late Sid Walton. Loving mother of Kirk Walton of Ottawa, Randy Walton of Newmarket, Carey Walton of Eganville and Tracey Walton of Oshawa. Dear step-mother of Darlene Couette of Trenton, Lorraine Scanerhorn of Dewhite, Lawrence and Raymond Couette both of Lindsay. Cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter Kelly Walton, three brothers Morris, Douglas and Cecil Graham and a sister Abourn Taylor. Dear mother of Michael Primeau and his wife the late Diane of Port Elgin, Patrick Primeau and his wife Mona of Deep River and Danny Primeau and his wife Valarie of Cobourg. Loving grandmother of Chantel, Megan, Blayne, LeeAnne, Brian, Jodie and Katherine and one great-grandchild Parker. Dear step-mother of Kevin, Brian, Susan and Jim Mercer. Dear sister of Leona McMahon and her husband Alex Perry, Beverly Levasseur and her husband Bill, Marie Kelly and her husband Brad, George Pichette and Keith Pichette and his wife Sandra all of Deep River and Ira Pichette and his wife Gloria of Bissetts Creek. Predeceased by a sister Carole Boudreau and her late husband Gerry. Loving mother of Jane (Mrs. Mario Latourneau) of Stoney Creek, Bruce Charbonneau and his wife Sue of Williams Lake, B.C., and Denise (Mrs. Mike Vanderwolf) of Burnaby, B.C. Cherished grandmother of five grandchildren Andre, James, Adam, Lisa and Cor, and four great-grandchildren Dayna, James Jr. Jacob and Zackery. Also survived by a brother Dalton Burton of Kelowna, B.C. Predeceased by a brother Vincent Burton. By request there will be no visitation. Cremation. BEAR, Jean Anne
(1935 - 2009)

On Friday, May 8, 2009 Jean passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, with her family by her side. Jean is survived by her loving husband Norman, children Chris, Greg and Cam, Loretta and grandchildren Zachary, Natasha and Reilly. A private service was held on May 12. Jean's many friends are invited to a celebration of her life that will take place on Sunday, June 14th at 1pm at the Moose Lodge in Oshawa. Jean's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Lakeridge Health Oshawa's Critical Care Unit for their dedicated care and compassion during Jean's final days.
