It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Narciso Cardenas Jr on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the age of 79, surrounded by his family, after persevering through a courageous battle with cancer. passed away peacefully at home in Orleans at the age of 75, on February 29, 2012, in the tender care of his family. Devoted husband to Hélène (Dugal), loving father to Gilbert (Susan McKiel), Carole (Bill Rascoe) and Pierre (Ana Reis). Brother to Paulette and Robert (Claudette Godin) and predeceased by parents Charles Eugène and Berthe (Rochon), brothers Gérald (Pauline Denault), Richard (Carole Larocque) and Raymond. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Crystal, Kevin, Amy, Christopher, Dene, Pierre, Michael and Ann-Marie and great grand-daughter Odesa. Jean-Claude proudly served in the air force and retired from Loeb after 29 yrs of service. He was happiest at the cottage at Lac Schryer where he enjoyed collecting various items, playing golf, poker on Monday afternoon, bowling and the company of good friends on any day. He was a friend to all that met him, strong and reliable to all that knew him. He leaves us with an abundance of love and memories. Katalin Sheskay (née Pinter) passed away suddenly Thursday at the age of 61. She was the spouse of Glen Sheskay, mother to Glenn (Heather) and proud grandmother of Evan and Brendan. She was predeceased by her father, Steve Pinter. She is survived by her mother, Katalin Duda, her sister, Susan Willis (Gregg), her brother, Steve Pinter, and her nieces: Sara (Bill), Ashley (Lee), Kayla and Amanda (Joe). Katalin was well known as a community leader, advocate and fundraiser. She has been an Ottawa Catholic School Board Trustee since 2006. She has worked with many charity and volunteer groups including Habitat for Humanity, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, the Beechwood cemetery Foundation and the Waupoos Foundation. She was recognized for her community involvement many times including being awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002, the United Way Community Builder Award in 2005 and the Women of Distinction Award from the YMCA/YWCA in 2006. She touched many lives and will be missed. Visitation will take place in the Sacred Space of the Beechwood cemetery National Memorial Centre 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Thursday May 24th from 1:00 p.m. until the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Borden and Fleming suites. passed away the morning of the 15th of May at her home and place of business in Orleans, Ontario, after a valiant battle with Jejunum Cancer. She was an owner and operator of Steadys Catering. Lynn was a creative and accomplished chef of healthy food. She was a good-humoured, fun, loving, caring, dedicated person, who put others first. The Wish Foundation, Shepherds of Good Hope and many other charities benefited from her food donations. Predeceased by her loving widwo Rejean. It is with sadness that the family of Richard Vernon Whiteley announces his passing at home in Ottawa on April 26, 2012, at age 96. Born in England in 1915, Dick moved to Canada as a child, spending his youth in Toronto, Guelph, and in the north where he helped build Highway 60 through Algonquin Park. He was a veteran of WWII, a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Seaforth Br. 156. He eventually settled with his family in Seaforth. He was a science teacher, spending some time in the West Indies, and finished his career as Vice-Principal of Clinton District High School in 1978. He loved to fish and spent many winters in Florida. He is predeceased by his wife, Margeurite (Johnson) (1995), his parents Frederick Whiteley (1918) and Effie Gott (Bennett) (1968), and one brother Alec (WWII ). He is lovingly remembered by his children, Rick & Carol Whiteley of Haliburton; Jack & Roxanne Whiteley of Ottawa; Pat Whiteley of Sudbury; and Kathy & Ted Scott of Waterloo. He took great pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sean Whiteley & Leslie Stedlbauer, and Olivia; Erin Blanchard, Hunter and Castin; Jessica & Alex Morsink, and Callia; Jenna Whiteley & Nick Latreille; Annie Lafrance; Jill & Matthew Snyder, Leah, Janae and Esther; Carly Scott & Chris Palmer.
