Barry Douglas Gaudette
RCMP Retired, Civilian Member Born April 2, 1947 in Edmonton, Alberta, Barry died October 1, 2003 in the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus surrounded by family and friends after a brief, yet valiant, struggle with multiple myeloma. Predeceased by his mother Orvie, father Douglas, and father-in-law Jim Clark. He is survived by his beloved wife Leslie Ann (nee Clark) and his two children, Darrell Lorne and Lisa Marie. Loving brother to Allan (Gloria), Montreal; Neil (Merrilyn) and Dawn, Edmonton; Shelley (Glen), Nanaimo and Douglas, Guelph. Also loved by his mother-in-law Mary Clark; sister-in-law Mary-Jane Garnett (Jim), Surrey, B.C. and brothers-in-law, Jim (Shirley) and Norman (Gwen), Langley, B.C. Beloved nieces and nephews include Taryn, Jaden, Brynne, Ariel, Nathaniel, Sarah, Robin, Willow, Gaelan, Maxwell, Leanna, Tracey, Tara, Melissa, Sandra, Teresa, Angela, John and Shyan. Barry served 33 years as a Forensic Scientist with the RCMP, most recently as Manager of the Canadian Police Research Centre, a collaboration of the National Research Council, RCMP and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. An internationally recognized expert in hair and fibre analysis, he published innovative research articles on forensic hair comparison, chaired international expert committees and appeared as an expert witness in courts in both Canada and the United States. Envisioning the potential of DNA analysis in forensic science, he managed the implementation of DNA technology in RCMP labs across Canada and contributed to the 1997 National DNA Databank legislation. A member of the Canadian, American and U.K. Forensic Science Societies, he also served on the U.S./ Canada Bilateral Counter-Terrorism Research and Development Committee, 1999-2002. His contributions were recognized in 1996 with the government of Canada Public Service Award of Excellence and in 2003 with the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal for his work in hair comparison, implementation of the National DNA Databank, and international standardization of forensic methodologies. Barry loved God's world and could often be found walking, cycling or cross-country skiing on the many miles of recreational trails around Ottawa. An active community leader, he volunteered his time on activities including Cub leader, soccer coach and Chair of the Colonel By High School Parents Association. He enjoyed theatre and activities of the National Capital Voyageurs Walking Club and the Ottawa Sommelier Guild. His final speaking engagement was at the Bloody Words Conference of the Crime Writers Association held in Ottawa, June 14, 2003. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Barry's life will be held at the Church of the Epiphany, 1290 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa on Wednesday, October 8th at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. A private interment will be held at Beechwood cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Trans-Canada Trail Association.

Stephen David Gibson - 09/29/2003

The Gibson family sorrowfully announces the tragic death of Stephen Gibson, on Friday, September 26, 2003, aged 29 years. Beloved son of Paul and Jane Gibson; brother of Andrew; grandson of Rita and fiance of Lise Dionne. We will miss your generous and playful spirit. Friends may visit at the All Saints Anglican Church, 317 Chapel Street at Laurier Avenue, on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Eucharistic celebration will be held at the All Saints Anglican Church on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 11 a.m. A reception in the church hall will immediately follow the service. Donations may be made to the Peace and Environment Resource Centre, 174 First Avenue, Ottawa K2S 2G3 would be appreciated.

Elinor Nell Gluck - 09/30/2003

Peacefully at Central Park Lodge on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Elliott Gluck. Loving mother of Sherril (Dr. Philip Horwich) and Julia (Ted Overton). Cherished Bubbie of Daniel, Matthew and Jess. Survived by her brother Toby (Freda) Appel and her dear sister-in-law Mollie (the late Moe) Appel and brother-in-law Manny (Cheryle) Gluke. Auntie Nellie will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service to be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue on Wednesday, October 1st, 2003 at 2 p.m. Interment Jewish Community cemetery , Bank Street, Ottawa. Paul Goyette - 09/25/2003

(Member of Knights of Columbus Council #9519 St. Laurent) On September 24, 2003 Paul Goyette passed away at the age of 73 years. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Fleurette (née Laniel); five children, Lucie (Maurice), Normand (Debbie), Marcel (Joan), Denis (Gisèle) and Lise (Denis). Special grandfather to Céline (Larry), Eric (Trinda), Angèle, Michelle (Ron), Jamie, Denis, Daniel, Isabelle and Jessica. Cherished brother of Valine (the late Gérald), Roger (Denise), Valade (Late Aldonat), Lucille (Bernard), Lucien (Claire), Fleurette (André), Philippe (Pierrette), Annette (René), Rita, André, Jacques (Joanne) and predeceased by Adrien, Pauline and Anna. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Friday, September 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, September 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the St. Laurent Church, 8th Line Road, Carlsbad Springs at 11 a.m. For over 25 years, Paul was the devoted volunteer caretaker of the St. Laurent Church, making it his second home. In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Laurent Parish would be appreciated in order to continue his long life work.

Claire Gray (nee Boudreault) - 10/02/2003

"Gone to be with her Lord", peacefully in hospital after a year's struggle with cancer on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 aged 67. Beloved wife and best friend of Earl. Devoted mother of Linda Vien (Gerry), Debbie, Douglas (Sue), John (Gloria), Mark (Evelyn) and Laurie Inglis (Bill). Loving grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 1. Dear sister of Bob, Art, Ronald, Raymond, Carolyn and Connie. Claire will be sadly missed by many dear relatives and friends. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Thursday, October 2, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm and Friday from 10am until 12noon. Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 1pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1078 Klondike Road, Kanata. Reception to follow prior to the interment at Pinecrest cemetery. Edith Henderson - 09/24/2003

Edith passed away on the morning of Wednesday, September 24, 2003. She was the dearly beloved wife and best friend of Frank Henderson. They were married 53 years. She leaves to mourn her passing, their son John (Barbara), daughter Laura (Peter) Earnshaw, daughter Jean Swan and son-in-law Warren Morrison. Predeceased by daughter Joan Morrison and son-in-law Sheldon Swan. She will be fondly remembered by their four grandchildren Sarah and Jeffrey, Andrew and Catherine. A Memorial Service will be held at Emmanuel United Church, 681 Smyth Rd., on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 10 a.m. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are in the care of the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.

Loving father of Brian (Cindy), David (Jill), John (Marie), Robert, (Elaine) and Stephen (Pamela). Cherished Poppie of 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of William of Montreal and special friend of Helen and Kenneth Anderson. Will be sadly missed by his longtime neighbours in Manordale, the Montreal gang, the congregation at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, friends at Barrhaven Manor and the Telephone Pioneers. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroofe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Sunday, September 28, 2003, from 1 to 3 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. a Memorial Service will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 174 First Avenue (at Bank Street), on Tuesday, September 30 at 11 a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Giles Presbyterian Church. Special thanks to the incredible staff at the Barrhaven Manor for their loving care and compassion.

Dillon Martin Holmes - 09/26/2003

Peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at the Almonte General Hospital after a brief illness in his 70th year. Dear son of the late Patrick and Edna Holmes formerly of Cantley, Que. Survived by brothers Edward (Marion) of Ottawa, Arnold of Vancouver, Ambrose (Judy) of Arnprior and predeceased by 6 brothers Erin, Bernard, Emmanuel, Lawrence, Fredrick and Sylvanus. Dillon will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata (South of the Hazeldean Mall) Monday, September 29, 2003 at 11 a.m., followed by cremation. Interment of urn in the family plot, St Elizabeth Parish cemetery , Cantley, Que. at a later date.

Jeanette (nee Labelle) Huneault - 09/30/2003

Peacefully in hospital on Sunday, September 28, 2003, at the age of 59. Dearly beloved wife of Gérald Huneault. Loving daughter of the late Cécile Brazeau and the late Wilfrid Labelle. Dear sister of Florient "Rockey" Labelle (Laurette), Gérald "Bill" Labelle (Claudette), Marcel Labelle (Diane) her twin Jeannine Paquette (Claude), Louise Dumouchel (Paul-Emile "Pitou") and Raymond Labelle (Joanne). Predeceased by her 3 brothers Guy (Cathy), Ovilla "Roy" (Claire) and Rhéal (Laurette). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Notre-Dame de Lourdes (Cyrville), 1187 Michael Street, Ottawa on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment Notre-Dame cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre Foundation, 503 Smyth Road, Ottawa, K1H 9Z9 would be appreciated.
