RCN (CD Ret'd) In his 82nd year on Friday, January 30, 2004 at Carlingview Manor. Predeceased by his dear wife Anne. He is survived by his three children Tony, Banff AB, Nicole, Vancouver BC, and Denise Brooks (Dave), Ottawa ON. and five grandchildren Jason, Janine, Andrew, Jeremy and Jennifer. Bill was a career Navy man, faithfully serving the RCN for twenty-five years. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve in July 1942 and was assigned to Sick Bay as Probation Orderly. He attended the rank of Sick Bay Attendant in March 1943, a position he held until the end of the war. He then re-mustered to The Royal Canadian Navy in 1946 and was promoted to Leading Seaman - Medical Assistant 2. Bill was promoted to Petty Officer 2nd Class M.A.2 in July 1948, and advanced to P2 M.A.3 in October 1953 and P2 M.A.4 in October 1955. He was promoted to Petty Officer 1st Class M.A.4 in March 1957 and retired from the Navy in December 1968 at the rank of Warrant Officer. Upon leaving the Canadian Forces Bill was employed by Carleton University where he worked for 20 years as a Security Guard and retired in 1992. Those wishing to share their memories of Bill are invited to attend a Celebration of Bill's Life and a reception at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave., on Monday, February 2, 2004 from 2 - 4 p.m. Bill's children would like to offer a special thanks to the dedicated staff on the 7th floor at Carlingview Manor. In keeping with naval traditions, the family request that all navy personnel (past & present) "Raise a Rum" in honour of Bill Chatham. In memoriam donations to The Alzheimer Society. On Thursday, January 22, 2004 in her 48th year our beloved Cathy, Bluebird Woman was called to the spirit world. She was the beloved mother of Justin Compton and very proud grandmother of Nicolas and Kiana Fontaine and their mother Deena. She was cherished by many friends and family. She will be greatly missed by her brothers Jim Compton and Francois Arsenault, sisters Irene Compton and Josephine Morrisseau, Justin's father Louis Bonham, niece and family Janine, Tyler, Doreen, Ocean Compton and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from Keeseekoose Reserve, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island. To welcome her to the spirit world is her mom and dad Jim and Alice Compton, sisters Doreen Compton and MaryAnn Morrisseau and brother Gordon Wasteste. A Celebration of Cathy's life will take place at the Odawa Native Friendship Centre, 12 Stirling Avenue, Ottawa, on February 7, 2004 at 12noon. All friends and community members are welcome.
