Chelsea & Cole Rodgers - 02/02/2004

Tragically on Friday, January 30, 2004, Chelsea Rodgers age 10, and Cole Rodgers, age 7. Beloved angels of Cynthia Rodgers. Cherished grandchildren of Doreen Crowe and Frank Rodgers. Loving niece and nephew of Paul Rodgers and Jennifer Moore (Warren), Chelsea and Cole will be sadly missed by uncles Rob, Glen and Rick, cousins Jessie, Ricky and aunt Monica and Kim John (Steve). A Memorial Service will be held at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 10:00am. Reception to follow at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road. In lieu of flowers donations to CHEO would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Sadly on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Fred. Loving mother of Lisa, Francine, Rosalind (Marvin) and David. Cherished Bubby Nell of Robert and Elliott, Julia (Shael) and Jordana. Dear sister of Syd (Ethel), Moe (Lorraine) and Eddie (Judi). Predeceased by sisters, Rachel, Sara and Charlotte. Will be sadly missed by all. A Graveside Service will be held at the Jewish Community cemetery , Bank Street, Ottawa on Monday, February 2, 2004 at 2 p.m. Shiva to be observed at 1880 Highland Terrace. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.

Peacefully passed away February 4, 2004. Mom died at home surrounded by her loving family, who meant everything to her. Her journey on earth began in Dinnington, England in 1925. She came to Canada at the end of WWII as the bride of her ex-husband Jack Service (deceased 2000). She will be forever loved by their 5 children: Valerie Ethier (Steve), Marylyn Service-Peters (Bob), Robert Service (Kathy), Jane Mowbray (Cochrane), Mike Service (Pat). She will also be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren: Dwayne, Chantal, Dawn, Rachelle, Jenny, Jordon, Brian, Christopher, Blake, Caitlin and 5 great-grandchildren: Nicole, Katrina, Lucas, Tucker and Riley. Mom also leaves behind her in-laws Bill and Betty Service, Hal Service and their children. Her family warmly thanks Dr. V. Hurdon and L.P.N. Ann Hunter, for their support in helping Mom to continue to live in the comfort of her home. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Saturday, February 7 from 11am until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1pm. " Children and mothers never truly part, Forever bound by memories in our hearts."

Peacefully, to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 29, 2004, in North Bay, Ontario, at the age of 83 years. Beloved son, of the late Benjamin and Margaret "Maggie" (Presley) Smith of Shawville, Quebec. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (nee Hudson). Loving brother of Dorothy (Deeks) of Ottawa, Margaret C. Smith of Shawville, and the late Jean (Gallaher) of Winchester. Brother-in-law of Joan and Harold Halpenny of Smiths Falls. Beloved uncle to nieces Phyllis Deeks of Ottawa, Carol Jackson of Ottawa, Elaine Paradise of California, Maureen Halpenny of Portland, Ontario, Eunice-Jean Theil (Ron) of Milton, Ontario and nephew Gregory Halpenny (Heather) of Whitby, Ontario and many great-nieces and nephews. As a member of the Wesleyan Church since 1933, Walter felt called to the ministry and was ordained. Since 1951 he served as a minister with the Wesleyan Church in Waltham, Quebec, Newington, Madoc and North Bay, Ontario. After his retirement he continued his service to the Lord as Chaplain to Leisure World and Treasurer to the Wesleyan Church in North Bay and Secretary for the Central Canada District of the Wesleyan Church. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, Saturday January 31, 2004 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday, February 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, February 2 at 11 a.m. Interment at Maple Grove cemetery , Shawville, Quebec at 3 p.m. Many thanks to Dr. Terry Rotondo and the staff of the North Bay General Hospital.

Ret'd E.D.C. Suddenly at home on Friday, January 23, 2004, in his 81st year. Predeceased by sister Jocelyne Strang. Dear brother of Barry (Joan) and Margot (Ron Cairns). Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. John will be deeply missed by neighbours of Ramsgate Private, friends Rolly Gallant and Cliff Poulin, travelling pals Lenora Hill and Viola Riseborough. John was a loving friend to Viola Riseborough's children. Will be sadly missed by "Shelley the Springer". A gathering will be held at the Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Reception Centre, 328 McLeod Street, on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, from noon to 2pm. For those wishing, donations may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Dear son of Helen (nee Bailie) and the late Andrew Tommy Sr. Much loved husband of Heather (nee Gibson) and proud father of Alexandre. Dear brother of Andrew and the late Arthur Tommy. A skier of note, Fred represented Canada as a member of the National Ski Team and the 1960 Olympic Team. A graduate of Ottawa and McGill Universities, Fred will be dearly missed by his family, friends and the many members of the Tommy & Lefebvre team where his leadership, trust and dedication to excellence for over 17 years will be sorely missed. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Friday, February 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, February 7 at 11a.m. In his memory, flowers or donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

On February 4, 2004 at the age of 53, somewhat unexpectedly but peacefully, with her dear sister Wuanita by her side as always. Sandra, aka Sandy...Sarah...Bib...will be fondly remembered as a miracle person (an angel) for fighting all odds. Her personality, her strength, her sense of humor and her preservation of all life (including Mr. Mouse) remains with us forever. Sandra is predeceased by her parents Leona (nee Campbell) and Dr. Wilson Wallingford. She is survived by her uncle Lyal Campbell of Plantagenet, Ira Campbell of Owen Sound and her cherished sister Wuanita Wallingford. Remembered so fondly by friends and cousins Dale Wallingford and Joy (Heidi and Carly), Rhoda, Taffy, Kati, Lois, Larry, Francesca, Judy, Sylvie, Gerry, Diane, Del, Graham and Helen, Terry and Claire, ... Her kin...Seguin's, Wallingford's, McManus', Campbell's and James'. Thanks to all the many health professionals who Sandra encountered in her life, most recently Dr. Chan, Dr. McLeod, Dr. Hodder, Dr. Hooper, Dr. Patel, Dr. Amy Rodgers, the amazing nursing staff of the ICU Civic Campus and in particular Sharon who absolutely understands the dignity of life and death. To all those who are unmentioned thank you. Go! Sens! Go! Friends may gather to share memories at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Saturday, February 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. A Memorial Committal will take place in the spring at Capital Memorial Gardens. Suddenly in hospital on Thursday, January 29, 2004 in her 57th year. Dearly beloved wife of Ray Whitford. Dear sister of David King. Predeceased by her parents Cecil King and Dorothy Radley. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Sunday, February 1, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, February 2 at 11 a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to your favorite charity would be appreciated.

On Friday, January 30, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by his wife Gladys, brother Robert and sister Evelyn. Survived by his brother William J. Winter (Muriel E.) and numerous nieces and nephews. A long time employee of Metropolitan Life, Norman was a WWII Veteran and a member of the Woodlawn Legion Branch #616. A Private family service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry. Cremation with spring interment in Beechwood cemetery. For those wishing, donations made to the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre (Rideau 2 South), 1750 Russell Road, Ottawa K1G 9Z9 would be appreciated.
