It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bert on December 9, 2006 after a short intense battle with cancer. He leaves to join his beloved son Stephen who left us on August 5, 2003. Left behind to mourn and greatly miss him is his loved wife Lois (Cassidy), his very special daughter Sandra (Dean Cullen) and his dear mom-in-law Phyllis Cassidy. He was a very proud Grampa to Jordon and Haley Tippens and Ryan and Megan Cullen. Also missing him for lap comfort is Scamp and “his” Molly. Bert was the son of the late Mark and Marie Tippins and is survived by his brother Frank (Marge). We want to say a sincere thank you to Dr. Therese Hodgson and to all the staff at the Hospice at May Court for their guidance, tender and compassionate care to Bert, Sandra and I through this very difficult journey. At Bert’s request, family and friends will gather on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. for a service at 11:30 a.m. in the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway). In lieu of flowers (also at Bert’s request) donations can be made to the Hospice at May Court. A private interment of Bert and Stephen will take place at Beechwood.

Predeceased by his two daughters, Julia Stevens Walsh Kelly and Diana Lockwood. Survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service to be announced at a later date.

Melville H. Weatherall has laid down his tools one final time. Born in Ottawa in 1917, he passed away on December 4, 2006 after a short illness. He lived in Ottawa his whole life. His wife Mary (nee Tripp) passed away in 1991. He leaves a daughter Linda and son Allan (Gillian) and grandchildren Aynsley and Graham. He was predeceased by siblings Harold, Harry, Lillian Stocker and Jean Sproule. He worked in many positions primarily with the Federal Government and Algonquin College, where his refrigeration, heating, mechanical, and numerous other skills were utilized. During WW11 his expertise was used to build aircraft engines. After retirement, he helped many people with ‘fix it’ projects. He was especially proud that he was ‘Santa’ at Bayshore and Carlingwood Malls for many years. Thank you to Dr. David Tobin, Greenboro Family Medical Centre and the Hospice at May Court. Visitation will be at Ottawa Citadel 1350 Walkley Road on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 9:30 AM with a Memorial service at 11:00 and fellowship to follow. passed away peacefully at the age of 75 at the Monfort Hospital on Friday, March 30, 2007. Beloved husband of 49 years to Pinky (Provost). Loving father to Julie (Tony Di Nuzzo) and “his son Bill Addy”. The best caring and doting grandfather to Bill’s children, Corinne (Chris), Roxanne (Mark), Sean (Sabrina), Chelsey, Keith as wellas to Julie and Tony’s children, Derek (Mélanie), Jason (Gina) and Ashlie. Predeceased by his sisters Bev James and Patricia Mitchell. He leaves behind his sister Barbara Richardson and many nieces and nephews who thought the world of their uncle. Orm was a member of the Ottawa Craftsman Club, the Graphic Arts Curling Team for over 40 years and more recently the St. Laurent Walking Club. He will be missed by all the parishioners at St. Ignatius Parish where he was a devoted member. He was the greatest fan of the Greater Ottawa Kingfish Swim Club where Ashlie swims. He was always seen with a highlighter in his hand at every swim meet, keeping track of all the times for the AGII Girls” who knew him as Poppa.There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 518 Donald Street, Ottawa on Wednesday, April 4th, 2007 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
