Peacefully at Community Hospital, O’Leary, December 1, 2008 of Lloyd Thayer Ramsay of O’Leary aged 75, beloved husband of Irene Ramsay.
Lloyd was a Member of Session of the O’Leary United Church for 25 years and a leader with Scouts Canada for 25 years.
He was born in Conway on August 3, 1933; son of Erland and Evelyn (Ellis) Ramsay.
Cherished father of Garth, Halifax; Scott (Tangee), Oxford Conn.; and Kenneth (Joanne), Lower Sackville, NS. Loving grandfather to Samantha, Dylan, and Carley.
Brother of Roy (Jean), Traveller's Rest; Ruth (Ian) Vincent, Dartmouth NS; and Ross (Eileen), Smith Falls ON. Brother in law of Elizabeth (Claire) Hogg, Summerside; Laura (James) Paynter, Summerside; John Arthur (Ann) Ramsay, Poplar Grove; Marilyn Ramsay (John Pineau), Poplar Grove.
Predeceased by brother in law Herman Ramsay.

At Prince County Hospital, Summerside, December 3, 2008 of Garfield Robert Ellis of O’Leary, aged 77, husband of the late Irene Mary (nee McCarthy) Ellis. Born September 2, 1931 in O’Leary, son of the late Robert and Edna (Waite) Ellis.

Loving grandfather of twenty-one grandchildren and six great

Suddenly at Western Hospital, Alberton on Thursday, February 26, 2009 of Michael Joseph Pine of Mount Royal, formerly of Outer Cove, Newfoundland; aged 52. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on November 19, 1956; son of the late Harold S and Gertrude M. (Corcoran) Pine.
Beloved brother of Jimmy (Faye), Kingston ON; Marion (Robert) Ellis, Mount Royal; Harold (Karen), Mount Royal; and Helen (Howard) Arsenault, Duvar. Cherished, special uncle to Stacey Arsenault, Samantha Arsenault, Brittany Pine, Spencer Ellis, and beloved great uncle to Brant and Brookelynn Hudson, and Landan Arsenault. Nephew and cousin of Uncles Tom Corcoran, Jim Corcoran, and Aunts Kay Achong, Cecilia Bowen, and Jeanette Corcoran and families, all of St Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland.

Peacefully, at the Palliative Care Unit of The Community Hospital, O’Leary, on Thursday, March 19, 2009 of Elizabeth MacDonald, of Milo, aged 64 years, wife of the late Stanley K MacDonald. Born in Elmsdale on July 30, 1944, daughter of the late Emerson and Hazel (MacAusland) Hardy.
Loving mother of Beverley Wells (John Dennis), Cornwall; James (Joanne), Milo; Doreen (Jim) MacLean, Lethbridge AB; David (Carla), Milo; and Heather, Milo. Cherished grandmother of Andrew, Erin, Ryan, Nicole, Colton, and Brayden. Adoring great grandmother of Samantha.

Peacefully with her family by her side at the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O’Leary on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 of Vera Gladys Pearle Robinson of West Devon aged 87, wife of the late William Robinson.
Born in Glengarry on June 21, 1921, daughter of the late Percy and Pearl (Collicutt) Baglole.
Cherished mother of Pearl (Horace) MacNevin, West Devon; Claude (Gaylene), Conway; Donald (Betty) Coleman; Ruby Barry, Edm, AB; Emma Robinson, West Devon; Wilma (Ewen) Stetson, Unionvale. Loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Sister of Emma (Ed) Spenchuk, Windsor, ON; Jessie (Les) Hardy, Alberton; Archie (Judy) Dunbar, Montrose. The Honourable Dr. ORVILLE HOWARD, DDS.
Peacefully at Ottawa, Ontario on April 24, 2009 in his 86th year and with his family at his side.
Born in O’Leary, Prince Edward Island, the son of the late J.S. and Maude (MacArthur) Phillips. Orville joined the RCAF during WWII and served with the 426 Thunderbird Squadron. Upon his return he married Marguerite (nee Woodside) in 1945.
Orville graduated from Prince of Wales College and then Dalhousie University in 1952 with his dental degree. He won the prize for children’s dentistry at his graduation. He practiced dentistry in Alberton, PEI, Summerside, PEI and Ottawa, ON. Orville was first elected to the House of Commons in 1957 and was re-elected in 1958 and 1962 and served until 1963. In 1963, he was called to The Senate of Canada where he served until retirement in 1999.
Loving father of Brian (Bonnie) of Calgary, AB, Betty Phillips-Simpson (John) of Grande Prairie, AB, Robert (Wendy) of Oakville, ON, Patricia Ryan (Gerald) of Ottawa, ON. Loving grandfather to Michael & David Phillips, Andrew, Stewart & Derek Simpson, Christian and Sarah Phillips, Nicholas and Sean Ryan. Brother to Ray (Gertrude) Phillips of Sussex, NB.
His dearly beloved wife, Marguerite, predeceased him in 2004. He was also predeceased by brothers, Vernon, Ernest, Wyman, Brenton, Erland and Sanford and sisters, Lillian, Ivy and Flora. Survived by sisters in law Pansy Phillips, Thelma Phillips, Doris Phillips, Anne Phillips and Marian Darrach.
Friends are invited to visit at Ferguson’s Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary, on Thursday April 30th from 2-4 and 7-9.
The Funeral Service will be held at the O’Leary United Church, Friday May 1 at 11 a.m.
Interment in Knutsford Cemetery, O’Leary, PEI.
