Anton (Abie) Back

1927 – 2014. Suddenly, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Beloved husband of Edith for sixty years. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Rebecca and Sami Malka of Israel, Tobe Back and Allan Pickel of Calgary, Marlene and Ken Ladouceur of Colorado. Cherished Zaidie of Aviva Malka of Toronto, Ettie and Tzachi Itzhaik of Israel, Zara and Zoe Pickel of Calgary, Anne and Greg Kruse of Colorado, Sarah and Andrew Govert of Texas. A very proud great-grandfather of Orly Pnina Kinneret, Chai David, Osher Lishai, Hodaya, Anton, Sophie, and Oliver. Predeceased by his beloved siblings, twin brother Izidor (Srulie), Morris, Carl, Regina (Risa) Yeger, Sidie Heksh, and Pnina Back. Dear brother-in-law of Sandy Back, Willie Yeger, Toby Back,Sheila and Gary O'Brien, Allan and Beverly Moses,the late Simcha Heksh. Anton was a survivor of the Holocaust and a true hero who served in the Israeli Defense Force in 1948. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, family, and all those whose lives he touched. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, March 16 at 9:00 a.m. Burial at the Kibbutz Givat Haim Cemetery, Israel. Shiva will be observed in Israel. Dr. Morton Lang

LANG, Dr. Morton. Peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 8, 2014 in his ninety-second year. Beloved husband of Fidelia for sixty-two years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Sheldon and Elaine, Geoffrey and Laetitia, Jonathan and Jane. Cherished “Pata” of Robbie and Candice, Paul and Dahlia, Ann and fiancé Brian, Jeremy, Maya, Michael, and Matthew. Great-grandfather of Aiden, Avery, Jacob, and Zachary. Morton will be sadly missed by his many colleagues and by all who knew and loved him. Special thanks to Dr. Hyman Reisler for his continuous care and concern. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Norman and Myra (Aizer), Hyman, Elliot and Karla (Graham). Cherished grandmother of Deandra, and Eden; Paige, and Harrison. Daughter of the late Donya and the late Sarah Klians. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Lil and the late Sammy Klians, the late Arthur (Archie) Kay, and Estelle Ross; and sister-in-law of Bernard and Nancy Goldberg, the late Max and the late Irene Goldberg, the late Saul and the late Miriam Goldberg, the late Kate Rollnick, the late Bernard and the late Goldy Davidow. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and dear friends. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Rudski, Anna, and the nurses and staff of the second floor Cardiac Unit at the Jewish General Hospital. Douglas S. Gross

DOUGLAS S. GROSS (1930 – 2014) Douglas Gross of Aventura, Florida and formerly Hollywood, Florida and Montreal, Canada passed away suddenly but peacefully on April 28, 2014. He was born to the late Maurice and Germaine Gross on May 23, 1930 and was raised in Westmount, Quebec. Doug graduated from Westmount High School and McGill University. He was the beloved husband of Joan Reinisch for 52 years; a loving father to Billy (Debi), Bobby (Shirley), and Audrey (Brian); a proud Papa to Jake, Sam, Maddie, Jessie, Kayla, Eden and Jordan; and a devoted brother to Shirley Gross Miller, who preceded him in death. During his business career, Doug helped his father operate Comfort Kimona and Dress Company. In addition, he invested in real estate and in the stock market, which he continued to do when he moved to Florida. Throughout his extraordinary life, Doug was involved in numerous community activities, in a variety of capacities. He was the first-ever recipient of a Young Leadership award in the North American Federation movement, known in Montreal as the Barkoff Young Leadership Award. He later established a community service award in Broward County for young leaders. While keeping himself busy in the stock market and devoting himself to his family and the community, he also pursued his many passions, including golf, boating, technology and cars. His fondest and most enduring hobby – photography -- ignited when he got his first camera as a Bar Mitzvah gift. The camera became his constant companion, leaving a legacy of its own for his family and friends with lifelong, cherished memories through his countless pictures. A funeral service was held at Levitt Weinstein Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 30th. In their eulogy, family members spoke of his great sense of humor, and expressed gratitude for his unconditional love, generosity, kind heart, and devotion to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved him. His contribution and inspiration will endure forever. Predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Gertie. Dear brother of the late Raymond Singer. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Jamie and Eliza Wainberg, Deborah and Oren Obadia, the late Michael Wainberg; and step-mother of Jonathan and Donna Frankel, Daniel and Judy Frankel, Peter and Shanah Frankel. Loving daughter-in-law of Sarah Frankel. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Ann and Joseph Shatoff; and sister-in-law of Hannah Frankel. Cherished “Nana” of Victoria, and Emily Wainberg; Dalia, Abigail, and Maya Obadia; Amanda, Adam, Wendy, and Mia Frankel; Cassie, and Quinn Frankel; Max, and Isaac Frankel. Special aunt of Eve, and Diane Shatoff.
