Cherished grandfather of Dr. Jacques, and Nicole Balayla; Gabriel and Abigail Benchimol-Benarroch; Allon and Noam Cohen. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Raquel and Fortunato Carciente, and brother-in-law of Esther and the late Sasoni Macias.

Minnie Bernstein

BERNSTEIN, Minnie (née Shaffer). Suddenly, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in her eighty-fifth year. Beloved and devoted wife of Al for sixty-five years. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Harvey Bernstein and Gisele Godin, Maureen Blauer and Emanuel Tomasino; Lidia Bernstein and the late Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein. Adored “Grandma Minnie” of Matthew Bernstein, Philip and Ganit Bernstein, Jordan Bernstein; Dr. Evan and Keren Blauer, Robert Blauer; Jasmine and Dror Gabay, and the late Rebecca Blauer. Proud “Great-Grandma Minnie” of Benjamin, J.J., Maya, Avery, Ellie, and Sofie. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of Bluma Dieks (the late Bill Dieks, the late Herb Goldenberg), the late Hymie Shaffer (Ruth), the late Rose and the late Bernie Ettenberg, the late Harry Shaffer (Ruth), the late Willy Shaffer (the late Evelyn Shaffer, Marilyn Shaffer); and sister-in-law of Nat and the late Sarah Bernstein, Rae and the late Victor Resnick, Irving and the late Bernice Bernstein, the late Sam and the late Ester Bernstein, the late Annie and the late Norman Price. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Peacefully, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in his ninety-second year. Beloved and cherished husband of Beverly for sixty-three years. Loving father and father-in-law of Dr. Jeffrey and Beth Mendel, Nancy Mendel and Tom Ross, Wendy and Marc Greenberg. Cherished grandfather of Michele and Darren, Amy and Rob, Debbie and Micah, Josh, Amanda, Steven, and Jenny. Adored great-grandfather of Noah and Leo. Dear brother-in-law of Marilyn and the late Paul Landau; uncle of Jane and Alan Fishman. Special thanks to Ricky, Remia, Ofelia, Mercy, and Victor for all of their wonderful care. A proud and accomplished member of the McGill Engineering class of 1944, Arthur was a wise man who lived life to the fullest. He was caring and gentle; in every life he touched, he gave all the love he had to his family and they gave it all back and more. He always reminded us that his greatest accomplishments in life were his and Beverly's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Arthur was truly one of a kind. He will be missed by all who knew him. Cherished grandmother of Stacey Miller Nirenberg, and Marilyn Popov (Alex). Proud great-grandmother of Jordan, and Jason. Dear sister of Betty Lavut (Leo). Predeceased by her parents Sonia and Samuel Rubenstein of Hawkesbury, Ontario, as well by her siblings Frank, Goldie Katz, Max, Louis, Maurice (Vera), and Bernard. Much loved aunt and great-aunt. Special aunt of Zelda Katz, and Marlene Cantor (Fred). She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends. Liam Armstrong

Our little champion died peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2014, after fighting a long and brave battle. Liam was the absolute pride and joy of his parents, Jackie Leibov and Michael Armstrong. He was adored by his brother Harry, who will greatly miss him. Liam was the treasured grandson of Joyce Leibov and Jerry Cohen, Nadine Kabrita and the late Fouad Kabrita, Steve and Pat Armstrong; and the dear great-grandson of Sarah Cohen. He was a very special nephew to Laurie Leibov and Jared Gurman, Michael Leibov and Joanna Myszka, Valerie Kabrita and Rani Zantout, Micheline Kabrita and Antonio Curcuruto; as well as the cherished cousin of Amelia, Mia, Giuliana, Matteo and Sofia. He will also be sorely missed by his wonderful nannies, Rose Molino and Nancy Mondoux. Although they never met, Liam is now certainly being taken care of by his Zaidie Howie (the late Howard Leibov). Liam was a truly special boy who enriched the life of every person that came to know him. He was an inspiration and taught us all how to be brave, kind, and gentle. He put a smile on everyone’s face regardless of what he was going through, and there wasn’t a person who met him who didn’t love him immediately. We are all better for having known such an amazing boy. Liam will be sorely missed by his family, his friends and teachers at St. George’s School, and all the doctors and nurses at the Montreal Children’s Hospital who got to know him and became a part of our family. Special thanks to Dr. David Mitchell and the entire team of amazing doctors and nurses in the Haematology/Oncology Department for their exceptional care and compassion. DEUTSCH, Wilhelm (Willy). Born in Oradea Romania, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday March 13, 2014 at the age of eighty-three. Beloved son of the late Miriam and the late Samuel Deutsch. Devoted and loving husband of Alexandra (Coca) Micu. Great “Tati” and father-in-law of Gretty and Aubie Herscovitch, Luisa and Amer Burhan. Very proud and adoring Grandpa of David, Sean, and Rafi.
