Treasured sister and dear friend of Lynn (Lawrence), and Robert (Renee) of Toronto. Cherished aunt of Jennifer, Carolyn, and Andrea Spiegel-Feld; Allison, Jamie, and Michael Spiegel. Lenore left behind many friends in the United States and Canada. She was a gifted individual, blessed with remarkable intelligence, insight and compassion in her work as a Rehabilitation Psychologist, most recently for the past five years at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. Lenore was an accomplished pianist, having earned her Licentiate in Music from McGill University concurrently with her BA in Psychology. Born in Montreal, she moved to Philadelphia in 1980 following her graduation from McGill to pursue graduate studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, where she was awarded her Masters, PhD and EdD degrees in Psychology. Over the past ten years, Lenore travelled to over twenty five countries on five continents, and in addition to speaking three languages fluently, she always made the effort to learn to carry on conversations in many other languages in the places she visited. Endlessly fascinated by local culture, art and the diversity of people, she considered it important to make a personal connection with each and every person that she met. A devoted advocate of animal welfare, Lenore spent many years volunteering at the West Jersey Animal Shelter and adopted strays as her own. She believed in the power and strength of the human spirit and the importance of resolve in helping others to overcome physical and emotional challenges, which informed her work with rehab patients, and framed her own brave but brutal battle with Lymphoma. Even when no further treatment was possible, her last words were “so what do we do next?”. Her unremitting strength and resolve to fight the cancer, which she expressed even on the day that she died, astonished all those around her, and in particular her Medical Oncology team. Lenore’s family is grateful for the wonderful care she received from Dr. Stephen Schuster and his team at the Abramson Cancer Center at HUP. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Congregation Shaar Hashomayim Cemetery, 1250 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont.
