A caring and quiet man passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Much loved by his wife of fifty years, Susan Goldie. Adored father and father-in-law of Joel Berger, Deborah Berger and Daniel Lavan, Leah Berger and Brandon Blant. Cherished Zaida of Anna and Isaac Lavan; Jonah and Miles Blant. Harold will be sadly missed by his long-time friends, who valued his friendship and supported him during his brief illness. After a long and valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, on Shabbat, December 5, 2015, surrounded by his beloved family. Loving and devoted husband of Lily for fifty-eight years. Loved and cherished father and father-in-law of Sharona and Bernie Nadler, Adina and Colin Singer, Errol and Karen Blander. Exceptional Zaida of Talia, Samantha, and Jonathan Nadler; Jeremy, Oren, Daniel, and Jordana Singer; Davina, Jonah, Nathaniel, and Jesse Blander. Son of the late Reva Shragie and the late Saul Blander. Special brother and brother-in-law of Elana (Ethel) and the late Amos Spector of Israel, the late Sylvia Moscovitch (Dave), Sammy and Bozena Blander, Abraham and Louise Blander, and brother-in-law of Irving and the late Rose Itman, and the late Ruth Romaner. Stanley David Jacobson
June 23, 1930 – December 1, 2015. Stan left this planet at 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at North York General Hospital in Toronto, with Frances (Wisleski) his devoted wife of forty-five years at his side. Predeceased by his sister Helen, his mother Sadie and father Joseph. He leaves his loving sister-in-law, Grace Lindover (Tom Newman), nephews, Jamie Lindover (Laura) and David Lindover (Ellen), grandnephews, Sean and Cory Lindover, and his grandniece Kate. He will be sorely missed by his very best friend, his cat Ralphie. Spanning a career of over fifty years, Stan was an innovative and prolific television producer, director and writer, both in Canada and the U.S. From the Wayne and Shuster Comedy Hour to the Johnny Cash Show, a documentary on the Battle of Britain to the celebrated Skydome opening ceremony, as well as the opening ceremonies of the Calgary Olympics are just small examples of his prodigious body of work. Stan's proudest achievement was a theatrical first for Canada, when he negotiated the rights to produce the comedy hit, Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter in Toronto, while it was still running on Broadway. Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, a day after his eighty-sixth birthday. Beloved husband of Sara Cohen. Devoted father and father-in-law of Nancy and Beryl. Dear brother of Jacques, Marc, and Gisèle Altit. He will be sadly mourned by his siblings in Israel, his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Abraham was a quiet hero. We build on the foundations of those like him. He battled every challenge, assumed every duty with uncomplaining grace and optimism. His ready smile, quiet patience and sincere compassion comforted all whom he touched. He fought for his country, he eased the way for his family at every turn, and he triumphed over the ravages of disease that felled so many so much earlier. His final battle was fought with rare dignity and determination, as he had all those that had come before. He will be sorely missed. His like is rarely seen today. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruth Surkes (Koltz).
