DEMBERG, Maydie (nee Surkes). Peacefully in her 93rd year, on Thursday, November 12, 2015.
Beloved wife of the late Lew.
Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Carol and Irving, Mark, Michael and Barbara.
Loving Bubby of Barry, Stefanie and Ryan.
Grandmother of Jodi, Corey and Seth.
Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Lillie and the late Saul Mileret, the late Rose and the late Nat Nadigel; sister-in-law of Miriam and the late Rabbi Chaim Denburg, and Cantor Abraham and Magda Denburg.
Maydie will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Special thanks to her devoted caregivers Adena Forbes and Pearline Ferguson and the staff of Hope Pavillion 4A at the Eldercare Centre.

SMITH, Goldie (nee Hopkins). On Friday, November 27, 2015. Most beloved wife of Saul Smith for sixty-two years. Devoted and loved mother and mother-in-law of Marylin and Fred Carsley, Sheryl and Jeffrey Gilman, Arthur and Wendy Smith. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Elaine, David and Annette Carsley, and Dana Carsley; Melanie and Sean Zeitz, Perry and Dustin Gilman; Rachel and Leah Smith. Proud Bubby to her great-grandchildren, William and Henry Depow; Lexie and Jacob Zeitz. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Frank and the late Anne Hopkins, the late Lottie and the late John Greenwood, the late Jack and the late Cyrille Hopkins; and sister-in-law of Lisa and Bill Gartner, Aaron and the late Mary Schwartz. Albert Cohen

Peacefully, on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at the age of seventy-six. He is survived by his wife Solange Fichtenbaum, his children, Stephanie, and Alex (Amanda), his loving granddaughter Camille, and his sister, Dora Zevin (Harvey). He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Born in Egypt in 1939, he settled in Montreal in 1968 with his wife Solange, after living in France for fifteen years and serving in the French military. He worked as director of El Al Airlines for much of his career and taught at Concordia University in the continuing education department. He took great pride in everything he did and preferred discretion over recognition. Later in life he found a passion for sculpting and painting, never missing an opportunity to spend time in his studio. He displayed great courage, dignity and pride both in life and in his ultimate battle. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva strictly private.
