ARTHURS, Irene Margaret (nee Dunn). Passed away on November 10, 2000 at the age of eighty-four years. She was a retired teacher of the PSBGM. Beloved wife of the late David Arthurs. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Special thanks to Ionie and the staff of Chateau Westmount for their loving care of Irene. There will be a cremation followed by a private memorial service at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Collins Clarke Funeral Directors, 5610 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal.

Born June 4, 1919 in Woodstock, Ontario, she spent part of her life in Rosemere and Ste Anne des Plaines. She will forever be remembered for her love of animals. She leaves to mourn many friends and acquaintances who are invited to join together on Thursday, November 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Les Habitations La Roseraie, 263 Boul. Ste Rose, Laval. Burial at a later date in Woodstock, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cite de la Sante in Laval would be appreciated. Arrangements in care of Salon Funeraire Sylvie Fillion Inc.

CALDWELL, Jean (nee Spencer-Phillips). At the Griffith-McConnell Residence on November 17, 2000, aged eighty-two. Beloved wife of the late Thomas S. Caldwell of New Carlisle. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Elaine, her son Peter (Joyce Anne Ormerod), granddaughter Faye Anne, and sisters Elizabeth (Beamish), Pam (Bennett) and April (Olsen), also other family and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd., (corner Isabella) on Monday, November 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 3 p.m. Donations in her memory can be given to Women's Missionary Society, Knox Crescent Kensington and First Presbyterian Church, 6225 Godfrey, Montreal, H4B 1K3 or to the Good Samaritan Foundation (Griffith-McConnell Residence), 5790 Parkhaven, Cote St. Luc, H4W 1Y1. DEVER, Gretchen (Gay) (nee Heidman). Passed away on Friday, November 17, 2000 in the care of the Civic Hospital staff at the age of eighty-nine. Born November 15, 1911 in Ottawa. Graduated from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, she spent a lifetime caring for and about others. She had deep respect for and love of nature and took great satisfaction from a garden full of flowers which it was her pleasure to share. She especially enjoyed music, babies, animals, clouds and trees. Her faith was a constant which sustained her daily throughout her life. Gay is survived by Walter her loving husband of sixty-one years, her sister Isobel Read, sons John, Richard and Dan (Kitty) all of Ottawa-Carleton, her daughter Susan Nakamichi (Masaki). Grandmother to Janet, Matthew, Stephen, Jason, Jennifer, Eric, Elli, Ken and Mari and her great-grandchildren, Ashley and Briana. Predeceased by her brothers Stewart and Carl and her sister Connie Graham. We will miss her, as will her nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Memorial visitation will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on Tuesday, November 21, 2000 from 1 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 2 p.m. in the Pinecrest Cemetery Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Pinecrest Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers in memoriam donations to Charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Adored great-grandmother of Richard and Adam; Allison and Danielle Gold. Sadly mourned by her many nieces and nephews. She enriched the lives of all who knew her.
