Loving grandfather Tara, Sean, Brett and Jamie. Great-grandfather of Zachary and Daphne. Dear brother of Jane Sheppard. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Resting at the J.F. SMULDERS, Bernice Elizabeth (nee Gleason). Bernice's life journey began on August 5, 1933 in Montreal and ended peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2000 in Brampton. Bernice's role as a dedicated mother evolved to that of good friend to her children Matt Walsh and wife Jill, Kerrie and husband Don Oates, Brenda and husband Jim Glover, JoAnne Walsh, Valerie Plourde and Deb Harris. Bernice's most treasured and rewarding pleasure in life was the love that she shared with her ten grandchildren, Michelle, Katherine and Abram; Bobby and Lisa; Lynn, Corey and Kelly; and Daniel and Matthew, who will all cherish their happy memories of their Oma. She was a loving and devoted daughter to Kathleen (Maw) and the late John Gleason and will be sadly missed by her sisters, Gwen and husband Dino Pardo, Shirley (pre-deceased) and husband Ronald Moss, Winnie (Bunty) and husband Ronald Kennedy, Maureen and husband Henry Boisvert, Joan and husband Romeo Latour, and her brothers, David Gleason and Donald Gleason and wife Phyllis. She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Silverstein, Dr. Tweedale, Dr. Vu and the nursing staffs of Care Partners, Peel Branch and the Palliative Care unit at Peel Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at Andrew's Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Road in Brampton on Wednesday, June 7, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6:30 to 9 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Bernice's life will be held at St. Anthony's Church, 940 North Park Drive in Brampton, on Friday, June 9 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow on Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery in Montreal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North York General Hospital "Stand By Me" Campaign.
