BERCUSSON, Joseph. Born July 25, 1918. Died April 18, 2003, in Montreal, in his eighty-fifth year, after a very long illness. A man of astonishing strength of character, mind and will, and a powerful role model, he was the beloved and loving husband of Libby, and the loved and loving father of his seven children; Carolyn Behar, Brian, Judith, Debbie Lightstone, David, Naomi, Tamar Sudai. He is mourned by his sons-in-law Alexander Lightstone, Rafael Tzoubari and Moshe Sudai, and his daughter-in-law Catherine Haw. He was respected by all who knew him, family, friends and business associates. Over the years of his illness, all of us have missed, and missed out on, his presence, particularly his many grandchildren, who knew him as "Saba Joe": Yair, Naomi and Gordon, Jonathan and Vlada, Sarah, Amelia, Rachel, Bonnie, Simon, Sabrina, Liat, Carmit, Ofir, Eden, Maayan, Boaz, Oren, Dafna and Talia, and his great-grandchildren to whom he was "Super Saba": Elana, Daniel, David and Aliya. He is predeceased by his sister Beatrice Foy, whom he loved dearly, and is survived by his sister Lily Rosenberg. Funeral Service from Paperman and Sons, 3888 Jean Talon West on Monday April 21 at 10:45 a.m. Burial at Congregation Shomrim Laboker Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva private. BLECH, Shirley (nee Polatshek). Peacefully on Friday April 18, 2003, the second day of Passover (the sixteenth day of Nissan). Beloved and devoted wife of Harry (Hersh) Blech. Loving mother of Julie Brock (Neil Gladstone). Dear sister of Sol (Mona), Polachek and Lynn (Gerry) Weinstein. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Shirley was the long-time proprietor of Miss Westmount and will be remembered as an extremely warm and generous person, who always put the concern of others before herself. BOTT, Ruby (nee McCartney). Passed away peacefully on April 17, 2003 at the Barrie Memorial Hospital, Ormstown, Quebec at the age of eighty-three. Predeceased by her loving husband Willis Bott, cherished mother of Shirley, Phyllis, Dorothy, Myrna and Garry. She will be sadly missed by her loving eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been made for a graveside ceremony at 3 p.m. at the Gore Cemetery, Tuesday, April 22, 2003.
