PROULX, William (Bill). November 10, 1917 - April 24, 2003. At the age of eighty-five years passed away at St. Anne's Veteran's Hospital after suffering a severe stroke on April 4. Beloved father of Joanne and cherished father-in-law of Alain Dube. Predeceased by his loving wife Eileen (Mooney) and her sisters Rita and Sr. Margaret C.N.D., son of the late Sophie Brabant and Henri Proulx. Brother of the late Henry (May Bray), Leo and Margaret (Ray Milner). Loving uncle of niece Beverly (Poncho Fredericks) and nephews Johnnie and Kenny Proulx (Peterborough) as well as nephews Wayne and Brian Milner of New Brunswick and Niagra Falls respectively. Sadly missed and always remembered by family, relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be held at J.F. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home, 5784 Verdun Ave., Saturday, April 26, Sunday, April 27, Monday, April 28 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be at St. John Brebeuf Parish on Tuesday, April 29 at 11 a.m. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the St Anne's Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. A special note of thanks is extended towards the doctors, nurses and staff (Especially Real, Michelle, Therese, Nancy and Dr. Gabriel). The respect you demonstrate, the attentive care you provide and the tremendous support you give are without a doubt remarkable. Each of you are outstanding individuals and are truly dedicated to your chosen professions. We shall remain forever grateful. Thank you once again for everything.

PURCELL, Eric. Entered into rest at his residence, Brockville, on Tuesday April 22, 2003. Kenneth Eric Purcell of Brockville (formerly of Montreal) age eighty-one years. Beloved husband of the former Doreen M. Hosterman. Dear father of Rick Purcell and his wife Patricia and Heather Purcell all of Pointe Claire, Quebec. Grandfather of Christopher and Mark Alsop and Jason and Jared Purcell, also survived by a sister Margaret Shaw of Abbotsford, BC, a niece Linda Morden and a nephew Bruce Shaw. Pre-deceased by his parents John Russell Purcell and his wife Jean Middleton Purcell. At the request of Mr. Purcell there will be no visitation or service. Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville (613-342-2792) entrusted with the arrangements.

Cherished grandmother to Curtis and Makayla. Predeceased by her son Ken and daughters Brenda and Carol. Former wife and friend of James Rickert. Also survived by sisters Myrtle, Louann (Doug) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Resting at the Blythe Bernier Funeral Home, 940 Ogilvy Ave (at Stuart) Park-Ex. FITCH, Helen. (nee Malinowski). In California, on August 19, 2003, Helen passed away unexpectedly at the age of sixty-two. Comforted by her loving husband Bob and caring friend Tadea Pylko. Her courage and strength allowed her to face her medical challenges with her usual humor. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Bob's son, Bob Junior (Anne), their children, Katie and Emily, and his daughter Julie (Larry) and their children Jason, Lauren and Jane. She was predeceased by her parents Izydor Malinowski and Mary Gedeon. She is survived by many relatives and friends both in Canada and California all of whom she treasured. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will take place on Tuesday September 2, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery (across from the office). A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment. Donations to a lung association would be appreciated.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Magnus Poirier Funeral Complex, 7388 boul Viau, St. Leonard. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29 at Notre Dame de Pompei church at 10 a.m., thence to Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Friday as of 8 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

On August 17, 2003 at the age of sixty-eight years, passed away accidentally Alfred Laplante, son of the late Wilfred Laplante and of Fernande Poupart. Other than his mother, he leaves to mourn his wife Ghislaine Voyer and their two children Pierre (Simonne Leclerc) and Monique, as well as the children of his spouse, Dr. Francois Milord (Vicky Shapeta), Chantal Milord (Marco Salvas) and Carole Milord (Dr. Christian Ferland). He was the brother of the late Lise (Andre Hebert), Huguette (Bernard Leblanc), the late Pauline (Pierre Robidoux), Richard (Saida El-Haili), Suzanne (Jim Edward), Claude (Linda Gallagher) and Danielle (Gerard Dalphond). He also leaves to mourn eight grandchildren, many aunts, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, cousins, and numerous friends. He was Member of l'A.P.B.Q. and the l'A.R.R.Q.
