Vaillancourt Viens, Jeannine

Passed away in Ayer's Cliff, on June 6, 2014 at the age of 82 years and 6 months. Daughter of the late Joseph Vaillancourt and the late Éliosa Poulin and lovings wife of the late Raymond Viens. Beloved mother of Michel (Diane Labbée), Pierre (Jacqueline Roy), Linda, Christiane (Daniel Lalime), Marc (Carole Batrie), Jacques and Renald (Brenda-Lee Roy). Cherished grandfather of François, Philippe, Véronique, Mathieu, Pascal, Emmanuel, Marie-Pier, Jennifer, Élisabeth, Marc-Antoine, Jonathan, Marianne, Alexandra, Gabrielle and Raphael and great grandmother of Lucas, Audrey, Zacharie, Félix, Logan, Megan and Naomie. Jeannine leaves to mourn her brothers the late Roland (the late Marie-Paule) and Claude (Annette), her sisters Yvette (the late John Rousseau), Doris (the late Charles Davis), her brother-in-law Nelson (Jeannine Côté), her sister-in-law Monique (the late Marcel Viens), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 900 Clough St. Ayer's Cliff, on Saturday, June14, 2014 from 11 am to 1:45 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm in the St-Barthelemy Church followed by the interment in the Ayer's Cliff catholic cemetery. The family would like to thank Brenda-Lee Roy and Jacqueline Roy, Christiane Viens, Daniel Lalime, Dr. Masse and the staff at the CLSC Memphremagog for the wonderful care given to our mother. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 5151 Boul, L'assomption, Montreal, QCc, H1T 4A9 or another research organization for cancer.

Thompson Jr., Herbert

Passed away at the Hotel Dieu Hospital on Friday, December 30, 2011, at the age of 69. Herbert Thompson Jr. was the beloved husband of the late Joyce Sylvester and was the loving companion of Isabelle Taillon. Dear father of Penny (John Markey), Patti (Paul Audit), Peggy (David Coates), and Anthony (Charlene Olson); Cherished grandfather of: Raymond, Hilary, Jesse, the late Dustin, Samantha, Jennifer-Ann, Joey, Tanya, and J.D. ;Herbert will also be sadly missed by his great-grandchild Deejay Therrien, along with his brother Paul (Solange Blais), other relatives and many friends. Resting at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 588 Main, Bury, where friends may call on Wednesday, Januauy 4, 2012, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, January 5, 2012, from 1-2:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m.. Interment will be held in the Bury cemetery at a later date. As a tribute to his memory, donations made to the Light Horse Committee of the Cookshire Fair, c/o Shanna Loach, 1750 Ch. Sparkes, Letha (nee Hughes)

At the Argyll Pavillion, Sherbrooke QC, on March 10th, 2009 at the age of 86. Lee Sparkes, wife of the late Archie Sparkes and dear mother of David (Phyllis Cass), Betty and Linda (Raymond St-Laurent). Loving grandmother of Tina and Scott and great grandmother of Brooke, Dylan, Ashley, and Chelsea. Dear sister of David, Clinton and Essie. Predeceased by her sisters Marie, Honey, Polly and her brother Lawrence. At her request, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held, followed by the interment in the Danville Protestant Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Cass Funeral Home, Lennoxville (819) 564-1750

Ross May, Elaine

Sadly we announce the passing of Elaine Ross May on Monday, May 8th, 2017 at the age of 92. Elaine was born in Montreal to Gertrude Budge Ross and George Allen Ross. She grew up in Westmount and attended Trafalgar School. In 1945 she graduated from the University of Toronto School of Occupational Therapy. She married William Weir May in 1947 who predeceased her. Throughout her career, she worked at the Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Queen Mary Veterans’, the Montreal General and Pasteur Hospitals, Montreal Rehabilitation Institute and Recreation for the Handicapped.

In 1972, Elaine founded the Montreal United Workshop Association and in 1976 was awarded the Order of Canada for her work re-integrating residents with challenges as productive members of society. She was a tireless community volunteer for numerous groups and causes. Elaine was an inspiration to all who knew her - full of new innovative ideas - always off on another adventure. Well remembered for her antics of scavenger hunts, tipping canoes, catching frogs and kick the can.

Elaine is survived by her children William (Valerie), Shirley Tagalik (James), Diane (Robert Bean) and grandchildren Cameron (Jessica), Kukik (Darryl), Duncan, May (Donny), Keely (Dan), Olivia, Ryan (Rebecca); great-grandchildren Natalie, Quasa, Qaviajak, Alexander, Blake, Aria and Angutimmarik.

A celebration of her life will take place in July at Weir Memorial Park in Ogden. She requested that tax deductible contributions be made for the beautification of Weir Memorial Park, 125 Descente 20, Ogden, QC, J0B 3E3.

Ross, Charles W.

Passed away peacefully at the CHUS Fleurimont in Sherbrooke, on Thursday February 23 2017, Mr. Charles Ross in his 91st year.

Charles leaves to mourn his loving wife of 66 years, Lena Millar, along with his nieces, nephews, many dear friends, with a special thanks to Jim Thompson for being there for us.

Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St., Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), where friends may visit on Friday March 3rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and on Saturday from 1 to 2 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday March 4th at 2:00PM with the Rev. Blair Ross officiating. Interment in the Malvern Cemetery. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff of the 8th floor surgery, CHUS Fleurimont, for the wonderful care they provided.

Donations to The Wales Home Foundation, 506 Rte 243N, Cleveland J0B 2H0 would be greatly appreciated.

Shelden, Wayne

Passed away suddenly at his home in Stanstead (Beebe) on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the age of 67. Adoring son of the late Basil Shelden and the late Minnie Goyette. Cherished husband of Geraldine McKnight and loving brother of Dale (Marguerite), the late Archie (Irene Eryou) the late Lawrence (Irene), and the late Louise (Clarence Rolleston)). Wayne will also be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Laura (the late Elwood McKnight), along with his sister-in-law Eleanor (the late Robert Boomhour) and brother-in-law Douglas (Ginette), nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 545 Dufferin, Stanstead 819-876-5213 on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, where friends may visit from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by the service in the funeral home with Reverend Barbara Wintle officiating.

Garneau, Jean-Paul

Passed away peacefully at his residence in Stanstead on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Beatrice Duquette and cherished husband of Jeanne D’Arc Roy. Loving father of Jean-Guy and the late Diane. Dear brother of the late Antoinette (the late Auguste Ouellette), the late Anna-Marie (the late Jacques Grondin), the late Gérard (Suzanne Pratte), André (Jeannine Doyon), and Thérèse (Raymond Rodrigue). Jean-Paul will also be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law: René (Sonia Beaupre), Richard (Judy Achilles), Léonard Boisvert, Michel (Micheline Lambert), Marthe (John Dewolf), Florent (Lise Boisvert), Jacqueline (Pierre Viens), Daniel (Giséle Daviau); the Duquette family:Irène (Georges Cronin) Thérèse (the late Jos Simonu), and Ervlin; he was predeceased by his sisters –in-law Anna Tétreault, Claudette Boisvert, the late Dorothy Duquette Blouin, as well as his brothers-in-law Henri Blouin and Jos Simonu. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 545 Dufferin, Stanstead 819-876-5213 on Friday, March 13, 2009 where friends may visit from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and also on Saturday, March 14 from 12:00 p.m. until departure for the Sacred Heart Church at 1:50 p.m. where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will take place in Mont-Ste-Marie in the spring. As a tribute to his memory, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 3330 King Ouest, bureau 130, Sherbrooke, QC. Emery Rice, Dorothy

Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the age of 88 years.
She was a resident, with her husband, at the Connaught Home, North Hatley, QC.
She was the loving wife of 63 years of Thomas Herbert Rice and loving and caring mother to three sons, Jeffery[ Barbara] of Lake St. Louis Missouri, Michael [Jona] of Norman, Oklahoma and Brian of Norman Oklahoma..The cherished grandmother to Debbie and Tony [Jeff & Barbara] and Erin & Keri [Mike & Jona] and great grandmother to Tyler Ferguson [Debbie & Tim Ferguson], Riley Pointer, Kale and Kamden Daugherty [Erin & Tyson Daugherty] and Arianna, Anaya and Joslin Rice [Cindy & Tony Rice]. Dorthy is survived by her caring sister, Phyllis Emery Skeats of North Hatley, QC, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends who’s lives she touched and was touched by. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Connaught Home, 77 Main Street, North Hatley QC J0B 2C0 would be appreciated by the family. Internment of her ashes will be at the Hatley United Church cemetery at a time to be announced.

Gagnon Wilson, Florence

At the Connaught Rest Home, North Hatley QC, on Friday Feb 27, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Florence Gagnon, beloved wife of the late Vernon Wilson and beloved mother of Geraldine (Jim), Jeff 'Butch' (Cecile), Bill (Lynne), and Frank (Jane). Florence was the cherished grandmother of, John, Julie, Stacey, Sarah, Jessica, Rebecca, and Jamie. Great grandmother to Austin and Hailey Veilleux, Kurtis and Krista Call, and Mckenzie Stone. She is survived by her brothers and sister; Jimmy, 'Jiggs' (Albert), and Irene, and was predeceased by her sister Maggie.

Evans Hodge, Henrietta

Peacefully at the CHUS Fleurimont Hospital, Sherbrooke, QC on Sunday, March 5th 2006, in her 95th year. Ernestine Evans, beloved wife of the late Herbert Hodge, dear mother of Raymond (Edythe), Alethea (Dave), Gordon (Brenda), Lawrence (Carol) and Gwen (Ted); she was predeceased by her sons Malcolm (May), David and Graydon (Laurel); cherished grandmother of 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Ernestine was predeceased by her sisters: Annie Dawson and Florence King. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 15 Station St. Sawyerville, QC.: Tel. (819) 564-1750 , on Friday, March 10 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 2:00p.m. in the Sawyerville United Church with the Rev. Barbara Willard officiating assisted by Mr. Justin Lowry. Interment will be held in the Eaton Cemetery in the spring. Erskine Doheny, Harriet

Born at Cambo House in the Kingdom of Fife, Kingsbarns, Scotland. Died peacefully, Thursday, March 2nd 2006 after an amazingly courageous battle with cancer. In her 39th year, or so she said. The youngest daughter of Sir Thomas and Lady Erskine, wife of the late Hugh Doheny, beloved mother of Micky (Peg), Penelope (Kent), Kathleen (Brian), Mary (Ray), Lucinda and Victoria (Brian), and adored Nana of Charles, Maggie, Mary Grace and Mimi. Her surviving siblings: Sir David and Lady Erskine, Vicky Erskine and Conty Patch. She served in World War ll as a WRENS (Womens Royal Naval Service) and was informally promoted to Petty Officer in 1999. She will be sadly missed by her countless friends and family. A memorial service will be held at a later date. As per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations to the SPA (Society for Protection of Animals) will be appreciated.
