Word has been received of the death of Cleo (Almon) Leger, 86, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at the Residence Ducharme, Montreal.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Josie Almon.
She worked at F.W. Woolworth, Glace Bay before moving to Montreal.
Survived by sons, Guy (Line Dunn), Raymond and daughter, Donna Leger, all of Montreal. Grandmother to Martin and Julien.
Also survived by one brother, Joseph (Claudia) Almon, Glace Bay; sisters, Mary Campbell, Riverview, N.B. and Annie MacNeil, Glace Bay; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Leger and a brother, Patrick.
Friends will be received by the family at Alfred Dallaire Funeral Home, Pierre Fonds, Quebec on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cleo’s memory may be made to the Residence Ducharme, c/o Donna Leger, 1930 de Lombardie, Vimont, Laval, Quebec, H7M 2W1 or to a charity of choice.

Beloved husband of Ellen Anapolsky.
Son of the late Morris and the late Gitel Rukasin.

Ann Marie (McKenna) Randle, RN, formerly of Sydney Mines, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Montreal.
Daughter of Mary Devoe and the late Frank T. McKenna.

R.W. (Ray) Nymark
Pierrefonde, Que.
Ray died suddenly at his home in Pierrefonde, Que., Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001.
He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Olga Nymark of 209 Argyle St., Sydney, and his sister, Mildred Paterson.
He was born in Thunder Bay, Ont., Nov. 22, 1927.
He is survived by his wife, Dini; his daughter, Tia Watt (Danny) and two grandchildren, Ayden and Danika; brother, Herbert Nymark (Margie), Sydney; sisters, Joyce Urquhart, Sydney, and Eunice (Bill) Thomas, Tatamagouche.
Ray graduated from Sydney Academy in 1947.
While in the RCAF, he served on the Korean Airlift.
On retirement he was a pilot for MCA Airlines in Montreal and also served with Nordair Airlines in Montreal.
After receiving his chartered accountant degree, he served with Brown and Bovari until his retirement.
Ann Marie (McKenna) Randle, RN
Montreal, Que.
Ann Marie passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Montreal, Que., surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines, N.S., she was a daughter of Mary Devoe and the late Frank T. McKenna.
Surviving are her loving husband, Roland; stepfather, Walter Devoe; daughters, Lisa Crevier, Judah (Mike Semenack); sons, Chris (Bing), Wade (Teddi) and Luke Crevier; sisters, Geraldine (George Walker), Helen (Mike Woroby); brothers, Frank (Barbara), Michael (Sally) and Blaise (Donna); stepsisters, Diane (Donnie), Lynn, Patricia and Michelle; stepbrothers, Gerard (Rita), Colin (Margaret), Blair and Kevin; three grandchildren and many extended family members.
Ann Marie graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Predeceased by brother, Louis Adrian.
Funeral mass was held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Montreal with Fr. B. Martin officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Interment in Sydney Mines, N.S. at a later date.
Marie Briffett
69, Quebec / Donkin, N.S.
Marie Briffett, 69, of 203 3rd Ave., Verdun, Que., passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Verdun General Hospital.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Isabella (Noseworthy) Briffett.
Marie was a resident of Verdun since 1948; a member of St. Willibrordi Parish, Verdun, and a former member of St. Gregory’s Parish in Donkin.
Marie was a retired employee with Northern Telecom.
She will be sadly missed by brothers, David, Verdun, Que., Ronald (Margaret), Dieppe, N.B., and Malcolm, Donkin; sister, Gladys (Mrs. Herbert Spurrel), Athleston, Que.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Joseph, Fred, James and Albert ‘Tony’ and half-brother, Thomas Yetman and a sister, Beatrice.
Visitation and funeral mass celebration at St. Gregory’s Church, Donkin, will be under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with the date and time to be announced.
