Bea Brock
On Thursday, September 13, 2013, in Calgary. Our much loved mother and grandmother Bea Brock was born in Russia in 1907 and immigrated to Canada at an early age. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend Howard to whom she was married for sixty-five years, her son Fred, her son-in-law Mervyn Brettschneider and six siblings. Bea is survived by her daughter Carol, grandchildren, Mindy Joffe (Danny), Fred Brettschneider (Michele) and Richard Brettschneider (Donna), seven great-grandchildren, and her brother Albert Rosen of Winnipeg. Bea was a tireless and active woman with endless amounts of energy: she danced, swam, cooked, gardened and sewed well into her nineties. She was a talented musician who played the violin until her one-hundredth birthday. Bea was kind, warm and loving. She will be sorely missed. Bea moved to Calgary at the age of ninety-nine. She was lucky to have two wonderful caregivers, Racquel and Teresa, to help keep her company during that time. The family wishes to express their gratitude to them, as well as the staff at the Beverly South for their kindness and compassion. Graveside service on Sunday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shomrim Laboker Congregation Cemetery, de la Savane.
