It is with profound sadness that the family of Abe Farber announces his passing on Monday, January 6, 2014. Beloved husband of Shirley Sager. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Renee and the late Dr. Avie Rapoport of Ottawa, Dr. Jeffrey Farber and Barbara Kader Farber of Ottawa, Paul Farber of Boston, and Maura Farber. Cherished “Zaida” of Drs. Melissa and Danny Berlin, Samantha Rapoport; Melanie and Minh Tran, Dr. Allison Farber, Brandon Farber; Edward and Jacob Farber. Loving great-grandfather of Kayla Farber Tran; Rachel and Ethan Berlin. Brother and brother-in-law of the late Ida and the late Sydney Grossner, uncle of Clifford Grossner and Gina Grossner. There are no words to express how much he will be missed by his family and many devoted friends. February 22, 1921 – January 13, 2014. Peacefully, on Monday, January 13, 2014, at the age of ninety-two. Husband of the late Bena Godlovitch, the late Rita Jodhan, and Diane Maislin. Beloved father and father-in-law of Michael and Leona, Larry and Marie-Rose, Michelle and Jeff Radun. Loving grandfather of Bradley and Jennifer, Jamie and David; Bena and Danielle; Liane and Emma. Great-grandfather of Olivia and Harrison. Predeceased by his siblings. Well known in the community for his exploits on the basketball court, he played for the 1948 Canadian Olympic Team, the 1950 Canadian National Championship Team, and the Canadian Maccabiah teams of 1950, 1953 and 1957. He became the honorary captain in 1997.
