David Segal

Peacefully, at the age of eighty-five, on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in Florida. Beloved husband of the late Stella Segal. Loving father and father-in-law of Martin and Nadine. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bob and Ann Segal. Loving uncle of Clifford and Marylyn, Steven and Barbara, Sammy and Louise, and their children. Sadly mourned by family and friends in Montreal, Florida and Alexandria Bay, NY. David was Past President of B'nai Brith Eastern Regional Council (1973). He enjoyed a wonderfully adventurous and creative life to the very end. David’s thoughtfulness, resourcefulness and good humour will be greatly missed by his family and all of his friends. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Friday, January 10 at 11 a.m. Burial at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva private. MILLER, Mary (née Sheiner). Peacefully, after a brief illness, on Monday, January 6, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Irving. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Gary and Sheila Miller, and the late Farla Miller Hoffer. Cherished grandmother of Howard and Tanya Margolese, Stephanie and Gabriel Szraibman, and Joshua Miller. Proud great-grandmother of Noah, Gita, Eryn, and Alexandra Margolese. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Florence and the late Albert Sheiner, Yetta and the late Manny Sheiner, Molly and the late Sam Herlich, the late Sam and the late Rose Sheiner, the late Jack and the late Bea Sheiner, the late Eva and the late Jack Raphael, the late Sally and the late Sidney Klein, the late George Sheiner, the late Ann and the late Morris Moscovitch, the late Toba and the late Mark Gillick, the late Hyman and the late Bella Miller and the late Jean Miller. KALICHMAN, Nathan (Kelly). After a long and beautiful life, peacefully at home, on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the age of ninety-two. Beloved husband and best friend of Evelyn Segal for 69 years. Loving father of Carol and Marty Sulsky, Howard and Kathy, Peter and Lori. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bella and the late Bernard Glatt, Goldie and Eugene Eisenberg, Syd and Rose, the late Sam and the late Ruthie; and brother-in-law of Phillis and Albert Freedin, Ben and the late Lee Romm, the late Marion Segal. Adored “Grandpa Kelly” of Nic and Lori, Alex; Carly, Jessica; David, Jacob, Sophie and Daniel; and great-grandfather of Ava. He will be sadly missed by his many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Fortune and Jacques Zrihen, David Gozlan, Estrella and Harold Schiff, Lily and Samy Toledano, Raquel and Bernie Rashcovsky, Maurice and Jocelyne Gozlan. Cherished grandmother of Yorel, Nathalie and Philippe Zrihen; Arièle, Jessica and Audrey Gozlan; Cathy, Karin and Harry Schiff; Yann and David Toledano; Oliver, Nathan and Joel Rashcovsky; Pascale and Gabriel Gozlan; and all their spouses. Tola (Tauba) Granek

GRANEK, Tola (née Tauba Grosman). Suddenly on Sunday, January 5, 2014, in her ninety-third year, after enduring a lengthy illness with dignity and courage. Tola's life was lived with compassion and devotion as beloved wife to her husband of sixty-five years, the late Benek; unconditionally loving mother of Marvin (Joanne), Willie, and Henry; and as proud, doting Bubby of her cherished grandson Justin (Ally). Predeceased by her family of blessed memory who perished in the Holocaust - she was a daughter to Moshe and Leah Grosman, a sister to Chaim and Mordechai; selflessly dedicating herself to them in the Lodz ghetto and in Auschwitz. Tola will be sadly missed by her niece and nephew in Israel, Rachel Geshuri (Amichai) and Yacov Granek (Tami), her cousins, as well as all those in the community whose lives she touched and inspired. Treasured and admired Zaydie of Randi and Jonathan; Kayla and Micah. Devoted brother and brother-in-law of the late Jennie and the late Ben Finestone, Leah and the late Jack Teplitsky, Gertie and the late Sam Friedman, and brother-in-law of the late Ruth and the late Louis Diamond, Phyllis and the late Joe Freeman. During his illness, Sam was cared for with extraordinary love and devotion by Vivian and Randi Cohen, to whom the family will be forever grateful.
