STEIN, Ann (née Cohen). Peacefully in her ninety-third year, at home on Friday, December 20, 2013. Wife of the late Gerald Stein. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Judith Stein of New York, Linda and Seymour Steinman. Cherished Grandma of Lauren Steinman. Dear sister-in-law of Boris and Bea Stein, the late Harry and the late Dorothy Stein, the late Leah, and the late Sophie Stein. Sister of Doris Brott. LEVITT, Morton. Peacefully, on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Rebecca Markow. Cherished father of Judy, Marilyn (Edwin) and Daniel (Alicia). Devoted Grandpa of Jade, Sara and Carmen. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bella and the late Wilf Yaphe, Mollie and the late Martin Daneman, Larry and Thelma Levitt, Joseph and the late Rochelle Levitt, Aaron Levitt, Donald and the late Lillian Voronoff, Monique and the late Sydney Levitt, the late Victoria and the late Matthew Levitt, the late Esther and the late Sam Yellin, the late Simon and the late Eleanor, and the late Morris Levitt; and brother-in-law of the late Freda, the late Jack, and the late Ethel. Morton was a man of strong moral character and unwavering ethics. He was a well-respected chemical engineer who built and ran a very successful electroplating business. Very active right into his nineties, he excelled in many sports and shared this enjoyment with his entire family. He was always a generous benefactor to all those in need; an exemplary role model throughout his life for his family and community. The family extends their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the loving caregivers for allowing him to spend his last few months in the comfort of his home: our “Major Domo” Cora, our “911” Evelyn and Aurelia. Dr. Fern J. Cramer Azima
On Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Wife of the late Dr. Hassan Azima. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Renée and Richard Heller, Andrea and Matthew Frank. Cherished grandmother of Alexa and Drew Heller; David, Raquel and Jacklyn Frank. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Bunny and Dr. Mortimer Lechter, the late Birdie and the late Aaron Kizell, the late Edith and the late Mal Dental. Daughter of the late Moses and the late Leah Cramer. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family, friends and colleagues. Dr. Cramer-Azima was a scholar, published author, teacher, travelled and lectured world-wide. Graduate of Queens University, Cornell University, and University of Montreal; Associate Professor of Psychiatry, McGill University and Director of the Child & Adolescent Service, Therapy Day Centre at the Allan Memorial Institute/Royal Victoria Hospital; President (1989 to 1992) International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Editor, The Forum; President (2007-), Canadian Group Psychotherapy Foundation; Consultant for the United Nations. A pioneer in occupational therapy, she created the Azima Diagnostic Battery which is still administered today. She worked with great scientists including Penfield and Cameron on revolutionary studies dealing with sensory and sleep deprivation; she was one of the first to use behavioural studies in marketing research which included advertising campaigns for Esso’s Put a Tiger in Your Tank and the Marlboro Man.
