HERSH, Jack. Peacefully in his eighty-sixth year, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Beloved and devoted husband of Miriam Gilman. Much loved father and father-in-law of Leslee, Warren and Donna (Cohen). Dearly loved and cherished grandfather of Brandon, Andrew; and Lauren Bess Hersh. Dear brother-in-law of Moe and the late Arlene Gilman, Shirley and the late Joe Merowitz, the late Dinah and the late Reuben Rosen, the late Hyman and the late Rose Gilman. He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. David Melnychuk, the nurses and staff of 8 NW at the Jewish General Hospital for their care and compassion. Adored “Poppa” of Todd, Cari and Marc, Amy, Andrea, Victoria, the late Matthew, Lindsay, the late Michael, Brandon, Gabrielle, Charles-Patrick. Proud great-grandfather of Jace, Zack, Lexi, Daisy, Jade, Jorja, and Laila. Son and son-in-law of the late Anne and the late Max Liverman, the late Lily and the late Harry Pollett. Dearest brother and brother-in-law of Marion and the late Leonard Liverman, the late Ruth Briskin; and brother-in-law of Naomi and the late Morris Bendon, Daniel and the late Ella Bendon, Joyce and the late Henry Scullion. Patriarch of a large and loving extended family, he will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and many friends. Nathan Letovsky

September 16, 1925 – April 28, 2014. On Monday, April 28, 2014. Beloved husband of Lillian (Leah) Simpson, and the late Judith Levitan. Loving father and father-in-law of Robert Letovsky and Sheila Stober of Jericho, Vermont, and Constance Letovsky Hoffman. Cherished grandfather of Erin and Tom, Daniel, Levy and Heidi, Chaya, Goldie, Schneur Zalman, Schmuel, Menachem and Samantha, Rivkie, Sholom, Devorah and Yehudis. Proud great-grandfather of Noah. Brother and brother-in-law of Dorothy and the late Jack Letovsky, and predeceased by his other siblings and their spouses, Edward Letovsky, Fannie and Rubin Bitensky, Katie and Philip Shtull, Bessie Segal, Eva and Abraham Morris, Sarah and Sam Walsh. He will be missed by Sonia and Zalman, stepchildren, Bill and Eva, Brian and Judah; and their children, Sarah, Miriam, Mikayla and Sonny; as well as by many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Nathan began his business career in the family butcher shop and transformed it into one of Canada’s largest meat importers. In 1972, he sold the company to pursue his lifetime passion in art. He studied at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, then at the École des Beaux Arts. During his long career as an artist, he worked out of his studios in Old Montreal and Ste. Agathe to produce hundreds of paintings – primarily landscape scenes of the Laurentians and abstracts. Nathan held numerous shows over the years in and around Montreal and Ottawa. His works can be found in residences as well as offices and boardrooms across Quebec and Ontario. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Wednesday, April 30 at 2 p.m. Burial at the Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem Congregation, de la Savane. Shiva at 6635 Mackle Rd. #606, C.S.L., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily, through Sunday evening. Marvin Cohen

Peacefully, in his eighty-ninth year, on Monday, April 28, 2014. Beloved husband of Shirley Miller for sixty-five years. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Norma and the late Jack Gruman. Predeceased by his other sisters, Anita and Frances. Marvin will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
