Robert Luttmerding
We regret to announce the death of our beloved father Robert Luttmerding who died peacefully on April 27, 2008. Robert was born May 3, 1921 in Sila, Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Saskatchewan in 1929 with his family where they grain and cattle farmed for 35 years. In 1955 Robert married Rita Warnke and began to raise their family. In 1966 they moved to Armstrong, BC and continued farming and raising us kids. Robert retired in 1987 and lived on the farm until 2003 when mom and pa moved into town. Robert was predeceased by his parents August and Christina, eight siblings, son Leo, grandson Bernard and his loving wife of 52 years, Rita. After mom's death just three short months ago, Pa was ready to join her. He leaves to mourn his sons Robert, Eric, Arnie (Bonnie) Luttmerding, daughter Anne (Ken) Kelly, his grandchildren Erin (Dean), Adam, Maryanne, Kristen, Erica, Miranda (Matthew), Samantha, Riley, Caitlin, Colton, Mason and Paxton, sister-in-law Mary Luttmerding, extended family Wendy Galbraith and Brenda Luttmerding, nieces and nephews. Prayers for Robert were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Friday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Armstrong, BC. Father Leo Boyd, O.M.I. celebrant. A tea was held at the Church Hall following interment at Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetary. Gertrude "Pauline" Scovoranski
Pauline Scovoranski passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 13, 2008 surrounded by the love of her family and friends, at the age of 66 years. Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Annie Zackrisson, one son, Steven Martin Scovoranski, a brother-in-law, Emil Porth, god children, niece and nephew, Brian and Glenda Porth. Pauline will be lovingly remembered by her son, Edward (Sandy) Scovoranski of Regina, granddaughters, Cassandra Shangraw and Renee Titheradge, great grandson, Cameron Titheradge, sisters: Edith Porth of Tribune and her children, Linda Porth and Sheila (Don) Dziendzielowski, Margaret (Tom) O'Donnell of Regina and their children, Deborah (Pat) Beach, Kimberely (Faron) Voss and Tanya O'Donnell, brother, John (Kay) Zackrisson of Regina and their daughter, Victoria Zackrisson; aunts, Gertrude Zackrisson and Elizabeth Ehrmantraut, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Gertrude "Pauline" Zackrisson was born in Estevan on March 10, 1942 and after living on the family farm south of Tribune for a short time, she moved with her family to Regina in 1944. Pauline took her schooling from Grade 1 - 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Regina where she was active in choir, baseball, Brownies, Girl Guides and Our Lady of Society Girls Group. She attended Balfour Technical School for Grades 9 and 10, following which she took a secretary course at Success Business College. When her Dad built Motel 385 in Weyburn, Pauline was hired as the Manager, a position that she held for 19 years. During this time she took a Hotel and Motel Management Course by correspondence, achieving the 3rd highest mark in Canada. While managing the Motel, she was active in the church choir, bowling, curling and badminton. Pauline married Robert Scovoranski on May 21, 1966 at Tribune and they had a family of two boys, Edward and their chosen son, Steven. The marriage ended in 1979. Steven passed away on May 9, 1985 as the result of an accident. Pauline was a wonderful cook and baker so when the motel was sold in 1981, she worked for several years at various Weyburn eating establishments sharing her talent and recipes. Patrons of the Elks, Trucker's Inn, the A&W and the Weyburn Curling Rink canteen in the early 80's will no doubt recall enjoying some of her goodies. In 1986, she started volunteering at Souris Valley Extended Care Centre with visiting the residents, assisting with the resident's sing-a-longs and writing for the volunteers in the "Snooper" monthly paper. In 1996, she received her 1,000 hour bar for her volunteering. Pauline struggled with the challenges of diabetes for many years. She was able to remain living in her own home with the assistance of many friends as caregivers until December of 2006 when she became a resident at Tatagwa View. Here she became involved in the many activities offered including floor curling, art classes, Bingo, Bunko and other card games. She was a founding member and conductor of Tatagwa View's Resident's Choir and served as House One's representative as well as vice-president of the Resident's Council. She loved the companionship of her fellow residents and the wonderful staff. Pauline enjoyed writing poetry and had 3 poems published. In 1990 she was awarded the Golden Award in the United States for her poetry. As a special gift to her nieces and other special people in her life, she combined her love of poetry and cooking by compiling a cookbook of her favorite recipes with a personalized poem for the book's recipient. Pauline was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir and served as a Eucharistic minister to the shut-ins of the parish until her own declining health made it difficult to do so. As a member of the CWL, Pauline was in charge of passing on birthday wishes to the members. She always looked forward to visiting with them on their special day and likewise, the members looked forward to her call. She served on a number of phoning committees for the parish including assisting with the organizing of funeral lunches. When health challenges limited her mobility the phoning committees and activities such as making Pro-Life ribbons kept her involved and occupied her time. She served as secretary for the Diabetic Chapter in Weyburn, phoning person for the Compassionate Friends from Regina, secretary for the Voice of People with Disabilities (Weyburn Chapter), was a member of the Kinsmen Seniors and Multicultural Society. She was a founding member of the Grief Support Group in Weyburn. She was always selling tickets for one organization or another. Pauline was a huge Elvis Presley fan. She had every one of his albums, had seen all of his movies, most of them several times and Elvis memorabilia decorated her home. Friends and family were always on the lookout for anything "Elvis" for her. Her hobbies were crocheting, doing various crafts, jigsaw puzzles and Word Find books. She enjoyed playing Bingo and various card games. Her family and special friends looked forward to receiving some of Pauline's special cookies each Christmas. She never forgot other people's special occasions. She was always sending cards and letters and none of her family members considered their birthdays complete until they had received her phone call of best wishes. Pauline had a wonderful sense of humour and a smile for everyone. She loved jokes and was always ready with 'zingers' of her own. Throughout her life, Pauline made many, many friends and she will be lovingly missed and remembered by all. Prayers were said Friday, May 16, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. The funeral mass was held Saturday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn with Father Gerry Bauche officiating. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tribune. Pallbearers were: Jim Maas, Ken Wagner, Matthew Fletcher, Reg Zackrisson, Steven Zackrisson, Brennan Zackrisson and Edward Fletcher. Honourary pallbearers were: Dennis Zackrisson, Donald Zackrisson, Ron Carlson, John Tuchscherer, Albert Ernst and Jerome Ernst. Catherine "Margaret" Chico
On Thursday, May 8, 2008, Margaret Chico passed away at Tatagwa View Long Term Care Facility, Weyburn at the age of 92 years. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, William Chico, her parents, Stanford and Margaret Young, sisters: Marie (Stanley) Heard and Heather Young, brothers: Frank (Marie) Young, Bob Young, Stanford Young, Andrew Young and Mervin Young, granddaughter, Linda Maurice and son-in-law, Frankie Fleck. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Heather Fleck and Andrea (Peter) Maurice, grandchildren: Daryl (Belva) Fleck, Gregory (Susan) Fleck, Neal Fleck and Warren Maurice, great grandchildren: Dean (Rhea) Fleck, Bryian (Jari) Fleck, Ian (Susan) Fleck, Nathan Gunn, Angela (Eric) Page, Sarah (Scott) Malo, Nathan (Julia) Fleck, and great great granddaughter, Sadie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Catherine "Margaret" Chico was born October 19, 1915 at Stornoway District, Saskatchewan. Her mother died when she was nine years old, and her older sister, Marie and her did their best to help raise their five brothers, as their Dad worked and tried to keep all the family together. Margaret took her schooling to Grade 8 due to helping raise her brothers, but she spent most of her life educating herself through her reading, probably knowing more than those of us who had educational opportunities. The family lived in Yorkton, Regina, Meadow Lake, Medicine Hat and Owen Sound, Ont. On May 17, 1937 Margaret married William Chico in Yorkton. William was a teacher and Margaret became a homemaker, raising their family in several communities in Saskatchewan: Lemberg, Atwater, Robsart, Benson, Lampman for 22 years, and then moving to Weyburn for 13 years. During the war she would knit for the soldiers, and sent many care packages, especially for her four brothers who actively served. She was a Live time member of the U.C.W. and was one of the founding members of the United Church in Atwater, both in building the church and serving where needed. She served for many years on the Lampman Church Board and the U.C.W. and participated in the Colgate branch of the Weyburn United Church. Margaret was always willing to actively participate in events, etc. in the communities she lived in. She was involved in the building and operation of the Curling Rink in Atwater, helped organize and participated in the Prairie Lily Club in Lampman. Margaret enjoyed curling, gardening and playing softball. She did quilting and crocheting and in later years, her garden grew more lovely flowers. In her twilight years while living at Legion Towers, she was 'the soup lady' sharing her canner full of soup with whoever wanted it. Her family felt she was their mentor, their rock, the boss with their best interests at heart; you always knew where you stood with her. She was very independent, giving and forgiving. Her door was always open. She was very proud of her daughters, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their spouses, and her great great granddaughter. She will be missed by the family and all who knew her. 'We loved her'. The funeral service was held Monday, May 12, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn with Rev. Barnabas officiating. Interment followed in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Lampman. The Pallbearers were her grandsons and great grandsons: Ian Fleck, Brian Fleck, Dean Fleck, Nathan Fleck, Daryl Fleck and Greg Fleck. Eliford Laurence Mott
On Saturday, May 10, 2008, Eliford Laurence Mott of Creelman passed away at the Fillmore Health Centre at the age of 55 years. Eliford was predeceased by his parents, Don and Mary Mott and a brother, Charlie Mott. Eliford will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Karen Mott of Creelman and their children, Josh (Marcy) Mott of Bienfait, Jenny (Curtis) Von Sprecken of Estevan, and their children, Alex and Shaun Von Sprecken, Becky Schmidt of Bienfait and her children, Zach and Michael Schmidt, his sisters, Diana (Pat) Hume of Creelman and Louisa (Bob) Helgason of Elrose, sister-in-law, Jane Mott of Flin Flon, brother-in-law, Carman (Fran) Michel of Sylvan Lake, AB, sister-in-law, Lorraine (Darcy) Musk of Weyburn, father and mother-in-law, Bob and Jean Michel of Weyburn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Eliford Laurence Mott was born March 18, 1953 at Fillmore to Don and Mary Mott. He grew up in Creelman with his older brother, Charlie, older sister, Louisa and younger sister, Diana. Creelman was home for nearly all of Eliford's life. He graduated Grade 12 in 1971 from Creelman School, and received his Drafting/Survey Certificate from the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw in 1973. On April 20, 1974, Eliford married Karen Michel in Creelman. He worked for Gordon Grieg farming, worked for the Creelman Parks and Recreation where he built a miniature golf area. He lived for one year at Lanigan where he worked for the Alwinsal Potash mine as a draftsman. Then for 2 1/2 years, he and Karen lived in Regina while he worked for the Provincial Government, with the Department of Municipal Affairs. Eliford farmed for 32 years with his Dad, his uncle Ken and the Van Staveren brothers. He also worked for the Creelman rink for many winters. Eliford was always reading, for fun and to learn something new. He taught himself to build, to invest, to paint, to make the best artificial ice, to create beautiful canoes and kayaks. He loved to be on the water, paddling through rapids and camping in the wilderness. He enjoyed working with other volunteers to build houses. He drew up the plans for Creelman's new rink and had such good times helping get the rink built. He was part of the amazing success of Creelman's Dinner Theatre for 27 years. He was so good at making us all laugh. Life served on the Creelman Credit Union board for 10 years, then on the Weyburn Credit Union board for 20 years, he enjoyed this so very much. Life grew up attending the Roman Catholic Church in Fillmore, then as an adult, attended the United Church in Creelman. He served as a trustee on the United Church board for years. Whenever there was a community project, Life was there. He would quietly lead everyone and see that things were done in the best possible way. Those of us who knew him, always knew that he was the one to ask advice from because if he didn't know the answer, he would read up on the questions until he could solve the problem. He loved being part of a group and was respected by young and old. The family has heard it said "I would rather have spent one hour with you than a life time without you" and this is how they feel. Eliford was so talented in so many ways. Many people relied on his knowledge and common sense. He was a quiet leader. He never said two words if one would do, but he always said the right thing. And he was fun, his sense of humour sparkled around him. He would want to be remembered for the laughter. A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Creelman United Church, Creelman with Rev. Heather Lea officiating. Interment followed in Golden Gates Cemetery, Creelman. Delois Meyers
Delois Meyers of Midale, Sask. passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2008 in her home at the age of 75 years. Delois had a wonderful and full life. Predeceased by her mother and father, Mildred and Walfred Hedin, her husband, Ervin Meyers in 2002, sister, Bonnie in 1996 and a grandson, Dylon Piper in 2006. Delois will be lovingly remembered by her family, two children: Blake (Brenda) Meyers of White City, and Tami (Dave) Piper of Midale, grandchildren: Derek (Tanya and Teigha Carlson) Meyers, Darcy (Kristen) Meyers, Brandi (Matt) Fraser and Nathan Piper, two brothers: Danny (Myrtle) Hedin and Larry Hedin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Born and raised in Midale, Delois married life long love, Ervin Meyers in 1953. They enjoyed the farm and oil life and the raising of their family. Delois loved gardening, visiting with friends, singing in local choirs and at weddings and funerals and was a member of the ELW. She enjoyed curling and the many activities as part of the 'oil field' wives. She was first and foremost a family and home oriented person. Her family, husband and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. Even though stricken with Alzheimer's at the age of 64, Delois worked hard at making the best of her situation. She always maintained a cheerful outlook and took her difficulties in stride. She was always ready for a coffee and a visit. Delois will be remembered as a kind, loving lady and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. She maintained her poise and dignity until the end. The family wishes to offer special thanks to all who continued to enjoy her company and made her feel loved. Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from Bethleham Lutheran Church, Midale with Pastor Donna Smalley officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. Rodney John Kronberger
Rodney John Kronberger passed away peacefully with family at his bedside at the age of 59 years on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the Weyburn General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his wife Darlene (nee Luebke) of Lang, his stepson Michael Kronberger (Donna), of Kyle, and his children: Byron, Lisa, Christopher and Craig; daughter Tracy (Garry) Bedore, Weyburn and their children: Josh, Ryan, Curtis, Eric and Dillon; son Trent Kronberger (Tanya), Regina and their children: Brady, Derian and Riley; mother Katherine Kronberger, Weyburn; sister Donna (Gaylord) Lautenslager, Lang; brother-in-law Tyke Whitrow, Yellow Grass, as well as several nieces and nephews and his favorite sidekick "Tippy". Rodney was predeceased by his father, Tony Kronberger (1981); and his sister, Iris Whitrow (2005). Rodney was born April 9, 1949 and grew up in Lang and attended the old brick school. School wasn't his first choice and after grade 10 was achieved he joined his brother-in-law, Gaylord with CPR Telegraph, spent sometime in construction and then on to power construction in 1972 which later became Achen Construction where he worked for the next 30 years with the exception of one short stint in Alberta for McGregor Construction. In 1979 Rod became a journeyman lineman. In 1972 he married Darlene Luebke and resided in Lang and raised their family. Rodney worked away from home Monday to Thursday and came home to spend time with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking his daily tours or just being with family going for coffee at various places. He would play the odd baseball game or a pool game. He loved being with the grandchildren to pick on them. Everyone who knew him knew that he meant no harm; he enjoyed to laugh and joke around. Rodney, in the last four years took up gardening as a hobby, he would tinker in his greenhouse and enjoyed it so much he had two gardens to look after. In 2004, when getting a physical for his 1A licence the devastating news of lung cancer was brought forth. In June of 2004 his career ended with Achen Construction. In November, 2004 his left lung was removed, following that were 50 some radiation and three chemo treatments. In 2007 doctors completed a wedge re-section (biopsy) on the right lung. During these four years at home he decided to take up gardening, willing to help out family and to just be there. Rodney would just go and go, never slowed down and would never admit he was in pain or how he was really feeling; he cared to much for all of us to let us know. On his 58th birthday he gained a special friend named Tippy. When he took his daily drives his dog never left his side. Rodney was getting tired of fighting. He was admitted to the palliative care program in 2008 and on May 8 he was admitted into Weyburn General Hospital for pneumonia for ten days, and discharged; being admitted again May 22 with pneumonia. His fight with pain and suffering ended May 25, 2008. The funeral service was held on May 29, at the Lang Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. with interment following at Lang Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Larry Fellner, Frank Hague, Bart Moon, Don Barmby, Phil Winkler and Grant Burks. All those in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. Cali-Co Smith
On Thursday, May 8, 2008, Cali-Co Smith passed away at the age of 21 years. Cali-Co was born on November 27, 1986 to Terri Beeching and Trevor Smith. Cali-Co loved babies, horses, playing cards and driving everything from quads to heavy equipment. Her love for adventure had her traveling in every direction and trying different things which meant being away from her family and friends and missing her greatest love of all, everyone's children. Cali-Co was predeceased by her great grandparents, Ethel Doyle, Ed and Edith Augustin; grandfather, Ron Beeching. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Terri (Allan) Beeching; brothers, Denim and Dakota; father, Trevor (Lynn) Smith; step-brother and sister; grandparents, aunts, uncles, as well as numerous relatives and friends. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the many acts of kindness, prayers and sympathies extended during this time. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, at 1:00 p.m. from St. Walburg Elks Hall, St. Walburg, with Donna Hall officiating. The eulogy, written by Brenda and Brandi Neoth and will be read by Rick Rendleman, with ushers, Larry and Stephan Palsich. The Urn Bearers are her brothers, Denim and Dakota. Terry Robertson
Terry Robertson late of Weyburn, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the age of 63 years. He was predeceased by his father and mother, James and Winnifred Robertson, sister in law, Georgette Robertson and brother in law, Fred Crashley. Terry is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Loretta Robertson, Weyburn; his sons, Tim (Sharon) Robertson, Weyburn, and their children, Tyler, Cody and Erica; Ken (Lisa) Robertson, Weyburn, and their children, Jaxon and Jordyne; Jeff (Jenn) Robertson, Regina, and their children, Cody, Olivia and Drake; his brothers, David (Shirley) Robertson, Hamiota, MB, Brian Robertson, Melville; sister, Vicki Crashley, Cranbrook, BC; along with several nieces and nephews. Terry was born on October 11, 1944 in Moosomin. He received his education in Moosomin and graduated from Moosomin High School in 1962. Terry married Loretta (nee: Carefoot) on July 10, 1971. Terry retired as manager of Acklands Grainger where he was employed for 43 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Weyburn Branch #47. Terry was an avid hockey, curling and baseball fan. He was a longtime volunteer with Weyburn Minor Hockey and Weyburn Minor Ball. Terry enjoyed spending time gardening, helping out with the cattle and working on the farm, but his true passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He took time watching them participate in their sports. His grandchildren have fond memories of grandpa wearing his Santa hat at Christmas and handing out the presents. The Service of Remembrance for Terry was held Friday, May 30, at 2:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. All in attendance were honorary pallbearers. A private family interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. For family and friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Terry to the Canadian Cancer Society. Albert Leon DeRoose
Albert Leon DeRoose was born May 10, 1922 at his parents' farm located between Ceylon and Radville, SK. Albert grew up there with his older brother and four younger sisters. He started his education at Troy School and spent most of his school years as a boarder at St. Oliver's Convent in Radville. Albert joined the Armored Corps in 1942 and spent three years serving. Albert married Violet Gustafson on October 2, 1945 at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Radville. Albert worked on the family farm with his dad and then took over until his son, Ron, carried on in 1973. At that time he was hauling gravel with his tractor trailer and became quite involved in hauling grain to the Weyburn Inland Terminal. Until 1973, Albert lived on the family farm; then moved to Ceylon where he and Violet cared for her father. Albert served on the church board in Radville for 25 years. He was a charter member of the Radville Council and of the Knights of Columbus. In 1949 he helped build the new Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Radville. Albert was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion since 1946 and served several years as the president. In 1969 he became a municipal councillor for The Gap #39 and the representative to the Radville Community Board for the hospital and Marian Home, where he worked for the next 20 years or so. Albert conceived and spearheaded the drive to erect a cairn, remembering and honoring the Sisters of Saint Louis who worked diligently to provide a Catholic education to many students at St. Oliver's Convent and school. Albert passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the Regina General Hospital, Regina, at the age of 86 years. The Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, May 29, at 2:00 p.m. from the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Radville, with Fr. Francis Kurisnkal officiating. Interment took place in Ceylon Cemetery, Ceylon. Albert was predeceased by his parents, Oscar & Camilla DeRoose; wife, Violet DeRoose; son, Ron DeRoose; brother, Oliver DeRoose; sister-in-law, Elodie DeRoose and brothers-in-law, Ed Morris, Rob Magliano, Sam Stoochnow and Stan Kowalczyk. Albert will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Gloria (Joe) Simonot of Saskatoon, Nancy (Bob) Wirtz of Regina, and Donna (Roy) Cull of Bengough; grandchildren, Yvonne (Rick) Lucas, Colette Simonot, David (Angela) Simonot, Lisa (Geordie) Nicholson, Julian Simonot, Ginette (Ian Clark) Simonot, Jacqueline Simonot, Fran (David) Walker, Rob (Diane) Wirtz, Leann Clark, Candice Cull & Clint Cull, Lorelie (Geoff) DeRoose, Jessica (Barry) Apperley; several great grandchildren; special friend, Florence Fleming; four sisters, Claire Magliano, Mary (Ron) Scott, Gabe Stoochnow and Irma Kowalczyk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
