LIDGREN, Ada Caroline (nee Grill) -- We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved step-mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt on Sunday April 4, 2004 at Elmview Extendicare, Regina at 86 years young. Predeceased by her husband, Gordon Burrows in 1959; husband, Hal Lidgren in 1990; sisters, Phyllis, Lola, Verla, Iris and Elva; and brothers, Hugh, George and Roy. She is survived by her step-son, Martin (Loretta) Lidgren, Semans, SK; granddaughter, Shelley (Brad) Turk; great-granddaughters, Dana & Marlo, Saskatoon, SK; granddaughter, Sheila (Darcy) McLean, Moose Jaw, SK; step-son Roy (Anna) Lidgren, Nassau, Bahamas; granddaughter, Brenda (Clarence) Linkiewich; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Cassie & Krista of Martensville, SK; granddaughter, Kelly (Kevin) Stoski, Sherwood Park, AB; and grandson, Barrett, Calgary, AB. She is also survived by sisters, Elsie Lobb, Fay (Lyle) Leader, Freida (Paul) O’Dell, Pat Hood, Shirley (Ben) LePage, Vera Callahan, and Geraldine Grill; brother, Neil; and brothers-in-law, Syd Whitesell and Ed Nelson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ada was born April 2, 1918 in Admiral, SK and grew up in Swift Current, SK before moving to Regina. She was employed at the Regina General Hospital from 1941 until her retirement in 1980 (39 years). Cremation has occurred and a MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2004 with Reverend Alan Schooley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Westminster United Church, 3205 –13th Ave., Regina, SK, S4T 1P1 or to Eureka Fellowship Society, 1812 Arthur St., Regina, SK S4T 4W7. FRANKOWSKI, JUDY passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, March 29, 2004 at the age of 50 years. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Al; sons, Chris and Derek; parents, Merv and Mary May Buchanan; and mother-in-law, Imelda Frankowski and family. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 E on Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at the Regina Memorial Gardens. NEISZ, Vernon-- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vernon Florian on March 27, 2004 at the age of 54, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father Florian Michael in 1974. Vern is survived by his loving and devoted wife Diana of almost 30 years; daughter Leanne (his “Princess”); son Gordon (Danielle Baker) all of Regina. Vern is also survived by his mother Elsie, Regina; sisters Lorraine (Ken) Silzer, Regina; Brenda (Jim) Landry, Indian Head; mother-in-law Emily Popp, Regina; sister-in-law, Sharon Popp, Regina; as well as a very special cousin who he thought of as a brother Wayne (Diane) Ullrich, Regina. He also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and cousins. Vern was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 870 for almost 30 years and worked as a Tower Crane Operator on numerous buildings in Regina. He was also a member of the Construction and General Workers Union Local 180 for over 18 years. He enjoyed doing woodworking and giving the projects to family and friends. Vern also enjoyed the many flowers he planted each summer as well as his vegetable garden. He was always the first one to volunteer to help family with their home improvement projects such as building sheds and shingling roofs. Vern was also very proud of his children and their many accomplishments and he will be very deeply missed by all his family, especially his wife and children. He has left a huge void in our lives. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Apostolic Church, 808 Assiniboine Ave. E on Friday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ernie Metz officiating with burial of cremated remains to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, S4T 1A5. A very special thank-you to Drs. Yaqoob, Joanne McLeod, and Klein and all the nursing staff on the Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion during Vern’s long stay, as well as a heartfelt thank-you to Connie with Palliative Home Care for all her loving care for him. HOWIE – on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 Mrs. Helen Emma Howie (nee Demyen), late of Regina, passed away with her family at her side, at the age of 76 years. Helen was born on May 12, 1927 in the Hazel Valley District of Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her father, Andrew Demyen; mother, Esther Demyen; son, Jim Howie; grandson, DJ Kotzer; husband, Ray Howie; brother, Lorence; sister-in-law, Thelma Demyen; and brothers-in-law, Max Laughington and Fred Hewalo. Helen is survived by her children, Bev (Jim) Birch, Harvey (Karen) Howie, Rhonda Howie all of Regina, SK, and Cindy (Howard) Carlston of Montmarte, SK. She is also survived by her sisters, Violet Laughington of Ingersol, ON, Lillian Hewalo of Regina, SK, and Betty (Allan) Bobie of Calgary, AB; and brothers, Andy Demyen of Arcola, SK, Elmer (Rynalda) Demyen of Regina, SK, Ernie (Marion) Demyen and Leslie Demyen of Edmonton, AB; as well as fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. VISITATIONS for family and friends will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Sunday, March 28, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. HODGSON - FRASER, GORDON With sorrow our family announces the passing of Fraser Hodgson on March 22, 2004 in the Pasqua Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his family. Fraser was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Violet Hodgson, his first wife of 52 years, Nettie Hodgson (Halifax), and Ed, Bill, James and Rose( Halifax). Fraser leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his wife Darlene Hodgson (Weinbender), his children Ron (Shirley) Hodgson, Janet (Ken) Cooke, Susan (Steve Dickie) Girard; his grandchildren Terry (Heather) Hodgson, Derek (Anita) Hodgson, Scott (Andrea) Tresek, Susan Shaw, Michael Cooke, Jackie Cooke, Greg Girard, Jillian Girard and 8 great-grandchildren. Fraser is also survived by Darlene's family Jim (Daylene) Weinbender, Lynn (Les) Smith and their children. His brother Harold (Frances) Hodgson and sisters Hazel (George) Bourne, Lucille Knudsen, brother and sisters-in-law Jack, Nellie and Audrey Halifax and their families, will miss Fraser. Dad served in WW2 with the Regina Rifles and continued, until his passing, to be an active and proud member of the Regiment. Dad was a long time employee of Imperial Oil Ltd. where he made many life long friends. He was a dedicated volunteer for both Regina and Saskatoon Speed Skating Clubs where he worked tirelessly for many years. Dad also served on the steering committee and was a charter member of Sask Sport. As an avid Rider fan, golfer and bridge player he will be missed by many. Our Dad was a wonderful, caring, family man who loved life, worked hard and laughed often. We will cherish his memory forever. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will take place at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 E., on Friday, March 26, 2004 at 2:00 P.M.. HOWES, KEVIN ALLAN, born May 23, 1967 passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 20, 2004 in Regina. Left to cherish Kevin’s memory is his companion, Susan Irene Chabot; his mother, Lucy Howes of Battleford; his grandmother, Catherine Karpan of Battleford; and sisters, Brenda (Paul) Lemire and their children, Charles, Viviane, Catherine of Saskatoon and Patricia Howes of Calgary; as well as numerous members of his extended family, Bert Howes of North Battleford and Brittany Cherweniuk of Edmonton. Kevin was predeceased in 1999 by his beloved grandfather, Louis Karpan. The service for Kevin Allan Howes will take place on Saturday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilson & Zehner Funeral Chapel in North Battleford with Rev. Joyce Sali officiating.
