As a young boy, Arnold developed a strong work ethic, by learning to help with the daily chores on the farm. His education took place in a one-room school house at Capeland, SK. Music was a big part of Arnold’s heritage. This included playing mandolin and harmonica with the “Braun Family” and at get-togethers with family and friends. Singing in male quartets, choirs, and at family gatherings was a particular love of his. Even camping trips included singing and playing instruments around the campfire. Arnold accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age and committed himself to a life of service to God. He was baptized at age 18. It was while attending the Herbert Bible School, that he met Hulda Redekop, who would become the love of his life. Arnold and Hulda were married on August 23, 1953, in Main Centre, SK. They soon moved to Swift Current where he formed his own construction company. He was especially proud when his son, Kerry, partnered with him in Braun Construction. They enjoyed building many custom-built homes together in Swift Current and area. Arnold was very particular that any job he did was well done. He had a great zest for life and provided wise counsel. The one thing that was most important to him was his faith in God. Arnold lived out his faith daily as a man of integrity in the business community, among neighbors and friends. His conscience was tender about pleasing God and being right with people. He faithfully served on various church and conference committees. He also was a faithful prayer warrior. He was very thankful to God that each member of his family had made their own personal commitment to Christ. The Lord blessed Arnold and Hulda with 53 happy years together. I was born on the 26th of November, 1910 to Diedrich and Maria Schulz in the Schoental district a few miles NE of Herbert. When I was 5 years old my parents bought a farm and built a house and moved to the Greenfarm district. I was brought up in a Christian home and remember a happy childhood. My hobbies include gardening, growing flowers, cooking and baking, crocheting, keeping a diary and collecting poems and songs. Our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are very close to my heart, we love them all and prayed for them.
