DAURIE, EVELYN MARY (DEAN). After a long battle with cancer, we grieve the loss of our mother, sister and aunt, Evelyn Mary Daurie on Friday, May 4, 2001. Evelyn, formerly of Regina, SK, passed away at the Portage District General Hospital, Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by her beloved husband William; her parents Earl and Elizabeth Dean; brothers: Donald and Douglas Dean and sister Ruth Moore. Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her son George (Sandra) Daurie of Calgary, AB; daughter Donna (John) Nielson of Portage la Prairie, MB; grandchildren: Darren Daurie, Jackie Daurie and Becky Nielsen and great-granddaughter Kayla Daurie; four sisters: Margaret Bayhi of Los Angeles, CA, Kay Webster of Regina, SK, Dorothy (Harold) Bean of Rouleau, SK and Helen Kemmerer of Los Angeles, CA, brother Gordon Dean of Rouleau, SK along with many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was born April 10, 1923 in Rouleau, SK. As an adult she worked in Moose Jaw until she married William Daurie in 1944. They made their home in Regina where she lived until this last March. Evelyn was a very loving and kind person with a good sense of humor. Her home and family were important to her and she had the gift of always making you feel welcome. Evelyn and William enjoyed their many camping trips together throughout Canada and the U.S., visiting with a great variety of people. At home, Evelyn found much pleasure in tending her garden, doing needle work, playing cards and other games, finding bargains at garage sales and shopping-especially for shoes. Evelyn attended the Zion United Church and enjoyed times at the St. Michael's Seniors Center, both in Regina. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, on Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at 1:30pm. with Rev. Alex Taylor officiating. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to a charity of your choice.
