CURTAIN - Doreen (nee Apps) passed away in Penticton, B.C. November 10, 2003. Doreen was born and raised in Regina, attending Benson Public School and Scott Collegiate. Doreen was employed at DoJacks Music Store as a Piano Accordion Teacher and later worked for GMAC. Doreen is survived by her husband Elmer, children Maureen (Terry) Breitkreuz, Randy (Cindy), Bill (Elaine). Brothers Harry (Frieda) Regina, George (Deborah) Calgary.

FLUTER, CHRIS - Passed away peacefully at the age of 70 years, at the Regina General Hospital on Tuesday, November 18, 2003. He is predeceased by his parents John and Elena, brothers Nick, Eli, Sam, Dan, George, Bill and sister Flora; brother-in-law Stan; nephews Sam and Greg and niece Shirley. Chris is survived by his brothers Peter (Darlene), Steve (Lucy), John (Bev) and sisters Margaret (John) Hoce, Mary (John) Bernaski, Rose (Grant) Gordon, Eva Juchacz, Georgina (Dave) Fluter and numerous nieces and nephews. Chris retired from Modern Radiator Service after 40 years of service. In his earlier years he loved to fish, hunt and do wood crafting. Memorial Service will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Darold Sauer, officiating. Flowers are most gratefully declined, however, friends so wishing may make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3. Arrangements are entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (Phone 789-8850).

MCDAID - Jean Wilson. On Tuesday, November 18, 2003 Mrs. Jean Wilson McDaid of Edmonton formerly of Regina Beach passed away at the age of 89 years. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Kathleen (Gordon) McLeod, Lynne (Ron) Boucher; six grandchildren, John, Graham, Kristan, Andrew, Thomas, Marylynne, seven great grandchildren, Sydney, Julia, Amelia, Edie, Nellie, Keegan, Kelly. Jean was predeceased by her husband, John McCullough McDaid in 1968; brother, Alexander Muirhead; sister, Ada Muirhead. Jean had a long and good life. She was loved and respected and enjoyed her years of teaching and community involvement. At Jean's request cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will take place in Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, Saskatchewan at a later date. In lieu of floral tributes donations may be made to the Mel Miller Hospice, Edmonton General Hospital, Caritas Hospital Foundation, 11111 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5K 0L4 or a charity of one's choice. MEGILL - Jean Tudhope Dickson Megill died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at Parkside Extendicare, Regina, Saskatchewan. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Megill, her parents Alexander (Sandy) and Mary Dickson, and her sisters Anne Jones and Dorothy Pattimore. She is survived by her two sons and five grandchildren: Allan Megill (Rita Felski) of Charlottesville, Virginia, John (Judy) Megill of Kuwait City, Kuwait, Jason Megill of Brooklyn, New York, Jessica Megill of San Diego, California, Jonathan Megill of Lexington, Kentucky, Jennifer Megill of Houston, Texas, Maria Megill Felski of Charlottesville, Virginia. Jean was born August 26, 1912 and lived her entire life in Saskatchewan. She grew up on her parent's farm and then became a public school teacher. She married Ralph Megill in 1941 and they shared life with each other for 51 years of marriage. As a widow, Jean became an independent woman and lived life to the fullest until her health required her to become a resident of Parkside Extendicare in 2000. Jean and Ralph were proud to be members of the United Church. They valued education and always were interested in learning new things. Through travel they enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people. Jean always said the purpose of her life was to make the world a better place in which to live. Over the years Jean had many titles including daughter, sister, teacher, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, widow and friend. She will be missed by all. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Parkside Extendicare for their loving care and for making the last years of her life comfortable and enjoyable. A Memorial Service will be held at Wesley United Church on Monday, November 24, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Haas officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Parkside Extendicare, South Wing, 4540 Rae Street, Regina, Sask S4S 3B4 and/ or Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale Street, Regina, Sask S4S 4E3. GEORGE ADDY ARMITAGE - Was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on September 23, 1922 to Addy and Emily Armitage. The family lived on Skeena Street near the Moose Jaw river until he was around thirteen. He had great memories of swimming all summer and playing hockey all winter on the frozen ice. George competed provincially in swimming and diving. From those years he donated countless hours coaching these talents to other young people. As many will know he enjoyed golfing and curling as well. He was very active in every sport. George started work as a ""call boy"" for C.P. Railway and then apprenticed in boiler making for five years. During this time he served three years in the Navy on the destroyer HMCS ""Saskatchewan"". It ran from St. John, Nfld. to Londonderry, Ireland. They were also in action in the English Channel. From there he was stationed at HMCS Cornwallis, N.S. where he was trained as a physical instructor. George returned home after the War, fell in love and married Hazel MacDonald on September 13, 1947. They took advantage of their C.P.R. pass, made many trips to Vancouver and Vermont. He left the C.P.R. in 1956 and worked as a welder at P.F.R.A. until 1982 when he retired at 60. George passed away at Pioneer Lodge on Monday, November 24, 2003. He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel, daughter Patricia of Barrie, Ontario and son, Doug (Maureen) of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Stephen Rockall (Amanda Collins) of Angus, Ontario, Angela Rockall of Christina Lake, B.C., Jason Rockall of Regina, Jodi Ironchild of Barrie, Ont., Jay Armitage of Moose Jaw and Carrie Armitage attending University of Mary in Bismark, N.D. George was predeceased by his mother, Emily and father, Addy, his only sister, Bernice, mother-in-law, Margaret MacDonald, father-in-law, Art MacDonald, brother-in-law and Jim (Bud) MacDonald. A Celebration of George's Life will be held at Minto United Church on Friday, November 28, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted at the Church. Memorialization will take place privately at Sunset Cemetery at a later time. Memorials to Pioneers Lodge, 1000 Albert Street, Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2 or to the Alzheimer Association, #301-2550-12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1 would be appreciated. DERRY - On November 22, 2003 Theresa ""Terry"" Derry, late of Parkside Extendicare was called home at the age of 69 years. Predeceased by her mother Rosie Gaveronski and her brother Irvin; Terry is survived by her sons, Ron (Edith) and Rod (Jeanelle) of Calgary, AB; daughter, Darlene Derry of Vancouver, Shelley (Tom) Patterson of Regina; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Hilda (Peter) Senga of Lanigan, SK; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Terry will be remembered for her loving strength and constant willingness to always help and support others. She will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Parkside Extendicare for the care and kindness shown to her. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 27, 2003 at St. Charles R.C. Church, 1171 Broder St. Regina, with Rev. Patrick McCoy, celebrant. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
