Robert (Bob) Lyster passed away quietly at Providence Place with his family by his side, November 2, 2002, at the age of 75. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret of 53 years; daughters, Barb (Dennis) Darroch, Lori (Mac) Anderson; grandchildren Jana (Danny) Bollinger of Saskatoon; Mark Darroch of Moose Jaw, Christa Anderson of Okotoks, AB.; and Sarah Anderson of Moose Jaw; great grandson, Brayden Bollinger; sister Ruth Small of Kamloops, B.C.; brother, Pat (Rilla) Lyster of Rocky Mountain House, AB.; sisters-in-law Jean Lyster of Cabri, SK. and Eileen Lyster of Swift Current, SK.; special brother-in-law, Wrally Konopaki of Moose Jaw; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as special lake friends, Gerry and Chris Van Strien and Thelma Elliott. Bob dearly loved his family and close friends who will cherish the good times they shared with him at the lake. Bob had an exceptional gift and great passion for all animals. He enjoyed feeding the deer at the lake and caring for his two cats. A private family service will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. GREG BIDEN
It is with deep sadness we announce that GREGORY SPENCER BIDEN of Qualicum Beach, B.C. died suddenly at Red Deer Hospital, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, March 18th, 2001 at the age of 51 years. Greg grew up in Moose Jaw. Friends will remember him full of laughter and fun. Some will remember Greg for his ability to climb above the negative to enjoy life. They will understand his journey towards becoming a good person. His three children know him as their dear daddy who loved them with all his soul. Greg owned an acreage in B.C. and became an avid gardener. He worked as a landscaper and a painter in the region. He recently moved to Red Deer to work for a friend in the construction industry. He was an excellent salesman who could make a stranger feel like a friend. Greg loved music and would ask friends to play a song when thinking of him. Greg was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie in 1979. He is survived by his loving daughters, Melissa Biden (Vancouver, B.C.), Whitney and Rhiannon Biden (Qualicum Beach, B.C.), his former wife, Debbie Steininger (Qualicum Beach), his father, Mansell Biden (Moose Jaw), his sisters and brother; Gwelda Hales, (Ken) (Regina), Audrey and friend (Gary) (Victoria), Grant (Shelley) Biden (Moose Jaw), and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A Memorial Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Saturday, April 7th, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined, memorials to a charity of choice would be gratefully accepted.
SHAUNA BELL
SHAUNA LEE BELL (Nee Timoruski) of Saskatoon, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on December 4, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. Shauna was born in Moose Jaw, August 27, 1964 and received her education there. She later moved to Saskatoon. Shauna enjoyed her years playing fastball, and had a deep affection for her dogs. Her later interests were working in her yard with her flowers and socializing with her many friends. Shauna was a wonderful friend to all who knew her. Her fun-loving nature and sense of humor touched the hearts of many. Predeceased by her grandparents, Shauna is survived by her husband, Trent, her parents, Fred and Joanne, brothers, Garth (Sheila) and Terry (Tammy), sisters-in-law: Karen (Andy), Gail (Dale) and Sherri (Ray), nieces and nephews, Adam, Morgan, Abby, Jesse, Chelsea, Tanner and Thomas Timoruski; Shawna, Garrett and Cody Riendeau, Sarah-Jo, Mitchell and Troy Annesley. Following cremation, a private family service will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 0E1 would be appreciated by the family. BILL 'SULLY' SULLIVAN
WILLIAM A. (BILL) “SULLY” SULLIVAN of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 18th, 2001 at the age of 49 years. He was employed with Canada Post for 25 years and was currently in a position of Supervisor. Bill will be missed by his fellow workers. He enjoyed his many trips to various countries of warmer climate and his ‘condo door’ was always open to any friend who wanted to come along. Predeceased by his father, James in 1979, Bill is survived by his mother, Virginia, his brother, Jim (Maureen) and his niece, Jennifer and his nephew, John - all of Moose Jaw, who were like his own children. He is also survived by Troy and Michelle Gall of Brooks, Alberta and their children, Patrick and Jarod. Bill will be missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. Following cremation, A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, February 22nd, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Dean Ohochinsky will officiate. Family memorialization will take place privately at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening, 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorials to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231-8th St. E., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7H 0S5 would be appreciated.
J. BERT HAGAN
JOHN HERBERT (BERT) HAGAN, born November 11, 1913, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2002. Bert was raised in Mazenod, Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Army and served from 1942 to 1945 in Dieppe, France were he received an injury. Bert married Louise Thomson June 21, 1955 in St. Andrew’s United Church, Moose Jaw. He worked at 15 Wing for twenty-six years and upon retirement, Bert and Louise enjoyed much travel together. They had a cabin at Buffalo Pound Lake for many years where they enjoyed many happy times. He was an active member of the Army & Navy Vets, receiving his thirty year pin just this past year. He was an active member of Seniors Bowling on South Hill for many years. Bert loved to dance and enjoyed a good rousing game of cards. The couple moved from Iroquois Street to Capilano Court then Bert moved to Extendicare where he passed away surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his Mother and Dad, sister, Isabel, brother, Albert, brother-in-law, George Zado, nephew, Dennis, step-son, Ken Thomson and a step-daughter, Lillian Honeysett. Bert is survived by wife, Louise, step-daughter, Winnie (Jack) Markewich of Moose Jaw, step-daughter, Evelyn (Ted) Cartlidge of Nelson, B.C. and grandchildren; brothers: Rueben (Olga) of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Sylvester (Helen) of Swift Current, Joseph (Adel) of Trenton, Ontario; sister, Tena Zado of Moose Jaw, sister-in-law, Rita Hagan of Moose Jaw as well as nieces and nephews. Following cremation, A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Peter J. Calhoun will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. BERNICE GREEN
MRS. BERNICE GREEN (nee Robertson) of Moose Jaw, passed away Monday, December 9, 2002. Bernice was born and raised in Moose Jaw. During WWII she was a WREN stationed in Halifax. She was married to her husband Gordon for 53 years. Bernice is survived by her husband, Gordon, son, Bill (Paula) and grandchildren: Jesse (Charmane), Tova and Attalee and a brother, Oke (Bert) Robertson. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Bernard (Marg) Robertson. Bernice was an active member of St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church, Legion member, Magic Harmony, Eastern Star and Wa-Wa Ladies. An avid camper, she enjoyed most of Saskatchewan’s Regional Parks, especially Craik. A wife, mother and grandmother who loved to sing, lead skits, writing poetry and generally having fun. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted at the chapel by Roscoe Steele, Moose Jaw Branch #59. CLAIR JACKSON
MR. CLAIR L. JACKSON of Moose Jaw, passed away on Wednesday, February 14th, 2001 at the age of 94 years. Born in Itasca, Wisconsin on April 16th, 1906, he came to Canada in 1909 with his parents and settled in the Gravelbourg district where they farmed for many years. Clair helped with the farming until 1933 when he started out on his own. He married Leonida Nadeau in St. Oliver's Church in Palmer on October 10th, 1933 and the couple farmed in the Palmer, Gravelbourg and Coderre districts before retiring to Moose Jaw in 1964. Clair enjoyed traveling, farming, sports of all kinds; especially baseball, curling, playing cards, even square and round dancing which he and Leonida enjoyed for over 20 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Mary and one infant brother, two sisters, Faye Matthews and Rachael Ward and three brothers-in-law. Clair is survived by his wife, Leonida of 67 years of Moose Jaw, four sisters: Clella Hamilton, Ruth and Zella Jackson and Fern (John) Marteniuc, two sisters-in-law, Aurise LaRochelle and Mariette Poirier as well as many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday, February 17th, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 - 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Reverend Father David Cottingham C.Ss.R. will preside. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held Friday evening, 7:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St. E. Memorials for Providence Place, 100-2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 1B8 would be appreciated.
