FRED ANSELL

Mr. Frederick Vincent Harold Ansell passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Providence Place. Fred was predeceased by his wife, Velma of 62 years in December of 1996. Fred will be remembered by his daughter Beverley (Wally) and his two sons Ken (Beryl) and Dave (Dot). He was a caring granddad to Janice (Greg), Jamie, Ken (Tracie), Jennifer (Dave), Todd (Kathy), Rod, Mac, and Dana and a great-granddad to Gabriel, Emilie, Austin, Jonah, and Lucas. He touched may lives and his passing will also be deeply felt by numerous other relatives, friends and neighbors. Fred was born in England in 1909. He came to Moose Jaw with his parents, four sisters and one brother. He worked at British American Oil for thirty-seven years and the Saskatchewan Motor Club after retirement. In Fred’s leisure time, he enjoyed bike riding, bowling and fishing. Until the age of eighty-seven, Fred enjoyed pedal biking seven miles a day. He took great pride in his garden and spent many hours in his greenhouse. The family would like to thank Dr. Gass, Dr. Thorpe, and all the staff at Providence Place for giving Fred such excellent care. A special thank you to Carol Gregor for her kindness. In keeping with the wishes of our father and the family, there will be no funeral. Following cremation, a private family service will take place at a later date.

BONNIE MARQUETTE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Christine Marquette on Friday, April 19, 2002 at 5:50 pm at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, following an intense battle with cancer. Bonnie was born November 25, 1943 in Winnipeg and lived her life in Portage la Prairie, Arborg, and Teulon, Man., and Moose Jaw, Sask. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Ingi Johannesson. She will be sadly missed by children: Bobbie (Brad) Reeves; Chris (Diane) Marquette; and Cheryl (Jeff) Friesen. Honorary Pallbearers are grandchildren: Courtney Borgford (Jason Hammer), Corrine Borgford, Christopher Reeves, Mitchell Marquette, Jared Marquette, Abby Friesen, and Piersen Marquette. Bonnie loved working as a full-time payroll clerk at IMC Kalium for the past six years and has held many other office and bank positions over the years. Mom will always be remembered for her love of her children and grandchildren, reading books, and tending her most beautiful flower garden. Her generous and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her and will be cherished as her most memorable gift. Following Cremation, a Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford Street E., S6H 0E1, would be appreciated. In living memory of Bonnie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

WILF STEINHAUER

Wilf passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, May 6th, 2001 at the age of 53 years. He was born October 8th, 1947 in Moose Jaw and has resided here his entire life except for four years while in University. Wilf graduated from Riverview Collegiate and took his Psychiatric Nurses Training at Valley View Centre where had been employed there for the past thirty-one years. He was very active in the Union and it was a passion of his until his passing. He was predeceased by his father, Peter; brothers: Edgar and Arnold and twins, Donna and Donald. Wilf is survived and sadly missed by his wife, Joan and daughters, Cheryl and Kara of Moose Jaw, his mother, Frieda, his brother, Randy (Mona-Maria Krumenacker) of Regina; sisters: Martha (Gerald) Johnson, Edna (Roy) Delbeck of Moose Jaw, Evy (Joe) Lang of Saskatoon, Dorothy (Wilfred) Longmore of Regina and sisters-in-law: Florence and Irene as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St. W., Moose Jaw on Thursday, May 10th, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Doug Shepherd will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sunset Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 9th from 7-9 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231 – 8th St. E., Saskatoon, Sask., S7H 0S5. In living memory of Wilfred Harold Steinhauer, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

WILLIAM (BILL) HOLT
It is with great sadness that the Holt family announces the passing of William Wallace Owen Holt on Friday, November 23, 2001. William was born on November 24, 1917. William served his country in World War II. For most of his service he was stationed overseas. Bill was employed with Co-op Dairies for many years. He lived his life to the fullest and carried an enormous amount of love. He will be deeply missed by his family and loved ones and eternally live on in every one of our hearts. Bill is survived by his loving wife: Jean, and will be deeply remembered by his seven children: Gwen, Bob, Barb, Jerry, Keith, Wanda and Doug. Father has very loving daughter- in- laws, a son in- law and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A very very special friend: Sid Chhokar. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Wednesday November 28, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Doug Shepherd Padre of the Royal Canadian Legion will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Moose Jaw Branch #59. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In living memory of William, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GERALD BLANCHARD

Gerald Joseph Blanchard of Moose Jaw, passed away in the Regina General Hospital, Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the age of 76 years. Born in Moose Jaw in 1925, he received part of his education in Quebec. Jerry has resided in this area most of his life. Jerry joined the Royal 22nd Regiment in 1941 and served in North Africa. He was discharged in 1943 after completing one tour of duty. Jerry will be remembered for 34 years in farm machinery and direct sales. He served as councillor for 3 years with the R.M. of Terrell (Spring Valley). Jerry also served as President of the South Saskatchewan Wildlife Association and was an original member of the Lindale School Board representing Capital School. He was also a long time member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Moose Jaw, Sask. Predeceased by his parents, two brothers: Jim and Frank, Grand-daughter: Leanne. He is survived by his wife Terry, three sons: Garry (Veronica), Russell (Myrna), David (Dianna) all of Moose Jaw. Four daughters: Darlene Blanchard-Moose Jaw, Pauline (Raymond) Lavallee, Childs Lake, Manitoba, Barb (Allen) Pilsner-Moose Jaw, and Eunice (Don) Purington-Moose Jaw, 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, one sister: Edna (Earl) Boan-Moose Jaw, a brother: George (Nan)- Beaver Falls, B.C. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064-3rd Ave.N.W., Moose Jaw, Sask., Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Father David Cottingham will preside. Interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will take place Monday evening, April 1, 2002, 7-8p.m.at the W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Memorials to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 Third Avenue N., Saskatoon, Sask. S7K 9Z9 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104- 2301 Avenue C. North, Saskatoon, Sask. S7L 5Z5 would be appreciated. In living memory of Jerry, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

LEO LEIMAN

MR. LEO LEIMAN of the Ernfold district, passed away at his farm home on Friday, August 24, 2001 at the age of 78 years. Funeral Services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Flowing Well, Saskatchewan on Saturday, September 1, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Marilyn Stobbs will officiate. Interment will follow at the Flowing Well Church Yard Cemetery. Memorials to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. In living memory of Leo, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home.

WILLIAM McDERMIT

Mr. William McDermit of Moose Jaw, passed away on February 23, 2001 at the age of 79 years. Bill was born in Moose Jaw March 19, 1921. He was raised near Ormiston and farmed there. Bill married Dorothy Thorsness May 1, 1948 They have five children, Sharon, Sandra, Gordon, Garry, and Don. Bill and Dorothy retired and moved to Moose Jaw in 1980. Bill was very fond of his eleven grandchildren, Sarah, Erik, and Laura Brown of Anacortes, Wash.; Jeryd, Austin, Leanne and Heather of Ormiston; Shelli, Heidi, Shauna, and Ryan of Calgary. Bill’s health failed in 1993. He was well cared for in the Extendicare facility, where he passed away peacefully. Bill was loved and appreciated by many and will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his parents, Barbara and John; two brothers: John and Robert; two sisters: Margaret Little and Barbara Halbert. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy; daughters: Sharon (Bart) Brown of Anacortes, WA.; Sandra of Moose Jaw; sons: Gordon (Karen) of Ormiston; Garry (Cheryl) of Calgary; and Don of Vancouver; his grandchildren; also sister, Eleanor Stamn of Sidney, B.C.; and brother, Don (Betty) of Rimbey, Alta.; and many friends. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Tuesday February 27, 2001 at 10:00 am. Dale Shultz and Lloyd Kneesch will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.

RENA McKENZIE

MRS. RENA DORTHEA McKENZIE (nee Clarkson), late of Moose Jaw passed away at the age of 66 years in the Regina Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, February 10th, 2001. Born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, she grew up and lived in Imperial, Saskatchewan until 1966 when she moved to Moose Jaw with her loving husband, Ron and five children. She entered nursing in 1967 and worked at Valley View Center until 1994. Rena loved sewing, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with her family. Her heart and door was always open to everyone she befriended. She will be loving missed by her husband of 48 years, Ronald McKenzie and children, Melvin, Heather, Bonnie, Sharon (Todd Marshall) and Ronalea, her grandchildren, Dan (Lindsay), Jacquie (Chad), Brian, Brandi and Stephanie and great-grandson, Logan, her brother, Lynn Clarkson (Margaret Ann) and numerous nieces and nephews and her oldest and dearest friends, Harvey and Cathy Smith. She has joined her mother and father, Francis and Otto Clarkson, her sisters, Dora Douglas and Anne Baht, and brother, Danny Clarkson. Friends so wishing are invited to pay their respects Tuesday, February 13th, 2001, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 13th at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Reverend Ian Payne will officiate. Cremation will follow and private family memorialization will take place at a later date at the Aneroid Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rena’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1061, Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 4P8.
