STANLEY W. FOWLER

STANLEY WYMOND FOWLER passed away peacefully on March 8, 2008 with family by his side at Providence Place, Moose Jaw. Stan was born August 21, 1924 and raised on a farm at Buffalo Pound Lake. He was active in his younger years playing hockey, curling, darts, fastball, and loved swimming. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force overseas for a number of years. He married Phylliss Todd a war bride, in England and upon returning to Moose Jaw had three children; Bob, Janice and Barb. Later Stan married Viola Newberry and they had two children; Cathy and Mike. Stan drove gravel trucks for Skingles, later working for Redi-Mix. In 1965 they moved to White Bear where he operated Pioneer Elevator until 1974. They returned to Moose Jaw where Stan was employed at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed his retirement driving around the countryside until moving into Providence Place in 1999. Predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Eva Fowler, loving wife Viola Fowler (Newberry), son Robert “Bob” Fowler, sister Erma Skingle, son-in-law Ron Macpherson. Stan is survived by his children: Janice (Ron) Copeman; Barb (Bill) Moore; Cathy (Keith) Steinhauer, and Mike Fowler; one brother Ken (Evelyn) Fowler, grandchildren: Shelly, Stephanie, Brenda and James; Ian and Jan-Erin; Julie and Todd; Brandi, Jay and Levi; and Apperley, seventeen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with the family’s request, a private service will be held with interment at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be forwarded to Providence Place Foundation, 100 – 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8. In living memory of Stanley, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

PATRICIA GAMBLE (FORBES)

Patricia Ann (Forbes) Gamble of Innisfail, AB and formerly of Mortlach, SK. Passed away September 2, 2010 at Red Deer. Patti was born December 3, 1945 to Clarence and Alice Forbes of Mortlach. She grew up in Mortlach and attended school there. In 1966 she married Ray Lougheed. They had two children and resided in Brownlee until Ray’s sudden passing in 1970. Patti and her children then moved to Moose Jaw where Patti took a business course at SIAST. Patti and her family then moved to Innisfail in 1976. In 1981 she married Dave Gamble. After living in Swan Hills and Peace River, Dave and Patti moved back to Innisfail where they have resided until her passing. Predeceased by her parents, and first husband, Ray, Patti is survived by her husband, Dave Gamble, daughter Shauna (Rob), and grandchildren Chase, Quinn and Sage of Innisfail; son Jason (Janice), and grandchildren Kai, Emiley and Kohl of Peace River; brothers Bernie (Vonnie) Forbes, and Larry (Marilyn) Forbes of Mortlach; Ray’s mother Thelma Lougheed, and his sisters Fern (Maurice), Brenda (Brian), and brother Bruce (Claudette); also special friend Bonnie (Bob) Drake of Mortlach; and numerous nieces and nephews. Patti was a member of Innisfail Legion. She loved life and spending time with family and friends. She had a passion for acquiring nice things and was born to shop! She always had a smile to share and a laugh that warmed your heart. She will be missed by all who knew her. A Graveside Service will be held in Innisfail, AB on Thursday September 9, 2010. In living memory of Patti, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

HAZEL RUTH BAILEY

HAZEL RUTH BAILEY aged 93, of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina on November 6, 2010 following a brief struggle with cancer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Clifford Lorence Bailey on February 18, 2007. Hazel is survived by her nephew, Ken Cowley of Kipling SK and her niece Diane Stinson of Saanichton, BC. Special Thanks to Doreen, Stan & Murray Crandon for their attentive devotion to Hazel and to all the caring staff of St .Anthony's Unit at Providence Place, Moose Jaw for making Hazel a part of their family over the past year. At Hazel's request there will be no funeral service. The interment of Hazel's and Clifford's remains will take place at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw on Friday November 12, 2010 at 1:30 pm. Those wishing to attend, may meet at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Hazel, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

WILMA NICHOLSON

Wilma Nicholson of Moose Jaw, formerly of Mossbank passed away on February 8, 2010 at the age of 96 years. Wilma is predeceased by her husband Doug; brother, Milo Herom; sisters, Alice Pierpont, Buena Reynolds, and Inez Balfour. Wilma will be sadly missed by her son Barry (Lee) Nicholson of Ottawa; daughter Sandra (Ian) Johnston of Burnaby, grandchildren Leanne (Jeff) Greenberg, Angela (Jim) Hallarn, Sarah (Brian) Ast, Lisa (Matthew) Brine, Katherine (Darryl) Murphy, and great grandchildren Abigail and Elizabeth Greenberg, and Nick and Julia Hallarn, and Emmalee and Ethan Ast. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In living memory of Wilma, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

WILLIAM FREDERICK "FRED" CAMPBELL

William Frederick “Fred” Campbell of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on September 4, 2010 at the age of 86 years. He was born in Vantage, Saskatchewan on February 20, 1924 to Nelson and Lilian Campbell. Fred met and married his beloved wife Evelyn in 1951, and they raised their family in Moose Jaw. Fred was employed for forty years at Cushing Millwork, holding various supervisory positions including superintendent. An avid amateur radio operator for many years, he enjoyed being a member of the local “ham” radio club, where he made many long-time friends. Fred was recognized for twenty years of volunteer service for his contributions to the radio exhibit at the local Western Development Museum. He also contributed his expertise in electronics and woodworking to Zion United Church, running the sound system and helping wherever needed in the church. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby until he was well into his eighties. He will be remembered by his family as a man of great character - kind, loving, honest, generous, gentle, patient, hard-working and dependable. Fred was predeceased by his parents Lilian and Nelson, his wife Evelyn, his brother Ron Campbell, his sister Jean Cropp and her husband Harry, his brother-in-law Earl Purdy, and his grandson Brian Moats. He is survived by his son Ralph Miller (Paulette); his daughters, Brenda Moats (Murray) and Shelley Phillips (Brian); grandchildren DeeDee Miller (Bruce Hystad), Sheelah Richards (Steve Smith), Jaimie Atkins (Daniel), Ken Moats, Kristen Moats, Crystal Gray (Jordan), Jonathan Phillips, and seven great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Hazel Purdy. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:30 pm at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, with Pastor Allan Buchanan officiating. The family wishes to extend warm thanks to the staff of Mulberry Estates and Extendicare, as well as Dr. B. Van Heerden, for their kind and considerate care of Fred. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, would be appreciated by the family. In living memory of Fred, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MILDRED CAMBRIDGE

Mrs. Mildred Cambridge, age 93, of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2011. Predeceased by her parents, husbands Eric William Smith and Garth Cambridge, and five brothers, she is survived by her children: Harold (Jean) Smith – Sarnia, ON, Betty (Bill) Morell – Chatham, ON, Nancy Smith - Moose Jaw; eleven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel, 2 Wintergreen Dr., on Monday April 18, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Major Don Law will officiate. Memorialization will take place in Ontario at a later date. Memorials to the Salvation Army, would be appreciated. In living memory of Mildred, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

CHARLOTTE MARQUIS

CHARLOTTE SOPHIA MARQUIS of Chaplin, Sask. passed away on June 2, 2010 at the age of 94. Charlotte was born on March 16, 1916 in Hoople, North Dakota. Babies, gardening and horses were some of the blessings in her life. Besides raising her six children, she welcomed many foster children into her home. Her family was her world. She was predeceased by her oldest daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Cliff McNabb, oldest son Alan Walls, step daughter Lois Marquis and daughter-in-law Lyn Walls. She leaves to mourn her loss: husband Clarence, daughters Janet (Tony) Schultz of Black Diamond, AB, and Cheryl Willier of Port Alberni, BC; sons Darryl (Vivian) Walls of Beijing, China, Glen Walls of Port Alberni, BC, step sons John and Wayne Marquis, three sisters Beatrice Middleton of Moosomin, SK, Frances Jordon of Weldon, SK, and Shirley Mason of Melfort, SK; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Darryl heard a saying many years ago: “When you lose your Mom, you belong to no one.” We were blessed to belong to our Mom for so many years. She was a great Mom and we will love her and miss her forever. A Memorial will be held for family at a later date. In living memory of Charlotte, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin, Saskatchewan.
